Excellent pizzas and incredibly friendly staff. The tables are quite close together and our neighbour was talking very loudly, so perhaps not the best setting for a romantic getaway, but we will definitely come back here.

I am visiting London for the first time and I am staying in Bloomsbury. I was looking for a pizza place and this one was mentioned on quite a few sights and the menu looked amazing and the place looked cute so I thought Id give it a go. The staff is very very friendly and the menu isn't big which usually tells me that they focus on quality and not quantity. Well, they did not disappoint. I had the Napolitana pizza and OH MY GOD!! First of all the pizza was very quick to come out, and the pizza was super flavorful and had the right amount of saltiness from the olives, anchovies, and capers that paired nicely with the Chenin blanc. The crust was absolutely perfect. Super thin, but crispy and had the perfect amount of char and was perfectly puffy. The garlic chili oil they put on the tables are a must on EVERYTHING!! Just drink it! Unfortunately, I had a little mishap with the table next to me. It was some American on American drama, so they moved me and then graciously gave me a tiramisu at the edge of the of my meal. Honestly, it was the best tiramisu Ive ever had and Ive had tiramisu all over including Italy. The marscapone cream was silky and not too sweet, the espresso wasn't strong, but flavorful, and it had just the right amount of coco powder and the it wasn't to soggy, but just the right texture and consistency. IT was the perfect balance. If my stay in London wouldn't be so short, Id eat here daily, but I definitely recommend going there. Great atmosphere, not crowded at all, but busy enough for a good vibe. Again, the staff was super nice and friendly. GO THERE!!!

A really good pizza (proper Neapolitan style), with a good choice of toppings. We sat downstairs and it was really nice and cosy, but the whole place had a good, chilled vibe. Would recommend.

FAQs

Go early on a weekday evening for a quieter experience, or expect a lively atmosphere later in the evening and on weekends. Guests note the restaurant can be “busy” or “busy but welcoming, ” so an earlier booking or an early table (shortly after 17:00) will be calmer.

Yes, Pizza Sophia is a warm, casual spot that works well for a relaxed date night. Guests praise the cosy, “cute” atmosphere (downstairs seating is described as particularly cosy), friendly staff, and high-quality Neapolitan pizzas, which create a pleasant, intimate evening without being overly formal. It’s best for couples who enjoy authentic, wood-fired pizza and a lively but not overly loud vibe.

Casual. The restaurant-provided information lists the dress code as “Casual Dress, ” so come comfortably dressed for a relaxed evening of pizza and wine.

Portions follow a classic Neapolitan pizzeria style, individual, thin-crust pizzas meant as a full meal for one (or to share between two alongside starters). The menu also lists antipasti and salads if you want to combine plates. Guests highlight perfectly puffed, thin crusts and satisfying pizzas, so expect restaurant-sized single pizzas and modest starter portions.

Warm, casual, and authentically Neapolitan, guests describe a cosy, chilled vibe with friendly staff and lively but welcoming energy. The space can feel busy at times, giving a buzzy, popular-pizzeria atmosphere rather than a quiet fine-dining one.

Weekdays (Monday–Thursday) are likely the best choice for a quieter meal, evenings right after the 17:00 opening tend to be less busy than Friday or Saturday nights when the restaurant runs later and attracts bigger crowds.

Busiest: weekend evenings (Fri–Sat), when closing hours are later and guests report a lively crowd. Quietest: early weekday evenings (shortly after opening at 17:00), midweek visits tend to be calmer based on guest comments about the vibe.
