The menu follows a Southern-fried meat-and-three concept, meaning diners order a meat, plus three sides. Those will include Ruthie’s mac and cheese, of course, but also white-soy-braised greens, stewed chickpeas and smoked cauliflower with a spicy soy glaze. “We’re going to be changing it a lot based on seasonality,” Hill says of the menu. “ Every vegetable has got to be fantastic because it has to stand on its own.” One thing that will help that: Hill is already growing all of the restaurant’s own herbs at his South Arlington community garden plot.

I've eaten here twice already with plans to keep coming back. Their food is very good, and they have friendly and professional staff that provide great customer service.

We arrived a bit early for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away. Quick, attentive service, the portions were generous and the food was very good. We were seated outside so the noise level was fine. I’m a retired restaurant lifer and very happy to have a quality place like Ruthie’s All Day in the neighborhood.

This is the second time I have visited Ruthies All Day and sat at the outdoor patio. Both times we have had excellent service, excellent food, and an overall excellent experience.

We were a group of 6 for brunch. We started with orders of both the deviled eggs and cornbread; both excellent and worth ordering. For our mains we ordered: Fried Chicken Cobb (Great), pimento sandwich (worth ordering), vegetable benedict (Great), grain salad (hearty, but light), breakfast plate (standard). We really enjoyed brunch, but loved dinner, so will probably come back for dinner again next.

We didn't order breakfast cocktails, but saw some come out, which looked very nice and colorful. It was pretty busy, so it looked like the bar may have been a little backed up, but everyone around us looked happy.

Also, order dessert. The campfire cookies were amazing. Unbelievable. I am mad at myself that we skipped dessert after dinner on our first visit.

great food, a tad expensive.

love the variety of food.

I thought the "starters" would be made to order; however, the cornbread was a tad "less than" warm.

Politely attentive service. Tasty brunch menu options, so long as you’re not being hyper-sensitive about calorie counts. Skillet cornbread appetizer is a tasty treat for a few shared nibbles between a group of four. Any main option with a biscuit will leave you full and happy.

We entered a highly lively atmosphere heightened by concrete flooring, an expansive space my brisket was tender and smokey. The sides of cheesey mac n' cheese and creamy coleslaw were traditional tasty comfort accompaniments; the charred brussels sprouts with fish sauce was awesome. The substantial portions unfortunately did not leave us with room for dessert...next time! Ruthie's is a terrific neighborhood spot to relieve the stresses of the week (parking is not a problem, no worries there!).

Very good food and generous servings. Noise level beyond comfort. The noise level distracted from the dinner. Something needs to be done with the noise before I would return.

Dont soak the grilled shrimp in curry sauce. The shrimp with old bay is enough. Delicious! Butterscotch pudding is the best close to a terrific dinner.

Better service than previous visit, and seemed like fuller staffing. Portions are huge, even for a meat-and-three diner. French fries were least successful side. Smoked brisket was good but could have been a touch moister. Would welcome some classic sandwich options (egg salad, ham salad, pimento cheese). Cookies and ice cream dessert also huge, so two cookies came home.

Some of our food was very good, especially the Mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts. We both had brisket, I thought it was way too salty and had to cut off pieces of the seasoned coating for edible pieces. Pinot Noir was overpriced for quality and quantity poured. Cauliflower overwhelmed by the smokiness and the odd sauce it had. But overtaking all the good and mediocre food was the noice level it was almost painfully loud. They definitely need some sound deadening materials added for me to want to dine inside again. Menu had some promising offerings—might try again on day when we could eat outside because of Tom Seitsema’s good review.

This was my second visit to Ruthie's. My first was very disappointing and I decided to give it another try as I kept hearing rave reviews from friends. I was not disappointed this time. The food was excellent. The service was prompt - I barely sat down when the waiter came and provided water and menus. Food was delivered quickly and the salmon was cooked exactly how I asked. Waiter was friendly and checked in appropriately. Bus boys were quick to remove dirty dishes from table. All in all a much better experience than my last in April. I definitely will return.

I had the (half-cooked) roasted chicken. Thankfully the staff replaced it with the grilled salmon (delicious).

I was hardly checked on and had to wave down the actual bartender to get a refill on my drink.

The acoustics indoors is quite bouncy so it was super loud.

One of our favorite dining destinations, the food is always consistently delicious and the staff makes such an effort to get to know you which we always appreciate. We recently celebrated my husband's birthday there and it was terrific from start to finish!

Lunch with a girl friend. We had a difficult time choosing our entrees- so many great choices. Deviled eggs were yummy, salads (chicken and salmon) both excellen. Servings are large. Lunch time very busy, but we'll be back for more choices soon.

The food and the service were great and I especially appreciate the attention the staff takes for diners like myself with celiac disease. My only quibble is that the restaurant is extremely loud and you have to almost shout to talk, which does not make for as relaxing and experience as it would be if you could talk in a more normal indoor voice.

Ruthie’s is our new favorite go-to for date night, brunch, hang out with friends for good times and even better food. Highly recommend the corn bread, ribs, Ruthie’s Big Plate, HASH BROWNS, and donuts. Bonus, the coffee is a counter culture beans!

The waiter seemed as though he wished he were anywhere other than at work. But the big complaint is the NOISE level. You could hardly think the din was so overwhelming. I generally am not too bothered by restaurant noise but it was all I could concentrate on. My dining companion sitting right next to me finally gave up and stoped talking. He couldn’t hear but every third or fourth word I said. Perhaps if we sat outside it would have been better.

Have used Ruthie's for take out twice and have had wonderful meals. Branzino, pulled port, brussels sprouts are wonderful. First time dining "in" at Ruthie's; did patio for lunch and had the grain salad; yummy. Tasted the hush puppies which were delicious. Service was a bit slow but staff may have been changing shifts.

Our party consisted of people who have all become regular diners at Ruthie's All Day. We each continue to find new gems on the menu, and the grilled octopus appetizer was even better than in the past. It was also great to see that every table - indoors and outdoors - was occupied on a weeknight. Clearly, RAD has become a go-to restaurant for many in this area who enjoy excellent food in a neighborhood atmosphere.

Did not live up to hype of Post review. We were there for lunch. My salad was missing a number of key ingredients so had little taste. Cocktails just not that good. Waiter mediocre. I kept thinking maybe lunch is not the right meal and perhaps brunch or dinner better? Cute place and I hope it was just an aberration.

The hostess was lovely. The waiter very helpful, friendly & attentive. The food was fabulous. They had a short rib special that might and I got that. Holy smokes it was huge. I couldn't begin to finish it. It had the perfect amount of smokiness to it. I loved that BBQ sauce was not put on the meat- many of us just prefer the deliciously seasoned, smokey meat as is. The greens, mac n cheese & biscuits were wonderful. My companion had brisket, Kimchi dirty rice & fennel/arugula salad & he loved it. We also got the cornbread skillet as an appetizer- GET THIS! It is just a little sweet & the sweetened butter on top really works perfectly. It was a little loud but not so much you couldn't converse. We look forward to going back & trying other dishes.

Third visit in a month. Looking forward to another. Most recent meal was Cobb salad with fried chicken. Superb. Besides the usual avocado, bacon, romaine, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese, cakes, deviled eggs & great fried chicken breast were great. A hearty meal in a bowl. Shrimp filled hush puppies incredibly light. Looking forward to trying weekend brunch.
