The food was fantastic, flavours and colours made every dish memorable. The wine list was a bit thin but the Indian wines on offer were unexpectedly good.

FAQs

Yes, Pravaas is frequently recommended for date nights thanks to its intimate, cosy dining room, refined contemporary Indian cuisine and attentive service. Guests describe a serene, romantic atmosphere with beautifully presented dishes (tasting menus are especially popular). For a quieter experience, choose an early dinner or a midweek reservation; weekends can be livelier. Expect fine-dining prices for drinks and a memorable culinary experience led by Chef Patron Shilpa Dandekar.

Portions at Pravaas are generally moderate and geared toward tasting and sharing rather than oversized plates. Many guests praise the tasting menus and set lunch as perfectly paced with several courses; a few guests note that à la carte portions can feel on the smaller side. If you’re particularly hungry, consider the tasting menu or ordering an extra side or bread to round out the meal.

Partly, Pravaas is family-friendly in practice: many guests dine with children, celebrate birthdays, and report staff being accommodating to families. The space is small and intimate, so while families are welcome, bookings are recommended. There’s no clear, published information about wheelchair-accessible seating or specific accessibility features, so call ahead to confirm any mobility needs.

For a quieter, value-driven visit, weekday lunch (when the £35 set menu runs) or an early weekday dinner are great choices. If you want the full lively evening buzz, weekends and pre- or post-concert times (near Royal Albert Hall) can be busier. Reservations are recommended because the restaurant is small and popular.

Warm, polished and intimate, guests consistently describe Pravaas as cosy and refined with a calm atmosphere that’s quiet enough for conversation. The décor is modern and tasteful; service is often described as attentive, informed and friendly. Overall it reads as relaxed fine dining with an upscale yet unpretentious vibe.

Smart casual. The restaurant information explicitly lists the dress code as smart casual, suitable for neatly dressed evenings, date nights and pre-theatre meals without needing formal attire.

Yes, guests report the staff are accommodating: they’ve provided birthday cakes, adjusted spice levels, packed leftovers and helped with timing for events. While the restaurant doesn’t publish a formal special-requests policy, it’s best to call ahead or note requests when booking (dietary needs, celebrations, seating preferences) so the team can prepare.

Yes, families do dine at Pravaas and guests frequently brought children, including young kids, without issue. The staff are described as warm and accommodating; one guest specifically praised how well they handled a 4‑year‑old. Keep in mind the space is small and the restaurant’s focus is refined tasting dishes, so an early seating or telling the team in advance may help ensure a smooth family visit.

Not specified publicly. Guests frequently recommend making a reservation because the restaurant is small and popular; several comments say reservations are advisable. If you need to check a waiting list for full nights, call the restaurant directly, staff are repeatedly praised for being helpful and accommodating.

Busiest: weekend evenings and pre/post-theatre or pre-concert times (given proximity to Royal Albert Hall). Quietest: weekday lunches (when the £35 set lunch runs) and early weekday dinners are often calmer. Guests report occasional quieter nights and say lunchtime set menus are excellent value and less crowded. Reservations are recommended for peak times.

Weekdays for a quieter, value-focused experience, especially lunchtime Monday to Friday when the £35 set lunch is available. If you prefer a lively evening vibe, Friday or Saturday nights offer more atmosphere. Wherever you go, book ahead: the restaurant is small and popular with locals and visitors alike.

Chef Patron Shilpa Dandekar is the chef‑patron behind Pravaas and is frequently mentioned by guests for her cooking and menu concept. Reviews also reference a knowledgeable front‑of‑house team (managers like Arun/Aniket) who help deliver the dining experience.
