Steamboat House Prime Rib
Slow cooked to perfection (subject to availability)
The weather outside was horrid (raining hard) so there weren't many guests. The staff did a good job of taking care of us and the food was very good. I had a ribeye; my wife had a porterhouse and both were cooked medium rare like we ordered. The meat had a wonderful flavor however they were over salted. Nonetheless we plan to return and remind the chef to watch the salt (it really was overly salted) because the meat quality was excellent. I love prime rib and look forward to trying yours if I can find out when it is served.
Great food and service. The staff was awesome especially LEXI as she was very thoughtful. It was my birthday and made us feel like family. Thank you. David Goolsby Kingwood, Texas. 281-413-1138
Víctor, our waiter, is outstanding! It’s a great place. We want to come back very soon!!
What better way to make your wife happy on Valentines Day or impress your clients to take them to SteamBoat House for dinner! I was invited by an Associate ten years ago and this is where I bring all my out-of-town guests for great drinks, food and a little knowledge of Texas history, all rapped into one great night of pleasure!
The quality and the experience has all been TOP NOTCH whether your a connoisseur of libations, seafood, steaks or just fine food! And yes I DO NOT work for Steamboat House or nor do not have any affiliations with them! ENJOY Y'ALL!!!
Valentine’s Day dinner or any special occasion this is our place to be. The food, the ambiance and the service is always spot on.
Excellent food and service everytime. Close to home.
Party of 4 ... my steak came out lukewarm, 2 of my guests steaks were the wrong doneness... the calamari appetizer was bland. Whats the deal with all the gnats/fruit flies flying around my table?? The asparagus I ordered was terrific and my server did an excellent job. This was my 2nd time dining with you and my first time was much better. Thanks
Made a reservation for 8:15p but was able to be seated 30 minutes earlier which was appreciated. Food came out quickly after ordering.
We came last year for my Bday and Bday so we decided to return again this year. But we weren't as pleased. The staff was nice and friendly but the menus selections were the best this time, service was slow and I stated on the phone that I was coming fory birthday and it wasn't acknowledge until I stated it. Last year the table was set up nicely with a card on the table for me. One of our guest spent $175 for their meal but the service or food wasn't $175 worth. Needless to say we will celebrate at another location next year.
Steaks were over cooked and all came out under sized from what was advertised on the menu.
the food was great s usual. the mixed drinks however did not improve from all the previous visits. they dont put any alchol in the mixed drinks...soo sad
We made the reservation for my birthday, and it happened to be on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day. We were shown to our table and given menus. There is no bar menu and the selection of liquor is very poor (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, etc). No high end or allocated options, which is very disappointing for a steakhouse.
We ordered bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer, which came out with the shrimp still raw. They did take it back and bring us new ones which were cooked. (You get 4 for $20). Most places would comp the appetizer for the error, but we were charged for both appetizers (the raw one that was uneaten and the replacement) We had to ask to have one taken off the bill.
I ordered the seafood platter and it was ok, and my husband had a ribeye ordered medium rare that came out over cooked and had no sauce or butter on top so it was very dry. All in all, a very disappointing meal for the price point. We ended up skipping dessert.
From the time we were seated to the time we left was 45 minutes. Super rushed and definitely not the higher end experience we thought we would have. I’d recommend staying with Perry’s, Morton’s, or another reputable steakhouse for a better experience. We really wanted to like the place as it has a cool building, but the food and service were not up to snuff.
Scott was our server on the day before Valentine’s Day and he was great. For the occasion, the restaurant set up their private dining room for couples only. Very thoughtful and nicely decorated. My 16oz ribeye cooked Rare was perfect. Wife had the petite filet and it looked good to me and she ate the whole thing. A wonderful evening before the storm. Thanks!
This is the restaurant we selected due to a previous positive experience during Restaurant Weeks. The food was amazing. I really enjoyed the Museum of the restaurant. This was an upscale, fun, and entertaining experience. I will definitely be back.
