What Insiders Are Saying
Providence is experimental, seafood-focused fine dining that's absolutely worth the price of admission.
We were seated in a small side room not as impressive as main room; maybe related to Dine LA week?
Definitely one of the best restaurants in the Los Angeles and deserves all of the praise and accolades it has reserved. It was truly an amazing dining experience and worth every dollar.
Food was delicious and service extremely attentive.
Most incredible meal my wife and I have ever had in our lives. We still are talking about it days later
Wonderful dinner! Providence is a very special restaurant.
Impeccable dinner service!!
This is my 3rd time going, and each time is even better than the last. Creative, delicious, and filling. The price can be scary for many, but if you're looking for a very special night, this WILL deliver.
Food: Amazing! Incredibly fresh seafood and super flavorful dishes. Every single dish was stellar, most especially the duck, black cod, and all the amuse-bouches (there were several).
Service: There's so much care and attention applied to each dish. The presentation here is honestly some of the best I've seen in LA. The waiters were very prompt and knew each dish well. One of my friends mentioned she had a nut allergy, so they took a lot of care in not only modifying her dishes, but making sure her food was just as tasty as everyone else's. The muffins you get at the end are also incredible!
Price: It's VERY pricey, so expect to spend at least $130 per person after tax and tip. I made sure to come specifically during DineLA, though that certainly doesn't mean it was cheap. I should note that the DineLA menu I received at the restaurant was slightly different from what was posted online, so don't get too attached to any of the dishes.
Parking: Valet was $8.50. You might be able to find some street parking, but I went on a Friday night, so that was pretty much not going to happen.
Overall, an amazing restaurant and I would highly recommend!
I felt like I was on a stage watching a play everything was perfect
Amazing, delicious and beautifully prepared dining experience. Each dish presented perfectly and creatively. Knowledgeable staff, just right service.
Consistent high quality indulgence. Love this restaurant!
Our third time here (over several years!) and a treat as always. While not inexpensive, they have 3 levels of menu so you can choose what works for you. The food is as good as food gets. The wine pairing is one of the best I’ve ever had. Again, not cheap, but very delicious, interesting wines and quite reasonable pours. If the menu appeals to you, go!
Place to go if you want to experience a different side to food.
Our recent meal at Providence was lovely. The food is of a very high quality and presented well. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. The sommelier was helpful and keen to suggest wines to complement our meal selection. This was our second visit to Providence, the first being 3 years ago which we loved.
Well worth 2 Michelin stars. Words can’t do justice to describe the experience. A must try for all for special occasions!
Without a doubt one of the best culinary experiences in my life. The four course tasting menu was sumptuous. With the six amuse bouche, one more succulent than the other, you get to experience 6 to 8 different types of fish or seafood, in a wide variety of preparations. The service was impeccable; knowledgeable and sophisticated, yet friendly. For an experience of this type the price was well worth it. Instead of doing the wine pairing, we picked a bottle of one of the more affordable wines, which was exquisite and went well with the entire meal and kept the final tab expensive, yet manageable. We even felt we had received great value given the level of service, which prompted us to leave a tip higher than what we normally do. My highest recommendation possible.
An excellent culinary experience. Best of Los Angeles.
The service at Providence is impeccable, the ambience lovely; spare, modern and tasteful. The food, however, tends to be more creative than actually delicious.
We splurged and went for the full Chef's Tasting Menu, along with a couple of extras; the osetra caviar, and the white truffle risotto. The former was divine, the latter was a disappointment. The risotto was under-cooked and sat in a pool of broth. When I mentioned it, our waiter apologized and removed it from our bill. And even returned later to say that the chef was embarrassed and apologized as well.
For the rest, there were a few outstanding courses: The series of lovely little amuse bouches, the soy milk chowder, the perfectly prepared black cod, the duck, and especially the amazing wagu beef were all as delectable as they were inventive. But many of the other dishes had a hit-or-miss quality, combining elements that didn't always compliment each other. A perfect example would be the the miso cheesecake, a deconstruction served in a cup that was dreamily wonderful to start, but ended with candied ginger bits at the bottom that were far too sharp and bitter, and did not go with the frothy "cheesecake" part on top.
Overall, it was a lovely experience, and one that I would recommend trying if you have the money to do so (it's one of the priciest restaurants in LA). But I'm not sure that, having done it, I feel the driving need to return.
