We loved this restaurant and will certainly be back. Great staff, open kitchen, tasty cocktails.
Gianna was our incredible server. She made amazing recommendations for dishes to share and was mindful of every aspect of our dining experience. The food itself was a sensory experience from the visual presentation to the unusual tastes and textures. We will be back...this is our new favorite Portland restaurant.
This was a lovely find on Mississippi. The space is small and cozy. The wait staff very nice and attentive and helpful. We tried 5 small plates and each one was imaginative and tasty, although we certainly had our favorites. I loved that the menu changed seasonally so everything is always so fresh.
The chocolate dessert was outstanding and a perfect end to the meal.
I will go again to Quaintrelle.
Really impressed all around. Creative dishes with local ingredients. Elegant without being pretentious. Best restaurant in North Portland
Truly one of portland’s best. Creative dishes that are well balanced and perfectly executed. Impeccable, friendly, knowledgeable service!
Quaintrelle was a great surprise -- the food was wonderful, the selection was impressive, the service was great. Would definitely return on a future visit to PDX.
Super interesting menu. The grilled octopus was amazing as was the lamb stew with tiny dumplings. I wish I was hungry enough to order the chef's tasting menu because every dish we ordered was very special.
We'd been to Quaintrelle before and had really liked it, so we went again for our anniversary. Everything we had was great -- oysters (raw), a really good warm salad that we shared (it was plenty for two), and an entree for each of us. The drinks also were excellent.
So that's twice now that we've had a great time there, with great food. Plus, the first time we went, we had our teenage granddaughter who is vegan, and she liked it too as there were good options for her.
We loved our meal. The food was delicious, with lots of local and seasonal produce. I wanted to eat all of the vegetable dishes. Fine dining technique was definitely present, but nothing was precious or pretentious, a rare find! Plenty of awesome and creative cocktails to choose from, as well. The service was very helpful and friendly. Quaintrelle ended up being the perfect place for our celebratory dinner.
I honestly believe this restaurant may be the best in Portland.
The food was horibly salty and the upstairs area is pretty depressing.
They food and service were AMAZING!!! We did the Chef’s tasting menu and were blown away by the flavors! Everything that came out did not disappoint and neither did the service. I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant. We’ll definitely be going back!
This used to be my favorite restaurant in PDX. They no longer have a cheese plate (which was phenomenal) and they did not offer a fish or vegetarian main dish. Also, what happened to the olive oil cake? Sad! The veggie starters were good, not memorable but good. We had the cauliflower (which was breaded) and the raddiccho. They still make great drinks and the staff was pleasant. If you are a meat eater this may still be your place but no longer has options for vegetarians or pescatarians.
A great find on popular N Mississippi Street. They have a great happy hour that I think is really good value.
I have been here once before where I experienced the best customer service and experience. Unfortunately I live in Seattle so coming here often isn’t an option. I order a cocktail that was so amazing I had to come back.
I drove a friend down from Seattle and we dinned in last Friday at 5:30 PM. I explained to our waiter that we drove from Seattle and how great the cocktail was last time. I couldn’t remember the name but remembered it had pink peppercorn. He brought me my cocktail (without the peppercorn) and I asked him if it was the correct drink. He said that it had probably ‘fallen to the bottom’ which it haven’t. My friend ordered the same drink and he brought hers out with the peppercorn and gave a very uncorncern comment about how I was right about not being made correctly. I asked if he could have it remade and he replied with ‘I mean I can bring you a side of peppercorn’......What am I going to do with a side of peppercorn when my drink was finished. It was pretty rude to let a customer (especially one who drove 3 hrs for dinner) gets treated this way. On top of everything else he forgets to order one of our dishes. It was not busy at all and there should be no reason for the lazy serving.
I will be back because I enjoy the food and hope to give this place another chance but felt it important to share my experience. It is a must for restaurants in PDX to stand out with service because there definitely aren’t shortages of other places to go.
Excellent food was marred by insane noise level. We sat beneath a speaker that was blasting music. My wife and I had to shout at each other to be heard. This was too serious to overlook - would not return.
Quaintrelle is excellent on all levels. Innovative, great service, and very good food.
I'm so glad I made the trek from the Heathman to check out this absolute gem. The menu was intriguing in every way and I adored the meal from beginning to end. This is creative food at its best!
