Shojin is a truly unique dining concept – crafting completely vegan Japanese cuisine served in a bright and friendly atmosphere in downtown Los Angeles. Appetizer plates, such as the kabocha pumpkin croquette with a tangy tomato sauce and the spicy tempura shiitake mushrooms with wasabi mayo, speak to it’s commitment to flavorful, natural fare. House specialties include the lotus root cutlet garlic katsu steak with spicy barbecue sauce, the “ramen of the century” with noodles, soy chunks, eggplant and asparagus in a cloudy broth, and the sweet orange soy chicken served atop quinoa. Shojin also has a delectable array of vegan-friendly sushi rolls, such as the “pirates of the crunchy”, fried tempeh with spicy mayo and avocado in a green chili and spicy beet sauce.
Shojin not only gives macrobiotic and vegan food an exotic, Japanese twist, but it also makes it accessible and fun for all diners.