The reviews and website is very deceiving The parking lot is very dark, the hostess did not have any knowledge of the historic items inside their establishment, the Valentine decorations were a cheap dirty glass item with a dead flower inside, we had no silverware or napkins when they brought the bread, my drink was delivered without any condiments, the Broccoli did not have the stems trimmed off, the potatoes with herb looked and tasted like it came from a school cafeteria, the Prime Rib $68 was so gummy and fat that we couldn't cut it. I believe their website draws customers in but it is nothing like the reviews that they have posted. It was the worst dining experience we have ever seen and will never go back.
We went here for Valentines dinner and it was amazing!! Always great service and amazing food!!
Great customer service. Great restaurant for a get to her.
Service was great and the food was delicious, spread great Texas history
The food was outstanding, but unfortunately the salad was served followed about 2 minutes later by the entrees. So, mine was cold by the time I started. They comp’d a round of drinks for that which was nice, and overall dinner was very good, I just wish it would have been spaced better and not rushed, as the place was not crowded.
Decent place to bring visitors especially for Texas history.
We celebrated my mother's 91st birthday with family friends . The food was outstanding and prepared perfectly. The service & attention-to-detail were excellent. Touring the Texas historical artifacts, after dinner, was an added bonus to a great dining experience.
Great food and service as always. Perfect place for a special occasion.
Great service. Food was delicious.
My favorite and the best steakhouse in Texas, which means the best in the USA!
Over the years, We have enjoyed Steamboat many times for both business and personal occasions. However, this time the vegetables were undercooked, service was average at best, considering few diners were in the restaurant and the steak was delicious but the crab topping was tasteless. My wife noticed the restroom door handle was falling apart and not as clean as in the past. Our group wanted to order an after dinner cappuccino and we were told the unit broke and it isn’t being replaced. We had coffee but the experience didn’t meet our expectations. I have had many events over the years and everyone was impressed with the entire experience....... not this time. With so many excellent restaurants to choose from, it may be awhile before we chance another event or personal meal.
No place like it. Rich in service food and history. Great place to go eat and refresh your mind on a little Texas history.
Great ambiance, especially for a history buff, great food and service.
On this visit it was my brother’s birthday. We have visited in the past and have had excellent food and service. Today was no exception. For his birthday dessert they brought out a wonderful chocolate covered ice cream dish. It is also a great place for business lunches and large company meetings. You must try it out.
Everything was fantastic!
Very good service and food. Relaxing atmosphere.
Always the best steaks in Houston!
Never disappointed here.
By far our go to Steak House.
I have dined at Steamboat before this passed Saturday. I was always been given a table somewhere in the main dining room, but never in a corner.
The only way the server could serve the people across the table from myself was to reach over my back all evening. This was annoying at best!
I could not enjoy the various pictures / wall décor, because I was looking directly at a wall two feet ahead.
As we departed the main dining room. I did take noticed that we was dressed like everyone else. Was it the 5:00pm time?
Mark this visit was my last. I will be visiting Taste of Texas in the future.
This wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience. We felt like we were eating in a museum. It was definitely a conversation started.
Seafood was fresh and seasoned to perfection and the peach Bellini was refreshing.
Ok, except price is too high.
Our first time to Steamboat. One of the steaks was way undercooked. We sent it back. It took a while to get the steak back and by then my steak was cold as I waited since I did not want to eat alone. The Texas-decor, the ambiance was wonderful, but we were really disappointed with the attitude of the manager. We spoke with her when she brought the steak out, and then again when we left letting her know our disappointment. She did not take any type of percentage off of the steak when we got the bill for our inconvenience. We expected at least something off for our inconvenience, that is normally the standard when they don't cook it right the first time.
This is a wonderful place to go for steaks and a history lesson. Prime rib is superb. Always come early so you can spend time looking at all the history on the walls.
We went out for New Year’s Eve and wanted to try a place we hadn’t been before. Steamboat Steakhouse was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! We will definitely return to this restaurant.
We had a wonderful time delicious food and great service!
We have been a customer for years and the service was excellent. Food was great and we enjoy being surrounded with Texas history. Great place
The restaurant was great overall. The food and service was excellent. If you ever get to go ask for Jonathan, he took wonderful care of me and my family on Christmas Eve.