We shared plates among the six of us. Such a wonderful variety of flavors and textures. I loved every one of the plates.
Great and creative food. Excellent service. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
This was my second time here, and I continue to love this restaurant. For me it is the perfect neighborhood spot for a nice dinner out. Food and ambience are both great. We started with some delicious oysters on the half shell. I highly recommend the goat cheese dumplings and the cauliflower appetizer.
Really a great meal. Most of the dishes were exceptional and the service was top rate. I’m only reducing to 4 stars because 2 dishes were good but not fantastic like the other 4 we had.
I can't say enough lovely things about Quaintrelle! The staff were warm and welcoming - everyone from the host stand through to the end of our meal. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable, the somelier was the same and steered us in the right direction for our bottle of wine. Every dish was exceptionally flavorful and delicious, with ample portions. Please dine at Quaintrelle!
Phenomenal food, from the yellow tail crudo to the braised lamb and sheeps cheese dumplings.
Great find ... one of the best for "outstanding" flavors ... with most anything you order off the menu! Highly recommend!
Meh. The food sounds fabulous, and the ingredients are top notch, but the execution is mundane to fail. Amazingly bland, and lacking any passion. If you closed your eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell the muscles from tofu. The rabbit was just horrible, I must say. No excuse there.
The service attentive and knowledgeable, I’d recommend asking their opinions on smaller items. I would like better variety in main entrees like a fish or 100% vegetarian entree, but it was so delicious - getting a bunch and sharing family style is the way to go. The 50% on bottles on wednesday is such an awesome deal (get the Crowley). Will definitely come back for dinner and wine.
Amazing food. Had a great time.
Food was very good. waitress was great
New chef ..wonderfully inventive combination of flavors in every dish. Every dish our group of four ordered was truly delicious and worthy of savoring.
Extensive small dish menu, perfect for sharing. Interesting and varied menu, especially the seafood offerings, although the pork dish was very tasty. Lively scene.
Superb in every way! Farm to table, exquisite flavor/texture profiles, artistically designed to invoke your palate before you bite! Delectable!
We went to dinner here for the first time to meet up with out of town friends we'd not seen in 13 years (so lots of catching up to do). It was a fantastic experience all around. The dishes are very unique and hands down DELICIOUS. We will definitely be back! The only reason I gave it a 3 for value is because I guess I'm a little on the cheap side sometimes and feel like $18 for a small-ish plate serving of vegetables – no matter how unique, delicious and creative – is a bit steep (unless it's got some precious, high tag ingredient or spice, which I don't believe most did). It was worth it, don't get me wrong. Just not somewhere I might put on my "regular haunt" list.
We had a gorgeous meal here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Surprising flavors and perfect textures, many moments where we had to close our eyes to fully savor a wonderful bite. Lovely, unobtrusive service with good timing. Thanks for a special anniversary evening!
Finally had the opportunity to try this gem of a find in the NE Mississippi neighborhood. The dishes were delicious, but what truly stood out was the caliber of the service - our server was welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. We never felt rushed. She had great suggestions when we couldn’t decide among the wonderful selections. The outstanding service was at the level that my spouse and I have experienced at our “very special occasions only” restaurants like Le Pigeon and Castagna.
Everything we got was excellent. Service was even better -- very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu (and good descriptions).
Cocktails were among the best bourbon drinks I've had in Portland, too!
ONLY suggestion might be to make smaller portions/appetizers available (I didn't ask about this when I was there, so maybe that was even an option)? This is 'cause there were like a million things we wanted to try, but everything on the menu was pretty substantial and filling in its own way (and a multi-course option was like COMPLETELY overboard for us). Ah well, I guess we'll just have to come back and try some more stuff ;-)
Great food, helpful staff, great place to people watch on the patio
Food was delicious. Eyes are pleased by the beautiful arrangement. Recommend to order a few dishes to share. The only thing I wish to be improved is that bread is warm when served.
Special place for a 46th anniversary. We'll come back again.
My wife and son had dinner here mid-week, and it was one of the nicest meals I've had in the last six months-- we really enjoyed it. Padrons with pimenton aioli was especially good, as was the "little gems" salad and the carrots with miso: wonderfully prepared, superbly flavorful. Service was attentive and helpful, and I enjoyed the Oregon wine suggestions provided. The atmosphere is fairly casual (no tuxedos or white table clothes) which suited us just fine. Highly recommended!
