For appetizers we got the Coconut Battered Colossal Shrimp and Dragon and Rainbow Roll. Unusual Meal. Plenty of help with plenty of Staff.... very disorganized service. Manager(s) were hard at work, but unaware of problems. Beautiful restaurant with very impressive and expensive decor features. Live "Pianoman" was an outstanding entertainer. Menu was limited to just a mere handful of items. The notable menu suggestions on OpenTable, simply did not exist on the menu. The food should have been spot on with such few items, but was only on a 1 - 10....about a 6. We actually almost left after the appetizers, but stayed through the entrees, and then did pay out and go have dessert elsewhere. This restaurant was clearly in some sort of transformation or transition, new management or ownership. It had a world-class patio that is mentioned on Opentable, but totally empty with zero furniture, or anything else on it. It was the largest area of open unused "real-estate" that I saw in my visit to Manhattan! As we were leaving, an FOH employee was outside in the front porch area speaking with someone (complaining) about something, my gut was about the restaurant. This seenms like a restaurant that at a snap of a finger could easily be an A+!

Went for the 4th of July ball drop viewing and dinner package. An under promoted but pleasant dining experience, paid for with $US, completely ruined with an unsolicited, "celebrating 250 years of stolen land" remark from staff.

How do you run out of Dover Sole at 6:15pm? That’s a restaurant specialty. If it wasn’t available at all, the server should have told us when menus were handed out. And the server should always compare the orders being delivered to what we ordered. Eel does not look like tuna in a sushi roll! We should have at least been comped.

No purpose in reviewing this GREAT establishment since it won't be around anymore in two weeks. What is most upsetting is that the amazing staff has not been relocated to other Fireman restaurants or to other places that Fireman knows and reach out to. Mr. Fireman is gone almost 9 months and thus flagship of a restaurant that has given so many thousands of people memories they will never forget, has died too. The least you could do is to create a RedEye Grill cookbook - Restaurant & Bar, with bios of the people who gave their professional lives to us. This beautiful, wonderful place should live on in the kitchens of the people who loved it and its people.