Unbelievable. We went mid day and even though that can be somewhat of a dicey swing shift in service the team at providence did not disappoint.
We will be back.
Providence’s tasting menu was amazing! The A5 wagyu was melt in your mouth good. Extremely happy with this restaurant. A bit pricy so once in a lifetime opportunity.
Absolutely amazing service. The food was heavenly and the atmosphere what one would expect of such fine dining place. I really enjoyed the extras that the chef threw in. All in all, I cannot wait to go back the next time I visit LA. Happiness was achieved.
The food and service were world class. The tasting menu was very innovative. Arguably, the best restaurant in Los Angeles.
Food, service, ambience, the entire meal and experience was out of this world. Will definitely be a regular stop.
Long been one of the best if not the best restaurant in LA for quite some time. We try to go at least 4-5 times a year - and NYE there was spectacular! Met Chef!
Great food. Every course was perfection. Expensive but for once a year special occasion well worth it.
Overall the food was delicious and the wine pairing was wonderful. The service was a bit slow but the servers were all very knowledgeable and sincere. At the beginning of the meal we had ordered a 1/2 bottle of champagne and it was about 10 - 15 minutes we did not receive. We then requested to cancel the 1/2 bottle and went with the wine pairing.
Upon receipt of the bill - the 1/2 bottle had been charged to our account. However once brought to the attention of the server it was removed, for us a customers it was a bit disappointing.
As always, an amazing dining experience on all counts.
Amazing restaurant with creative innovative seafood dishes. Every plate , including the duck entree, hit just the right flavor notes. There was not one dish (among many) that wasn't immensely enjoyed. Well worth the expense. Service was extremely attentive without being obtrusive. The smoked rockfish warm soup we started with was to die for-heaven in your mouth!
There was a plastic found in my dessert... the interior is kind of cheap and bad restroom... the food is good tho
Love it!! Beautifully crafted food. Impeccable presentation. Lovely service. I took my gourmet friend visiting LA and she was impressed.
Fabulous restaurant. The food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. Do not miss this restaurant if you are in Los Angeles!
Was here for their Christmas Eve menu. Good menu but nothing remarkable. Some of the more acidic dishes were too acid. Dishes that were sauced were much better. The octopus was delicious. Dessert was ho hum. Cocktails were lovely. Service was very spotty. I'm guessing that because this was a one off menu (different from their every day menu). Everyone was very pleasant but seemed a bit confused. Dishes were brought before the previous plate had been removed, had to request to have water glasses refilled, plates were removed before everyone was done, etc. When you are spending$800+ for three the service should be better.
Absolutely flawless. I took my husband for his birthday and we were blown away. Every course was better than the last! My water glass never went empty and everyone had incredible cocktail recommendations. I’m allergic to shellfish and they still accommodated me with incredible dishes - I didn’t feel like I missed out. I will happily go back here ANY time! I dream of the drinks and dishes..
This was one of the best meals of my life. We ordered the seasonal menu. Unlike many prix fixe meals, I enjoyed every course (7 + amuse bouche). The cocktails were fantastic. Service was a wee bit overattentive, but I'd much rather have it that way than the alternative. Thank you Providence team for an amazing experience!
We wanted to try Providence as “the” L.A. restaurant now that we have moved back to the city from the east coast. It is excellent and we highly recommend it for its beautifully crafted and presented fixed menu dinners. Wine pairings weren’t quite as good as the food, though.
For those wishing for the French Laundry without the difficulty getting reservations and for a slightly less exorbitant bill, this does come close!
Brought a mutual foodie/wino friend here. He loved it. I loved it. I've been coming here for quite some time and it never lets me down. Always an event! A delicious one at that! Ooo...that uni egg! Can I have a dozen please?
Go and taste the white truffles risotto, a masterpiece!
It was our last night in Los Angeles and we wanted something special, intimate but friendly atmosphere we couldn’t ask for more to celebrate our 35th anniversary! Brilliant innovative tasty dinner.
Bravo to chef Michael Cimarusti the kitchen team and waiters.
The food, the service, and the attention to detail were all perfection. While stunningly expensive, Providence shows you where the money goes. We felt very welcome and well taken care of.
Excellent birthday dinner!
