About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Lively
  • Good for special occasions
Shogun is a teppan steak and sushi fine dining restaurant. This restaurant is just as much as about entertainment as it is about great cuisine. Here, diners sit at tables that are attached to a large flat hibachi grill. Once patrons make their order, their own personal hibachi chef cooks up their meal right in front of them, complete with a few tricks to keep it fun. Shogun features several robust and flavorful appetizers. Guests have their pick of items like chili-spiced edamame, chicken yakitori, calamari rings served with sweet and sour sauce as well as deep fried pork dumplings. For entrées, guests can either order something from the hibachi grill or try one of Shogun's many sushi dinners. If guests want the best of both worlds, there is always the option to order a sushi roll as an appetizer before moving on to the grilled courses.

We had a reservation at 6 pm, but was not seated till 20 minutes after. When we sat down we asked how should we be seated, the host told us to seat anywhere, after we had all sat down. She changed her mind and told us to move to a certain spot. It felt clumsy. We then waited for about another 30 minutes to even order. And we waited for another 15 min for our soup and drinks to even come out. We arrived at 6 pm but did not start eating until 7:30 PM. We came to celebrate a birhtday but it felt like the chef who was with us was not really enjoying his time with us. The server Cai was very kind to us though. And in the end they sang a song and gave us a complimentary dessert for the birthday, that was also thoughtful of them.

This is not our first time at Shogun...I've been coming here since the 1990's, early 2000's. It's probably my first time in about a year...it's always a good time and reliable as far as the menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see updated menus and platewear. They did do away with our favorite item, but it was ok...I ordered my shrimp on the side. We always order the filet, chicken and shrimp with the fried rice. Our chef, Chris was AMAZING...he was the best part of the experience. I was celebrating my birthday with friends. Our food was well seasoned and we had good conversation with Chris. Although I had a reservation that I was able to make easily for 6:45, we weren't seated until about 7:05...we had drinks in the bar area, which was fine. The worst part of the experience is our appetizers...the fries were cold, then they brought out hard, greasy ones...we ultimately sent them back. My friends ordered the tempura shrimp and the tempura was undercooked and mushy, so that was sent back as well. Overall it was a decent experience and I am sure I will be back. CHRIS WAS GREAT!!!

I never give reviews, except this time I will not stay quiet. Quality of the food poor, however hygiene at the hibachi table was deplorable. Public health should be notified and restaurant shut down. No AC. Chef constantly wiped his perspired face with his sleeve while cooking in 90 degree heat. Chef contaminated food by taking shimp out of our dirty plates back onto the grill to cut into bite size pieces while using the same utensils to cook everyone's food. We were appalled, but more shocked when the chef from the next table was throwing food into people's mouth. For those who missed, chef re-collected the food and threw it back for another round of "catch" using the same utensils for cooking. Eat at your own risk. Benihana is worth the wait.

Made a reservation but had to wait at bar for over 20 minutes. Wait time for drinks at table was too sporadic. One of our guests never got her beer while others sharing out table were served promptly. Steaks were full of fat. We requested knives to remove the fat and showed the server what we ended up with. They took 10% off one steak meal only explaining that ribeyes are mostly 'fatty' steaks. Love hibachi but won't be back to Shogun any time soon.
