We had a great experience last time but this time we couldn't even get a booking. Although the booking was confirmed, i received a call on the day saying that there were only 3pm spots left for lunch.....was disappointing since it was my sons birthday, which i indicated when booking.
I tried to go directly to the restaurant but they said they were fully booked even though there was only 2 very small groups anywhere close by.....oh well the first time we went was nice

We had Sunday lunch at Stix & Stones as it was a stop on a long bike ride from Richmond to Diamond Creek and back. Staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing us to leave our bikes out the back in their shed. Our server, we believe her name was Jess, was very chatty, it was a shame the outdoor dining area was closed but she looked after us at a good table in the window. After our long ride we deserved a drink and both chose a refreshing pint before refueling with a burger each - one of us choosing the option of a side salad and the other a portion of chips which we could then share. When we had finished our first drinks we knew we wanted another but also planned to get back on our bikes soon so didn't want pints. We ordered 2 pots of beer from Jess before another waitress brought us 2 pints, therefore we let her know that on this round we had requested pots instead. She went to check a till and was looking very puzzled, my boyfriend and I were wondering what would happen to the pints that she had on her tray so called her back over to the table - we asked if they were going to be thrown away / poured down the sink we would just drink them as we hate waste. She left the pints on the table and we started drinking them, when Jess came to check on us we made a joke about her getting us drunk as we had larger drinks than we ordered - she laughed and said she would only charge us for 2 pots. Later, she came back and told us that her manager said she wasn't allowed to adjust it on the till as we were drinking the pints. We had not asked to be charged less but it had been offered and we know in hospitality it is possible to make adjustments. It seems the manager would've preferred to throw 2 perfectly good pints away and pour fresh pots in order to make the adjustment on the till? Disappointing. Overall not a bad experience but this is what we will remember about the management and therefore not sure we'd ever return.
