Our lunch was our third experience with Shepherd and Sims. We've enjoyed all three times, but this was our 1st trying the Reuben sandwich. It's very tasty with a great mix of meat to condiments. We also enjoyed the chicken curry soup, and their fries are always great. Just a couple of nitpicks. #1 Everything is ala carte. Order a sandwich, and the fries are extra. $5 Extra!. #2 When we pay by credit card, I find it silly that you then charge us the credit card fees. It's the cost of doing business, and if you wish to pass that on, then include it in the price of the food. Tacking it onto the bill with no forewarning looks more like nickel and diming pettiness. Overall, I enjoy it, but for the nitpicks, my ratings would have been higher.

We’ve been to shepherd & sims three times, two date nights and one with family who was visiting. Each visit has been consistent: taste and quality of food solid, and service always on point. The prices are also reasonable for a nicer restaurant. This last visit the manager felt bad for two of the dishes coming later than the others and making our family member wait, but honestly it wasn’t a long wait at all. They still accommodated us by comping dessert. I definitely recommend Shepherds & Sims as a go to for a date night or a nice outing with family/friends.

What a delightful experience! This was our second visit to Shepherd & Sims, and we decided at this visit, we would bring our family and friends and those visiting from out of town this Summer. Great menu that slightly shifted from our first visit, and great specials. I ordered the special at each visit, which is unusual for me. We celebrated a birthday and I MUST mention the bread pudding!! The food is creative and DELICIOUS, great drinks, and the standout for us, both visits, was the service. Looking forward to our next visit to Shepherd & Simms

Food & Service always great. AC was broken on a very hot day (Easter Brunch), so made the gathering less enjoyable. Hope they get it fixed soon!

I ordered the Catch of the Day which was seabass I was told it would be pan seared but there was no skin or searing. It was chewy not flaky so quite disappointed. The service too was slow & we had ti wait quite a while between courses.

The restaurant accepts credit cards, but several guests note a 3% surcharge for credit-card payments that’s printed on the bill/menu in small type. Cash is commonly accepted as well, and guests advise checking the bill or asking staff about payment options when you’re seated to avoid surprises.

Families do dine here, and guests often bring children for brunch, lunches, and celebrations. The menu focuses on farm-to-table entrees and creative small plates rather than a dedicated kids’ menu, so consider sharing plates or ordering familiar dishes for younger diners. For a smoother visit with kids, try an early seating, patio seating, or call ahead to ask about kid-friendly options.

Portions are generally moderate and well suited for an entree-focused meal; guests often share appetizers and praise the salads and seafood. A number of guests mentioned some dishes are on the smaller side (for example two scallops or three small meatballs) and recommended ordering an appetizer or sharing plates if you’re especially hungry. Prices can feel premium for the area, so pairing a shared starter with an entree is a common approach.

Yes, Shepherd & Sims has outdoor seating, including a front patio that guests frequently enjoy for brunch and dinner. The patio is popular for gatherings and quieter al fresco meals, though some guests note sun exposure or tent coverage can vary and to call ahead about heaters or shaded spots in warm or cool weather.

Yes, Shepherd & Sims is a popular spot for date nights and special occasions. Guests frequently celebrate anniversaries and birthdays here, enjoying thoughtfully prepared dishes, creative cocktails, and a lively, modern dining room with a full bar. Note that the dining room can get lively and a bit noisy on busy weekend nights, so for a quieter experience try an early seating, a weekday night, or request a patio table if available. Reservations are recommended for peak evenings.

For a lively night out go on a Friday or Saturday evening when the restaurant fills up and the energy is high. For a quieter, more relaxed meal choose weekday lunch, early dinner, or an early weekend brunch. Happy hour (daily afternoons) is also popular for cocktails and small plates. If you prefer less noise, avoid peak weekend dinner hours and request a patio or early seating.

Warm, modern, and lively, Shepherd & Sims mixes an open, contemporary dining room with a bustling bar and a pleasant front patio. Overall it’s a comfortable neighborhood spot that works well for celebrations, dates, and casual dinners when you don’t mind a vibrant atmosphere.

For a lively vibe choose Friday or Saturday night; for a quieter, more relaxed visit pick a weekday (Monday–Thursday) or weekday lunch. Sunday evenings and weekend brunches are popular too, brunch can be pleasant on the patio.
