Pono is Hawaiian for "doing things the right way," a philosophy Pono founder Chef Makani learned growing up on the Big Island. We take pride in serving a menu filled with locally-sourced, fresh, organic dishes, including grass fed, certified organic beef burgers from Eel River Ranch, as well as vegan and vegetarian options made from produce sourced from the farmers themselves. We also serve Wild California King Salmon, Poke, Eel River Ranch Steak Diane, and a wide array of local brews and craft cocktails.

I went expecting more burger options, I frequent the Pono in Santa Monica. Both my friend and I ordered different burgers from the menu and the texture of the meat was not right in either burger. The price point on the non-burger options was higher than expected. Probably won't return.

Great location, but found it overpriced for what you got. Had a breakfast sandwich and asked for the bread to be held. Got 2 scrambled eggs topped w cheese for $14. In Venice most places are overpriced and you pay for the great location near the ocean, but this was a new level of overpriced.

Holy crap did we have awful service. We were seated immediately and our waitress gave us water, but then didn't come back for 30+ minutes to take our order. Then when she did, it took another 15/20 minutes to get even our beers, let alone food for another 30/45. She never checked on us once to see how our meal was or if we needed more water. Thankfully someone took over the table when it was time for the check otherwise we still might be there.

The rap music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. We asked for it be to lowered, but they it wasn't. The martini was watered down and was sent back - they did not charge for it, which was a positive. The waiter was somewhat snippy, but a greater problem is that he was wearing a shirt that evidently hadn't been washed in some time as the smell indicated. And, finally, on the negative side the bathroom was dirty. The food was delicious and we would enjoy going back if these other problems weren't part of the experience.

This is a great local restaurant with "feel good" food that is great for the soul. I have been here atleast a dozen times. It is very different from the Santa Monica location, which is more of a burger joint. The menu is perfect---just the right amount of options. And ALWAYS, the service is terrific! If there is one thing that really stands out with this restaurant, compared to others in the area, it is that servers, and the wait staff have ZERO NEGATIVE attitude. They are helpful, smiling, lovely, and more gracious than you could ever wish, to cap off a great meal, and make your experience wonderful. Whether you are a party of 8 with two young screaming kids, or a party of 2 out for a romantic dinner, Pono in Venice is the place to go!

Customer service was amazing here! They were so accommodating to our large group. The food was wonderful and the drinks were delicious. The ambiance felt very lively but we could still carry on conversations without yelling.
