Squid ink pasta and short ribs were delicious! Loved the atmosphere and service
We had a mostly positive experience at our recent lunch. When we came in, the back area was noisy, so I asked to be seated in the front area and we got a nice table there. The service was courteous and timely. My salmon, which I asked for well done, was cooked as requested and delicious. My friend ordered the Gem salad, and this is where one issue arose - the hard-boiled egg was not cooked through, and so she did not eat it. Had I realized it at the time, I would have pointed it out and I am sure it would have been remedied, but unfortunately she did not mention it until after we left the restaurant. So, with that blip, it was a good meal.
I have been going to Somerset since it opened earlier this year and I feel the quality of the dining experience has declined significantly. The service still remains inexperienced and a bit unprofessional.
The outdoor seating is odd-and the four + tops use a room and board sofa for one side of the seating and the sofa is well below the height of the other seating. Not optimal. The BOKA group or the hotel should have seating that is uniform in height.
Also, they eliminated their week night supper special, clearly a cost-cutting move, perhaps it was a lost leader to attract a younger crowd. What’s left are a lot of $30-$40 entrées. No value there.
Still, the food is of good quality, the summer vegetables and salads are delicious and reflect the thoughtful approach of the chef.
Absolutely delicious! Food was quality and flavors unique. We dined outside and the atmosphere was relaxing. Would definitely recommend patronizing this establishment!
Good food with reasonable price. Casual but still sophisticated. Ideal for brunch gathering and dinner of all kinds of occasions.
One of the best brunch spots in Chicago! We're regulars.
The five of us came together to celebrate our closest friend and her upcoming nuptials . While it was our first time as a group in Chicago, no one in the restaurant let us believe we were newcomers. We most certainly enjoyed our experience and I believe we will come visit again during future outings.
We appreciate each member of the staff, from our hostesses to the gentleman who promptly assisted in delivery of our needs.
Most importantly, thank you to Jonah for being a wonderful server. Sending out love to you and to Somerset.
-Alexandria and the ladies...
Loud but delicious
Great spot for brunch with friends! Lively environment in a gorgeous spacious setting. It was hopping around Saturday brunch time! I enjoyed a Bellini and the veggie scramble - eggs were cooked perfectly not too runny not too over cooked. Friends had avocado toast and the kale salad both of which looked amazing. It was a rainy afternoon but I would definitely return again for lunch on the patio!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Somerset is the perfect place to have a casual/yet fine dining experience. The staff is fantastic and caters to your every need, while the food is exceptional. This excludes the ambiance which takes you back to a 1920s Gatsby-esque night out. If you’re looking for great food, service and atmosphere, definitely a must in Chicago.
Service was terrible! Food, although good, was overpriced for what you got. Would not go back
Food was excellent -- service was as well. Thank you for making our celebratory lunch so special! XOXO
First time there. We sat in the courtyard. Lovely setting. Food was delicious. Definitely will come back.
Great lunch atmosphere. Service was extremely slow.
It was a little loud for a business meal, but everyone raved about the food! The setting is a great!
The food was just OK. Nothing special and the wine selection was limited.
Ambiance was great! Food was fine but service was not great. Our waiter was inattentive and then quick to rush us out even though the restaurant was not busy.
Great food and excellent service by Stephanie S. Always a great meal!
I really liked the decor and the menu was really good. I had the fried chicken and french toast and tried the burger as well. Both were very good.
We were celebrating my 50th birthday. Had a reservation at seven on a Saturday night. I loved this restaurant and highly recommend it! The food was perfection our server was perfect and the bartender was great. It is a gorgeous space! We do have one major complaint: we felt rushed. We were finished with our entire meal including cocktails appetizers salad main course and dessert in 40 minutes. When we put our fork down the next course was already there and we really hate that especially when it’s a special occasion on a Saturday night we like to take our time and linger a bit. We were told that the kitchen has to have The entire order all at once. There was a woman with an iPad hovering around the tables updating the status, I assume letting the hostess know the turnover time for each table. We wanted to stay longer so after we paid our check we went to the bar and sat and ordered another drink!
Al was a great host & made it a wonderful experience.
Thank you Somerset for serving up a fabulous meal for my birthday dinner.
The place is really cool. Very mid century modern kind of cool. Food was delicious and staff was super friendly. Made us feel welcome and valued. Noise is high.
Chef Lee's menu is exquisite. The Spanish octopus was incredible, and both of our meals were exceptional. The service was top notch as well. I would happily go back.
I came here with my girlfriends I’ve known for over 40 years, what a wonderful meal! We all had the meat dishes my short ribs were exquisite and I heard the hanger steak was just as good! The service was great, the atmosphere calm relaxing and very comfortable. I will definitely be touring with my friends and family!
We have been to Somerset multiple times and brought some out of town guests this time around. It was a beautiful night with a wait for outside (even with a reservation), but we were offered a booth right by the front windows, so we were still able to enjoy the beautiful night. And, the inside of the restaurant is stunning, so being inside is not the end of the world.
Our server was very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. Just the right amount of attention and checking in. All of the support staff was equally as great.
Our food was outstanding. We had some old favorites— the kale salad ( I *literally get this every time I am there it's that good), the Cod fritters ( our favorite app) and Charred octopus. Everything was new for our friends and they were blown away with the food. We also had the mushroom gnocchetti ( life-changing), the lamb chops with lamb sausage (our friend kept going on and on about it) and the pork chop (a large chop with a unique preparation). All new dishes were excellent and there was nothing in the bunch that we did not like. We also had a lovely bottle of Syrah after our initial cocktails to pair with dinner.
This is a great place for a special occasion, a date-night or even just a random pop-in. I love places that have an eclectic mix of guests and that can tick all the boxes for each and every one of them. It's not an inexpensive meal, but we did not hold back and ordered what we wanted. Also, I would say the value is right on par with the food, presentation and overall experience. Do yourself a favor and go here!
The meal was delightful.
Decent apps and wine. Entree was avg at best.
A great spot for lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. Everything we ate was awesome!
We arrived on time with a reservation. The hostess sat the couple without a reservation by the open window. There were no tables left for us so we sat in the back.
Next level dining experience. My new favorite restaurant in Chicago.
It was out first time here. We were very impressed with the great service and how pretty the restaurant was. Our server was amazing and helpful. There were 5 of us in the party and every single one of our meals were on point. Very good food and great atmosphere. I will be recommending this restaurant to family and friends.
Food was really mediocre- not impressed! I could have made a better salad than the one I ordered.
Service is a little slow. It has been several times I’ve eaten outside. I go back because the food is so good.
I’ve been to Somerset for brunch, lunch and dinner many many times. This is one of my favorite places in town. I keep bringing friends here. Last time, my friends mentioned their food wasn’t that good. I thought they are being picky. However, this time I had the same experience. The food quality was not as good as I was used to have. I will definitely give it another chance to make sure these two experiences were just coincidences.
Great place for brunch Very creative food
Second brunch at Somerset...it is becoming our ‘go to’ brunch spot.
I do not remember the hound man’s name that was serving us on the patio...but he was awesome...
If you made a reservation, I would ask to be seated inside. The outdoor area is nice, but we got seated at the worlds smallest table, back in a corner.
It was good service and the servers were very friendly to my new date and myself. I would also recommend their food at somerset pretty good with a nice brunch selection to chose from their brunch menu. Somerset are always a good Sunday brunch option to be going out with some friends, family or your significant other.
