Chayanne was a fantastic server. Knowledgeable, kind, funny and very attentive without being annoying. He chose my husbands dinner for him - basically he likes everything and likes for the people who know the food the best to choose. Chayanne chose the swordfish for him and WOW! Delicious, tender, great sauce. I had the tuna and it was also great. We also had the Cesar salad and fish dip and all was really yummy. Highly recommend!

The service was superb! Also the food! We have to mention Mr. PABON (Manager) . He goes out of the way to please the customers and make the experience an unforgettable one! He oversees the entire restaurant and his way of making sure everyone is happy is an asset! Also want to mention Chef Acevedo. He’s outstanding! His creativity is incredible! Don’t bother reservations they do not honor them. Went night two to try to get in again. Waited 45 for a salad. I do not recommend this restaurant if you are trying to catch a show! We missed ours!

While our server was pleasant, the quality of the meal and service did not match the prices reflected. We received our pizza appetizer before drinks (20mins). We ordered the chicken dish and octopus - no sauce due to dietary restrictions. The chicken was dry and bland and the otopus came out with the sauce. Had to flag the server down for 10 mins to address. I fault the establishment/management; staff appears friendly but unqualified.

FAQs

Yes, Roots Coastal Kitchen is a popular choice for date night thanks to its coastal atmosphere, attentive servers, and flavorful seafood and shared dishes. Many guests praise the patio views, candlelit feeling, and standout dishes like salmon, charred octopus, and ribs. Note: some nights can be lively and a bit noisy, and service timing can vary, so an earlier reservation or asking for a quieter patio alcove will help create a more intimate evening.

Portions vary by dish but are generally generous, many guests say entrees (swordfish, salmon, ribs, pizzas, and rigatoni) and shareable starters are ample and good for splitting. Some guests noted smaller portions for the price on particular dishes, while others praised large, satisfying plates (biscuits, shrimp & grits, ribs). If you’re unsure, consider sharing an appetizer and entree or ask your server about portion size when ordering.

Roots Coastal Kitchen is open daily. Breakfast: 6:30 am–11:00 am; Lunch: 11:30 am–5:00 pm; Dinner: 5:00 pm–10:00 pm. Because it’s part of the resort and popular for breakfast and dinner, consider reserving ahead for evening service or holiday dates.

Yes, Roots accommodates families and groups. Guests frequently bring children, celebrate birthdays, and the staff have welcomed families (including adjustments for an autistic child). The restaurant can seat large parties (examples of groups of 14) and offers patio and indoor seating. Note: some seating uses wooden benches that some guests found uncomfortable, if accessibility or seating comfort is critical, call ahead to request a specific table or indoor seating.

Roots offers several seating options: indoor dining, a covered patio/terrace with ocean and garden views, high-top tables, and some bench seating. Guests also mention an overflow/breakfast area that can be used when busy. The restaurant does not offer private dining rooms for parties, so for special events call ahead to discuss accommodations.

Roots delivers a lively, beach-casual coastal vibe, relaxed yet polished. Guests love the patio views, seaside breeze, and upbeat atmosphere; many call it the best restaurant on property. It can be busy and occasionally loud (hard surfaces and resort traffic), but overall the tone is welcoming, family-friendly, and perfect for vacation dining with creative Caribbean-American dishes.

Resort casual. Guests commonly dine in relaxed resort wear suitable for a beachside hotel restaurant; the tone is casual but polished enough for date nights and special meals.

Yes, guests report that staff often accommodate dietary needs, seating preferences, and accessibility requests. Many guests praised servers and management for adjusting seating (including for children and special needs) and handling allergies when alerted, though experiences vary. Call the restaurant ahead to confirm allergy handling, request a quieter table or patio alcove, or note any celebrations so staff can prepare.

Yes, Roots is kid-friendly and frequently visited by families. Guests mention children running around, a children’s menu or options, and servers who go out of their way to make kids feel welcome. For a smoother experience with young children, consider an earlier seating and call ahead to confirm menu options and seating comfort.

There’s no single “best” day, Roots is open daily and offers consistent food and service across the week. Guests often recommend weekdays or early-dinner reservations to avoid the busiest weekend or prime evening crowds. If you want a lively atmosphere, weekend nights are popular; for a quieter experience, aim for weekday lunch or early dinner.

Yes, Roots operates daily and guests report dining there on holidays (examples include Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s Eve). Because holidays can be busy, make a reservation in advance and confirm any special holiday hours or prix-fixe menus with the restaurant.

Yes, Roots has outdoor patio and terrace seating with ocean/garden views and is frequently praised for its outside seating. Guests love the seaside ambiance but note the patio can be a thoroughfare for hotel guests and sometimes breezy; if you want a quieter patio spot, request an alcove when you reserve.
