handrolls, bincho-tan roasted meats and ice-cold beer; this is not your typical sushi joint. Come in and see for yourself.
We had a late dinner last night.
Octopus tacos (very tiny but delicious), spicy tuna rolland vietnamese pork. Everything was really good, and the waiters super nice. Will go back
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Chicago. Aside from sushi they have a lot of Japanese dishes that are quite delicious. Service is consistently good and welcoming.
Absolute fav! Everything about this place is a vibe. Highly recommend
Great all around! The manager greeted us and what a personality on him. So much fun and wonderful knowledgeable about the drinks and menu.
We ordered apps and moved onto dinner. SO fresh and tasty! Our server was just as wonderful and charming.
Our experience was so delightful, we will return again.
Thank you for such a great evening!
Good food. Good music and good drinks. I think slightly over priced
My first experience to sushi san was great! We went to celebrate my brother’s birthday and could not have had a better time. I highly reccomend getting the kabayaki eel roll and the sesame rocky road ice cream. This place is a bit pricy but overall the food is worth it. Be aware that it does get busy so try to get a reservation if you can, also this place is quite lively so dont expect a quiet dinner
Food was good....especially enjoyed the Tiger Shrimp and Ginger Salmon roll. Looking forward to more variety in the future:-)
Have heard of this restaurant for a long time but have never been there. Finally I came by for lunch and wasn't disappointed at all. I love it so much!!! The sushi is freshly prepared and the flavor is just amazing. What I love most is the dessert. I tried both breakfast pancake and also emochi. The emochi has lots of flavors and make sure to ask the server first.
What a great neighborhood find. Loved every moment of our experience there. Our waiter was fantastic, he was a huge part of our having a great time. The food was excellent and we ended up ordering a second course because it was so good. Definitely coming back.
They use excellent quality fish for the nigiri. It’s good quality Edo style sushi. However, their temaki are very American. I’m not a fan of all the mayo, but others may like that. The one exception is the Toro Oshinko temaki. (Toro Tacuan), which is as good as anything I’ve had in Tokyo. The prices are high, but very reasonable for the quality of fish they are serving. If you want cheaper prices, you will need to go somewhere that sells cheaper cuts of fish.
Overall highly recommended.
Came in at 9:30 and still received the same attention as a 7:00 reservation. Our server had great recommendations, the Aburi with Tuna was exceptional! We probably ordered too many appetizers and didn’t need the pancakes for dessert but just couldn’t resist. We will be back!
We went there for my friend and my birthday and it was a beautiful night filled with delicious food and amazing saki!
Would recommend but not for the sushi. Sushi was nothing special but the rest of the meal was great
Eveythjng was out standing. The quality of the food was very good. Definitely going back again!
Fun vibe and delicious food! Very kind and attentive staff.
The express lunch is a great value. This place is bustling with millennials at lunchtime, which is nice as long as you don't mind raising your voice to engage in a conversation at your own table. I got the express sashimi, and it was delicious. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. There was a slight delay in getting my sashimi, but the soup and salad were served promptly.
The express lunch is so good! It gives you a solid taste of everything.
This was my second time at the restaurant and loved it as much as the first time. My favorites are the aburi and the wonderful choices of roasted vegetables .
Great spot - fun
Food was very fresh which was great but feel a bit overpriced for the amount we got! SERVICE WAS GRAND! A bit hard to hear but incredibly accommodating and server gave great recommendations!
Honestly some of the best sushi I have had, a little different but everything was fresh and the fish is excellent. Awesome experience and I'll have to come back the next time I'm in Chicago
Absolutely superb food, attentive staff and vibrant atmosphere.
Highly, highly recommened
This place continues to dazzle. A friend who visits Japan often said that the sushi at Sushi San is some of the best he has ever had. On this visit (been here often) we enjoyed kimchi pickles and roasted edamame for starters (though items are delivered as they are ready); tempura shrimp and spicy tuna maki; Vietnamese pork (delicious) and Beef 'N Bop sizzling rice dish with short ribs. Wow.
Add an enthusiastic and knowledgeable server (Thanks, Eli) and it was another great dining experience.
Everything was great!
Everything was amazing until we looked at the bill the next day. The manager was treating our party to a few appetizers because we were waiting for our table to be ready longer than they expected. Once we left and saw the bill they charged us for all the “complimentary” appetizers. We didn’t even ask for this.
Bad Quality price ratio
Great place and great food - lots of fun, with good vibes
Best sushi in chicago. Hands down.
Ordered the daily sashimi special (otoro), shishito peppers, bbq lettuce wraps, crunchy spicy tuna rice (5pc), a few cocktails, and a sake bottle. We ate every last drop and rice grain. so tasty. excellent service and ambient make it worth going vs just takeout. Will go again soon !
Great place. Delicious food. Fun and lively vibe. Checkout if you can.
Had a great first experience here- food was amazing and different from classic sushi restaurants. The only con was it is pretty expensive and adds up. Would definitely suggest for a special occasion or just go sit at the bar for a snack and some drinks. Still thinking about how good the food was!!
Good food, slightly crowded but that was to be expected in this area of Chicago.
Great as usual!
I had amazing sex after this dining experience thanks guys!
Not your typical sushi restaurant.
Excellent service and food
Food and ambiance were amazing.
Our service was very bad though.
Great tasting, fresh sushi. It was my first time there and our server was very helpful. he made great suggestions. It was a Saturday night and it was loud. I will definitely go back.
Great place with choices between sushi and work items. The beef skewers and bluefin tuna are amazing!
The fish is soooooooo fresh and tasty!
