Indian

Rasai is an Indian word that means Entrance, Opening & Passage! Rasai Indian Restaurant is an opening for a new Seattle Indian experience – a progressive, modern, fresh, fun, and delicious take on all the regions of Indian flavors, dishes, and traditions. Our menu and food bring to Seattle the diversity of India and Indian cuisine using a fresh, progressive & modern take that is meant to delight, to make happy, and to be warm and inviting, not pretentious and stilted. To make this all happen, Executive Chef, Gaurav Raj is hitting the mark by giving Indian food a new identity and meaning in the world of Haute cuisine. The space itself is cozy and intimate with burnt tempered wood and a blackened steel finish. The outside wooden patio is fully covered and heated.

Food is good, but too expensive. A dahi puri, however tasty shouldn't cost 12 dollars for a plate of 4 half puris. Don't get me started on the 4 sauted paneer pieces. I dont mind the prize as much as the portion sizes you get. All the portion sizes are tuned to get you to order more of the already expensive plates.

Booked on OT and noted it was a double birthday celebration, but not recognized by the restaurant. Requested, and got, outside seating which was pleasant but, as expected, a bit noisy from car and foot traffic as the seating is a porch right on the street. Helpful staff. Food was a bit disappointing--undercooked carrots in the main chicken dish, but otherwise flavorful. Naan was heavy rather than flaky, and quite oily to the touch, making for messy eating. Still, we had a pleasant evening on one of Seattle's hottest days.

You will taste some incredible food at Rasai! I would 100% recommend for their food options. But, their service is atrocious. We had a table reserved for 8pm. It took us 20mins to get seated as the previous party was taking a while, which is acceptable as things like this happen. But what was bad that, after we got our table it took us another 30mins to even have a waiter take our order or serve water. At first we thought they were short staffed but we did see that the host was checking in other smaller parties and serving smaller tables. Maybe they were not equipped to serve larger tables? We don’t know! We have been to Rasai numerous times and this exp was pretty bad but honestly, the food made it all worth it. If you have time to spare and you are not super hungry, I would 100% recommend this place!!

Food was wonderful, a unique twist on traditional Indian food. Went here for a date but was very busy with familes. Perhaps a better spot for groups and high end family dinner night out. Overall very pleased and would recommend.

Cocktails were intriguing and a twist in the classics but they were light and had too much sugar. In the end we switched to wine. Food presentation was very good and the food had varying heat levels but flavor and spices (not heat) was lacking. Mains were pretty good / better than starters. Service was a mix of overly attentive and disorganized with different waiters trying to take our order. One waiter came to collect dishes and put down other dirty dishes on our table while collecting ours. Fine in some restaurants but not what you’d expect given the prices and presentation of plates. Overall a mixed experience. Hope their drinks and service improves. Would try again.

We had a great dinner at Rasai and were impressed with the powerful yet balanced flavors of all dishes we ordered. From the small plates, we had the Chipotle Paneer and Jackfruit Bao - both exceptional. The chutney with the paneer was out of this world and the buns just melted in the mouth. For mains we sampled the Spinach & Ricotta with a Lacchha paratha (the paratha transported me back to Delhi..oh so good!!) and the Parda Goat - an absolute delight - aromatic and flavorful dum biryani. I say sampled because we wanted to leave soon room for dessert and relish some leftovers tomorrow too. The dessert was the ultimate finale. We opted for Rabdi Tiramisu and what a brilliant fusion concept I must say. It was gone in seconds. We will be definitely visiting again.

Food is delicious and beautiful. Very confused why they are keeping their plastic up on the patio all year round when it’s 90degrees out. Doesn’t look hard to take down and made it very uncomfortable for us. They brought us a fan but we were worried they took it from the kitchen crew :( Would go back in the fall or winter or when covid allows for indoors

Very bad food! Prawns was undercooked, lamb was sweet, paneer was dry. Nothing really stuck out. The food is very overpriced. Also I requested a candle for the cake for my wife's birthday but they forgot. Overall very bad experience both food and service wise.

Waiter told us about 5+ changes to the menu that honestly should have been printed. Made it confusing to make orders. Portions were small on the appetizers, but healthy on the main dishes. Everything tasted great. Drinks were okay. Not worth the cost imo.

