Rough Creek Lodge is the epitome of a luxury "lodge" experience. Recently, my family and I went to the RCL for Easter Brunch. What a treat!! Incredible high end buffet curated by the Master Chef, Gerard Thompson. We were served the freshest fruits/specialty salads, multiple brunch items using fresh locally raised ingredients, a melt in your mouth beef tenderloin, sushi grade tuna rolls, and ending with delectable deserts. The dining room staff was delightful, professional, and attentive as always! Fantastic service. We wanted for nothing. Hugs all around!!

Inside was lovely. Outdoor patio had worn out carpet for flooring. Not a five-star patio.

It is the only dining option on property and the next closest options are over 20 minutes away. You are given the choice of a 2 course menu for $110 or a three course menu for $120. The food is mediocre at best. I would compare it to the quality that you would receive at the Cheesecake Factory. If I only have the option of spending $100+ on a meal, I expect it to be great, or at least better than what I can prepare myself at home. However this was not the case. The restaurant and lack of alternative dining options is what will keep us from coming back.

Best dinner I have had in a long time. Perfect romantic evening with the hubby. Wish it was not so expensive……… but makes it more special for special occasions. Very nice touch as the chef comes to talk to the guests.

Upon arrival I was told I did not have reservations. I showed Rough Creek that I had a confirmation from Open Table but, they said they did not honor Open Table reservations. However, we were promptly seated for dinner. The Food and Beverage manager requested that I email the Open Table reservation after she provided me her business card which I did. Strange that Open Table and Rough Creek Lodge are confused. Excellent dinner with my wife with cocktails and a nice wine. I observed on the menu in very small print that a 21% "service charge" would be added which I am glad I had observed. However, when the bill was presented I noticed that the 21% service charge had been added, however; the bill was presented with the total and provided space for a gratuity. I was glad I had read the fine print and didn't add an additional 20% gratuity. Another 20% onto a $425 check would have been way over priced for the experience.

FAQs

Yes, Rough Creek Lodge is a popular choice for a romantic, special-occasion dinner. Guests describe a luxurious lodge atmosphere, breathtaking views from the dining room, and attentive, professional service. The chef often visits tables, which adds a personal touch. Expect a casual-elegant dress code and prix-fixe dinner options that skew upscale and are pricier than average, so it’s ideal for anniversaries or a memorable night out. Reservations are recommended.

Portion sizes vary by service: brunch offerings (like special holiday buffets) have been described as generous, with many fresh selections, while evening dinner is presented as chef-driven, seasonal courses, expect refined, plated portions typical of upscale lodge dining rather than oversized helpings. If you prefer larger portions, brunch or multi-course menus may feel more plentiful; consider asking staff about portioning when you reserve.

The ambience is lodge-style luxury with stunning views, warm hospitality, and a casual-elegant tone. Guests frequently praise the atmosphere as romantic and special-occasion worthy, noting professional, attentive service and creative, seasonal cuisine. There are occasional notes about patio wear, but overall guests describe a memorable, upscale lodge dining experience ideal for celebrations and romantic dinners.

Yes, call the restaurant or resort before your visit to discuss dietary needs, seating preferences, or special-occasion touches. Guests report attentive service and that the chef engages with diners, so staff are accustomed to accommodating requests. Note that private-party options are not advertised, so major group requests are best confirmed in advance with the property.

There’s no explicit public information about a waiting list. Because Rough Creek Lodge is the primary on-site dining option and sees busy holiday and weekend service, we recommend making a reservation in advance and calling the restaurant if you expect to arrive late or need flexibility; staff can confirm current booking and waitlist policies.

Yes, the restaurant has operated special holiday service in the past (guests report an Easter Brunch), so it can be open for holidays and special events. Holiday hours may vary, so call ahead or check with the resort for specific holiday menus and reservation availability.

Families do dine at Rough Creek Lodge, and guests have enjoyed holiday and family meals there; however, the dining style is casual-elegant and there’s no mention of a kids’ menu. For younger children consider an early seating and call ahead to ask about menu flexibility or high chairs. The atmosphere suits family celebrations as well as romantic dinners.

If you want atmosphere and a special outing, weekends (especially for brunch or Friday/Saturday dinner) are excellent. If you prefer a quieter, more intimate experience, choose a weekday evening (Mon–Thu). For family-focused brunches, weekend holiday services like Easter have been well-received by guests.

For a lively, special-occasion experience go on weekend evenings or holiday brunches, guests praise weekend brunch and Friday/Saturday dinners for atmosphere and special menus. If you prefer a quieter meal or a more intimate dinner, choose a weekday (Mon–Thu) evening or an early seating. Reservations are smart either way, since the lodge is the primary on-site dining option and can draw many guests.

Busiest: weekend brunches and Friday–Saturday dinners tend to be the liveliest times, especially around holidays (guests describe busy Easter brunches). Quietest: weekday evenings (Mon–Thu) and early dinner seatings usually feel more relaxed. If you prefer a calm meal, pick a weekday or an early seating and reserve in advance.

The restaurant requests casual elegant / business casual attire. Guests often dress up for dinner and date-night evenings, so smart, polished clothing is appropriate to match the refined lodge atmosphere. If you’re unsure about specifics for a special event, call ahead.

Rough Creek Lodge serves all three meals with specific hours for each service. Breakfast runs Mon–Fri 7:00 am–10:00 am and Sat–Sun 7:00 am–11:00 am. Lunch is Mon–Fri 11:30 am–2:00 pm and Sat–Sun 12:00 pm–2:00 pm. Dinner is Mon–Thu, Sun 6:00 pm–9:00 pm and Fri–Sat 5:30 pm–9:00 pm. Check ahead for special holiday service times or seasonal changes.

Families do dine here, guests have enjoyed holiday brunches and family meals, and the dining room accommodates groups. The listing doesn’t specify accessible seating, so if you need wheelchair access or other accommodations, call ahead to confirm. For family visits, brunch has been noted as plentiful and welcoming; for younger children consider timing (earlier seatings) and asking staff about suitable seating upon booking.
