Classy without being overly pretentious. Riccardo Trattoria is one of our favorite Italian restaurants around.
Riccardo trattoria is one of the consistently best Italian restaurants in Chicago----small, quaint with GREAT service and it has a menu with so many choices--all of which are always done very well---specials ( such as the soft shell crabs either as an appetizer or entrée ) add even more variety---glad its in my neighborhood!!
Carefully prepared food; delicious, authentic Italian menu offerings. Attentive service. Special birthday treat for my husband. Lovely, refined atmosphere. Want to return soon.
The staff is very nice but we did not enjoy our meals. It also felt very rushed.
Some of the most authentic Italian food in the city. Considering the quality, the price point is perfect.
A charming restaurant with excellent food and a nice wine list. Service is attentive. Among recommendations are any pasta dish and the branzino. The bread basket is great.
One of my favorite restaurants. My 3 friends had not been there before and also loved it
I asked to have my leftover pasta boxed so I could take it home. It never came (I think they threw it out accidentally). I was disappointed in the quality of the food for the first time. It has usually been great! Not this time. It felt rushed and not very flavorful
Took teenage boys for fine dining experience and we were not disappointed. They treated us like regulars, and there’s not better Italian food in the city.
I love this intimate little restaurant! The staff went aBose and beyond to make our visit delightful, even going across the street to help one of my friends navigate traffic on busy Clark Street. We had an early pre theater meal and never felt rushed. The food is fresh and light and the expansive menu is filled with great choices for all dietary and appetite needs. It’s a gem💕
We celebrated my b-day. Our waiter was excellent & so was the food & wine! The dishes were plentiful & fresh. All my friends were very pleased!
Always a favorite. I think it's the best Italian food in the city. Service is always impeccable and we never feel rushed. I love this place!
Outstanding food and service / excellente!!!
Everything was wonderful. The food was outstanding. The waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgable. The ambiance is lovely.
Love the food. Delightful atmosphere and servers. One of my favorite dining spots.
Very nice dinner on a Tuesday night. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful in guiding us through extensive menu. My rigatoni was excellent. My companions risotto (a special) needed salt. A lot of salt. The tiny meatballs were flavorful but the entire dish needed a little “punch”. The lentil soup was good and my salad with the vinegrette dressing was very good. We ate late (8:45) and even though we were the last people in the restaurant to leave, we never felt rushed. This is a very nice restaurant and I would return again.
A great evening. Comfortable, unpretentious, but superb cuisine.
Great meal and service at Riccardo Trattoria! Would highly recommend.
When we visit Chicago from New Orleans Ricardo's is at the top of our list of restaurants to visit. This visit the seasonal special of Umbrian truffles was outstanding - we had it with shaved truffles sprinkled over perfect risotto. A starter of stuffed and fried squash blossoms was scrumptious. Ricardo's is a Charming, small and bustling trattoria with (some say) the best Italian food in Chicago. We agree!
We had a great experience! It is a comfortable, neighborhood Italian restaurant that had authentic cuisine. The food was excellent and our service was superior - very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. We will definitely be back again.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the world - and I have been around the world! The veal is the best. Be prepared for a cozy, louder environment - but Hassel free attentive service covers makes it feel more intimate.
The food was outstanding!! Best Italian I've had in years.
Even if our table was ready we had to wait for it almost for a half hour. The food was good but the service was not. The feeling was that they wanted us to go as fast as quickly. Probly because other guests was waiting for our table.
This was my third time at Riccardo Trattoria, indicating that I have really enjoyed my previous visits. Alas I felt that the food slipped quite a bit since we were last here. The tagliolini with truffle was completely clumped together and on the dry side, and the truffle portion was stingy to say the least. The asparagus souffle was quite dense and heavy - decidedly not souffle-like - and the accompanying sauce tasty but very gloppy; it congealed almost immediately on the plate. Others in my party were satisfied with their meals but nothing was wow. I am sad to say that we will probably not return again.
We’ve been coming here for years and that should say it all. Great food, well-appointed wine list, attentive and friendly service. Authentic dishes!
Everything was so fresh and delicious from the appetizer tuna tartare, the risotto, Dover sole. The pasta was also fresh and fantastic! A definite he.
3rd time to this restaraunt as I live in N.Y. one of the best restaraunts ever I have been to.
Consistently good neighborhood gem! Highly recommend. Food and service were amazing and we did not have to wait for our table. Noise level a little on the High side.
Ate at Riccardo Trattoria last night with my husband and a dear friend of ours for the first time.
The food was authentic Italian!
The bruschetta not garlicky, perfectly balanced. The beef carpaccio was wonderful.
The branzino alla griglia was perfectly cleaned without any bones.
I chose the fish stew and it was the best fish stew I have eaten in a very long time with excellent pieces of seafood, and perfectly balanced, not too salty. The home made fettuccine alla bolognese had great sauce, not too heavy.
The desserts were also excellent from the pistachio gelato to the panna cotta to the lemon sorbet.
The grappa was of very good quality.
Service fast and excellent.
I will definitely go again. It is so hard to find an authentic italian restaurant with balanced flavors and without too much garlic, I finally found a great one! Parking is valet, price is reasonable.
Amazing experience as always.
Exceptional from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we walked out.
Always a delicious pleasure to dine @ Riccardo’s— this time we introduced business associates who reside in the suburbs to Riccardo’s and rhey were delighted too!
This is a cozy neighborhood place. Lots of locals and the food is consistently good. High quality. Good service.
They can make great even better
Somewhat like some of the live music we have enjoyed: Riccardo's is always very good, while often kicks it up & delivers at the highest echelon (I have not been able to ascertain common denominators; I just recommend you go a lot and super enjoy those moments when they really nail it).
Connoisseur ready while comfort accommodating.
Can spend a lot of money here (and the quality is worth it), or one can focus on frugal options and have very good & reasonably priced meal; Both approaches are worthwhile endeavors.
Thank you Ricardo.
Great small neighborhood place. Great food good service nicely priced!
My only complaint about this restaurant is the obnoxious behavior of some other customers. We were a party of five and had a dinner of 3 courses with wine. The servers were excellent and paced the meal well, and all in all we spent 90 minutes in the restaurant, which seemed to us fairly normal. The problem came when a group of Chanel-clad matrons decided we needed to make room for them and stationed themselves directly over our shoulders as we finished our wine. This entitled and obnoxious behavior made me not want to visit this restaurant again. While the staff were very polite , the overall ambiance of the restaurant suffers from a clientele who - as least in small part - are without manners.
I hesitate to give Riccardo Trattoria a good review because I want to go there again. It is amazing! The food is superb, the service attentive but not intrusive, and the wine prices reasonable. It has a neighborhood feel but 4 star quality. My wife and I split n app, had a salad each, two pasta dinners, drink, and a bottle of wine for $180. We were there for two hours on a Tuesday, with the restaurant 2/3 full. A quite enjoyable evening.
My Ossobucco was overdone; tough to eat. Our waiter seemed distracted having to twice be reminded about my drink. I was served the wrong dessert and before being able to get the correct dessert, the waiter had left the area. So, especially since the restaurant had received prior good reviews from Open T., and it was a taxi to and from, it was quite the disappointment.
Best place to get Italian food done exceptionally well. Initmate, so a little more noise than you'd like, but no heavy music coming down at you, just people in conversation. Top rated in our circle of friends.