We had a reservation at 7:00 for outdoor patio seating but had to wait for over 20 mins as the table wasn’t ready. By the time we were seated it was 7:25. The outdoor space was very tight with tables next to each other almost feeling like you’re breathing on the other party. It didn’t feel comfortable to sit although we were outdoors. They closed the patio space with plastic which made it hot and humid - no fans were provided. I understand we are in Seattle but climate and weather patterns have changed in the recent past. The noise level was high, so it didn’t feel like an intimate setting and almost we had to shout to hear each other. The food was okay- the drinks we ordered came in very late and the appetizers weren’t appetizing. The main course was decent. We didn’t feel like sitting more for having dessert as the experience was becoming too much to handle with the crowd, the rush and the noise level. Overall, it wasn’t an experience I would repeat especially when you’re paying premium with 20% service charge already set in the bill.

Chose this restaurant for special celebration. The food was good and restaurant itself looks modern and cool, but I can not give the higher points because of the service. I rarely complain about slower pace in restaurants (vice versa - I love when I am not rushed to consume all my courses), but in this case we felt like we were in a forgotten island. The start was good but then it kind of fell apart. The table, who came in after us, got their main course way earlier than us and they left when we were still waiting. So if the main course is taking extra time, that can be explained too, but at that time it would have been a good opportunity to check on us, if we had something to drink at least. They did not. The only one checking on us was the water servant, so we left the restaurant well hydrated at least. When the main course arrived, the server who brought it, quickly disappeared without even checking our empty glasses, neither was he asking if we would like to have something to drink with our mains. So we had eaten half of our mains, before we received the requested menu to order some wine we wanted to enjoy with our mains. By that point ordering that wine seemed pointless and we had already decided to leave after the main course instead of ordering some dessert. I know that covid has not been easy at restaurants, but there can be a lot done with some little extra communication in such cases. This restaurants has a good potential, but I hope the service will get better, otherwise it kind of ruins the memory about the good food.

It is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Food is outstanding and our sever was extremely welcoming. However, their host didn’t check reservation and didn’t even say ‘Happy birthday’ to me. Also, their kitchen made a mistake and put ‘Happy birthday’ on my friend’s dessert instead of mine. Prices are higher since they have changed the menu. So, everything is very good but better management is required 😎

They started out amazing. I have gone back three times and each time, the execution and quality has gone down. They have also been taking dishes off their currently menu. Excuse was, “we are changing our menu soon.” Frankly except for the first time, they have been saying that. Jackfruit buns were rock hard. The flavors of everything is not as refined as it’s been. So, at this point, for the price point I don’t think it’s worth the money. Still pretty unique and interesting flavors.

We have chosen this restaurant for our Anniversary as we really like Indian and vegetarian food. The place was so good, the food and the cocktails were delicious. They brought us a dessert that we ordered with the happy anniversary on the top and that was just lovely. We want to thank you for such a nice experience. Quality of food and the attention of the waitress was 5/5 stars, Congratulations to that amazing staff who makes us feel so good in our special occasion.

The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant and leads one to expect a level of sophistication. The presentation of the dishes was attractive but we found the food to be undistinguished. The cauliflower was the best tasting dish but the jackfruit bao was bland in a white dough with no taste at all and a pasty texture. The eggplant in coconut sauce replaced the stuffed chiles. It was also very bland with no hint of coconut flavor in the sauce. We ordered a side of 3 Naans with chutneys. The naans were tasteless and doughy/chewy, unlike at most Indian restaurants where they have a great flavor and texture. The chutneys were very small portions and more like dipping sauces than chutney. I'm not sure what Progressive is supposed to mean but they seem to have taken the spice out of the food.

The drink I wanted, the appetizer i wanted and one of the main courses I wanted were all sold out or not available at all when we had our reservation at 7pm. Not a great first impression of the restaurant. With that being said the food was great for the items we could order.

Creative vision; mediocre execution. The ambience is nice - without looking too hard, but the glasses were coated in a thick layer of cotton fluff and dust, the lavatory feels like one you might find in an especially nice gas station. Dinner had the same vibe - the menu was creative, but the reality somehow turned out a little flat. Each dish was very one note instead of the depth of flavor that we were anticipating from such cool, innovative descriptions. The highlight of the dinner was pineapple chutney - which was admittedly totally perfect.
