The food was not that good. We have been to many hibachi restaurants and this was the worst one

The waitress was horrible and the cook was not good. It was my birthday and they didn’t even sing. I have been going to your restaurant for 40 yrs plus. And never had the service, cook or food be this bad. Very disappointed

We walked in and the host was very non-welcoming. They had pop music in the background so the ambiance was very unappealing. You share a table with others so we were lucky to be seated with a nice family of four and we had fun with them. I thought the chef was supposed to be live entertainment at the table, but there was none. No flipping of food and towers of fire. It was a sad affair. The food was good, but we went there to get the entertainment as well, and that was not existent. Even though the chef was experienced and the food was good, considering the price I would not go back. So sad…it used to be so fun!

Markets itself is an upscale date night restaurant, the ambience atmosphere is fantastic, especially for first dates! Under downside, the house soup with no other options was chicken noodle soup, an odd choice for a Japanese hibachi style restaurant, also the salad was just iceberg lettuce with no choice of dressings. Food was very good, but also very basic, not what you would expect out of $100 a seat average price.

FAQs

Portions are generally generous, many guests say you’ll get a lot of food and often leave with leftovers. The teppanyaki plates (steak, seafood, fried rice and vegetables) are described as plentiful and filling by a large number of diners. A few long-time guests mentioned recent smaller vegetable portions or menu tweaks, so expect generous entrees overall but be aware some items (like bean sprouts) may be served more sparingly than in the past.

Yes, Ron of Japan is often chosen for date nights and special occasions, especially if you want a teppanyaki tableside experience. Many guests call it an upscale, romantic spot with memorable presentation and delicious steak and seafood. Expect lively, shared hibachi seating, smoke from the grills, and variable service: some guests rave about attentive chefs and ambiance, while others note cramped tables, rushed servers or spotty service. For a smoother evening, try an early weekday or request a particular chef when you call ahead.

Yes, families and multigenerational groups commonly dine here, and guests often celebrate birthdays and holidays with children. Seating is primarily communal teppanyaki-style at large grills, which can feel cramped for families with small kids or strollers. If accessibility or private family space is important, call ahead to discuss seating needs; staff sometimes accommodate special requests, though experiences vary among guests.

Ron of Japan primarily uses teppanyaki-style communal grill tables where parties share a large cooktop; guests are often seated with other parties and tables commonly seat up to eight (sometimes pushed to nine). There’s no indication of private dining rooms; the layout focuses on interactive tableside cooking. If you need particular seating or want to avoid being paired with strangers, call ahead to ask about availability and special arrangements.

Yes, families often bring children and celebrate birthdays here; many guests call Ron of Japan a go-to for family celebrations. The teppanyaki format is especially fun for older kids and teens who enjoy the tableside cooking. Keep in mind there isn’t a dedicated kids’ menu widely mentioned, seating is communal, and the grills can be smoky, consider an early seating and mention any family needs when you call.

Busiest: weekend evenings (Fri–Sat) and holidays, guests frequently mention crowded nights, long waits, and celebratory groups. Quietest: early weekday evenings (Tue–Thu) and some early Sunday evenings, many guests note better service and shorter waits midweek. For the calmest experience, book an early weekday reservation; for a lively celebration, choose holiday evenings or weekend nights but expect crowds and possible delays.

Yes, call ahead to request things like a specific chef, seating preferences, or accommodations for dietary needs. Many guests successfully request favorite chefs and seating, and staff sometimes honor these requests. Experiences vary, though: some guests report that the host couldn’t adjust reservation times or ignored chef requests. For the best outcome, call in advance, explain your needs (celebration, seating, dietary restrictions), and confirm on arrival.

There’s no formal waiting-list policy provided, but guests commonly report waits and delays, especially long waits to have a chef start cooking after being seated (some reported 45–80 minute delays). Busy nights and holidays can be slow, so expect possible delays. To reduce the chance of a long wait, make a reservation, arrive early for your slot, and call ahead on peak nights to confirm staffing and timing.

The best time is an early weekday dinner (Tuesday–Thursday) or an early seating, guests frequently note that midweek and earlier evening reservations offer better service, shorter waits, and a calmer atmosphere. Weekends, holiday evenings and peak times can be noisy, crowded, and slower (longer waits for the chef). If you want a livelier celebration, weekends work; if you prefer a smoother meal, aim for an early weeknight.

The atmosphere is classic teppanyaki, lively, social, and nostalgic, with cooks preparing food tableside. Many guests praise the fun, celebratory vibe and fond memories spanning decades. Expectations vary: some guests love the ambience and presentation, while others report tired decor, poor ventilation (smoky tables), cramped seating, or a need for better cleaning and upkeep. If you value showmanship, request an experienced chef; if you prefer quiet, consider an early weekday seating.

Business casual is the recommended dress code. Guests commonly dress up for celebrations and date nights, while others come more casually, the atmosphere ranges from relaxed to celebratory. If you’re attending a special event, business casual or smart casual will fit right in.

Weekdays, especially Tuesday through Thursday, are the best days for a smoother experience, guests often praise early-week visits for better timing, attentive service, and shorter waits. If you want a festive, high-energy night, weekends and holidays deliver that vibe but can be crowded and slower. For an intimate date or family dinner with fewer delays, pick an early weekday seating.

Yes, the restaurant does open for some holidays (guests mention traditions on New Year’s Eve and visits on Thanksgiving Eve), but hours and holiday availability may vary. Because holiday service can be busy and staffing may change, call ahead to confirm holiday hours, reservations, and any special menus before you go.
