Swift & Sons
What Insiders Are Saying
Swift & Sons might have a separate seafood restaurant inside of it, but this steakhouse is the star of the show.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Not too stuffy. Great with our 5 year old. Definitely recommend.
Nice modern swanky restaurant. Very upscale with unique offerings for a steak house. Side of mushrooms was awesome with several types of mushrooms. Aged strip and on bone ribeye were delicious. The filet migon was underwhelming due to lack of flavor. They will serve steaks family style which allowed us to taste all the steaks
Slightly above average food....noise level 'too high'...hard to talk at times...Service was OUTSTANDING!
Swift & Sons is fantastic. Food is delicious with many options if you don't just want a steak. Our server was top notch. This was our second time there and will definitely be going back.
Excellent. Best steak in Chicago, by a mile.
Table side magician was an excellent touch.
Restaurant is huge but has a great atmosphere. The service was efficient and flexible...Meaning we felt free to sit and enjoy our drinks before ordering food and they offered to split things up if we wanted and to bring something else if we did not enjoy their recommendations. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had the crispy shrimp and pierogi appetizers, bone in ribeyes with carbonara Mac and cheese, plus creamed spinach, and the coffee and donuts sundae for dessert. It’s pricey, but worth it:)
We went for dinner before a show at the UC and had such a wonderful dinner! Adam took amazing care of us and we enjoyed every moment. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation.
4 star review as Swift and Sons did mostly what its supposed to do: provide great steak dinners with well crafted drinks with good service....but was it exceptional and worth $500 for dinner for a group of 4....no. Okay, no candle on the table that worked, and we received good service and good food..again, not exceptional. To be fair, that can be said for all good steak houses but won't be rushing back for a good experience and pay that kind of money.
Jose V is the best waiter. We enjoyed him immensely. The food was fantastic. The appetizers were unique like the Tuna Crudo which included blackberry sauce on top of ahi tuna . We will be back.
The food was excellent! Highly recommend the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Also, the Garden Party drink and ice cream. The service and staff made our experience even more outstanding. Thank you!!
Amazing steak! Great wine list.
It was the best steakhouse I’ve been to in Chicago. The food was delicious and had excellent service.

A delicious elegant way to celebrate our 40th anniversary!!!
Outstanding food and service but very noisy to the point of making conversation challenging
By far, Swift & Sons was one of my favorite restaurant experiences. There were 4 of us and we were there for several hours. We ordered oysters and cocktails to start -- all delicious! We then ordered appetizers and salads and a bottle of wine. Again, wonderful. We all ordered different entrees from salmon, pork chops to steaks. And of course, more wine. We were all delightfully impressed with everything. Even the sides (especially the mushrooms) were fantastic! Our service was professional and friendly. The restaurant is gigantic and the noise is sometimes loud, however once you settle in, you become a special table thanks to the outstanding service! Bravo to Swift & Sons!
Terrific place to dine!!!
Wonderful evening. Staff, atmosphere and service were impeccable. The food and specifically the table-side Old Fashioned cart were first rate.
Menu suggestions were right on. Good and long wine list. Staff is very professional
Outstanding. We had an early birthday dinner on Sunday and the food, ambiance, and service were excellent. We had caesar salads, salmon, wagyu, and the creamed corn and fingerling potatoes. All satisfying, rich dishes that were perfectly cooked and we savored every bite. Our host and servers were attentive and anticipated our every need. The moody interior reminded me of a law school library designed in a vintage, industrial chic style and it really added to our overall dining experience. We rounded out the birthday meal with coffee and our host brought us a slice of the most delicious cheesecake to mark the occasion. Initially, we were too full for dessert, but that did not stop us from eating the entire thing!
For a Saturday night the place was empty, the food was amazing, the temperature way too low.
I absolutely love this place. Went for the first time last Wednesday then went back with friends on Saturday. I love everything about it - the service, the drinks and obviously the food. The service has that right mix of attentive but not over-bearing. Planning my next visit already!
Everything was delicious except for the 65 day dry aged ribeye my husband and I shared. It was rather tough and dry. Would not order that again.
The food was outstanding especially the French Onion Soup. Steaks were incredible and definitely left feeling satisfied and full
Best steak I’ve ever eaten!!
We had one of the best Captains I’ve ever experienced - Colter who was beyond proficient with not only the menu but the background behind each food item. The dry aged ribeye was beyond description on taste and my New York strip, with the bordelaise, even though not dry aged was delicious.
It’s a big place and less personal than a traditional Chicago steakhouse but the service and food made up for it.
Our second visit and it exceeded our high expectations. Really loved the tomato burrata salad and the salmon was fantastic. Save room for dessert - had the cheesecake and the s’mores profiterole- awesome. Service was perfect. We will go again.
Overall decent steaks. Definitely not the best around. Side dishes were good, but not great. The seafood platter was good, but not amazing. Overall good place, but, comparable to other steak houses around Chicago, not amazing.
Unfortunately Swift and Sons may have jumped the shark;
disappointed after previously many great experiences and removing this place from our favorite’s list.
1. Poor Cocktail; the bar tender couldn’t get a simple old fashioned properly done. Never mind the ice cubes; ( perhaps they should visit the roof top bar across the street to get inspiration). Unfortunately the table side bar wasn’t available on this Saturday. (Really on Saturday?)
2. Meat had excellent quality, saving grace. And of course the main reason to go to a steak restaurant. However I wish the temperature was better controlled on the medium rare. Strongly seared and seasoned on the outside, inside more rare then medium (fine with us) but didn’t achieve good rendering of the fat throughout. Quite enjoyable still.
3. Appetizers: crab cake and octopus well done, but nothing to rave about. Crab cake had well prepared crab meat, nicely seasoned; still a bit boring.
4. Side dishes: well seasoned yet on the salty side
5. Service: perhaps not the best day; not engaging and actually caring about the customer experience or to consult. I guess we are tagged as “lost cause “
6. Noise level was a bit high w quite a few seats empty; and a few big groups. The atmosphere was more akin to dining hall: loud chatter, without a good vibe.
7. The Coravin list, ( a plus in the past) was not all the intriguing; sommelier- missing in action too?
All in all: in the past s&s did the ancillaries to “the steak “ very well. With great service, consulting on wines, food and table side cocktail, fun atmosphere. None of that was there. Perhaps an off day... hope it gets back to the earlier days. In the meantime, will try other venues .
Food was fantastic. Our server went above and beyond to make our experience special.
This is probably our favorite Steakhouse in Chicago. Had drinks and an app at the bar before we sat down, which was a great way start to the night. The bartender introduced me to my new favorite Rye. Table was quaint and cozy. We got the cold seafood platter to start, the Caviar w/ potato salad was AMAZING. Steaks and sides were really good. Ice cream and desert cart were the perfect finishing touch. Customer service was incredible all night and to top it off they brought us glasses of champagne for our anniversary.
Dinner was at Swift and Sons was excellent. The chicken was juicy and well prepared.
Amazing service and my steak was perfection. It is great for a special occasion.
Good good good food!
Great night, amazing dinner.
We had a large group that was part social, part business and the restaurant set us up at a great table that let us all engage and enjoy one another's company. The service was great as usual, the food exceptional and the drinks a-flowing. What more could one ask for?
Always an excellent choice for steak and crab legs!!! Excellent service without being stuffy like some high end steak restaurants in Chicago. Decor / style is very cool. We love it and we love that its a few doors away from our office at Menu Collective 👌🏻 Also great to be able to just sit at bar and have a cocktail and excellent burger too!
Great experience! Our server, Adam, was amazing! Food was delicious!
food was great. great selections. excellent service.
