Swift & Sons might have a separate seafood restaurant inside of it, but this steakhouse is the star of the show.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

Usually I would have rated this restaurant higher. Our prior experiences were great. My dad was visiting from out of town. We have been here a few times before and wanted to treat him to a nice dinner, just like we did with my husband’s parents when they were in town. There was an issue with our Open table reservation so we put our name in for a table. She said she would text me when a table was ready and the restaurant wasn’t full. There were ample reservation times open, but I didn’t use the opentable app since she said she would handle it. I told her we would be at the bar, but I had to check in with her twice about our table since we had been waiting over an hour. When time came, we were offered a table that was in a far corner or by the bar (which was open the whole time we were waiting at the bar). Only after my dad complained were we seated. At that point the manager and wait staff took extra effort to make things right and turned the night around. Food and ambiance is usually fantastic but the treatment upfront was still a turn off for a place that prior has been pretty excellent and a favorite for us.

I have been fortunate to have eaten at some of the best steak houses around the world and in Chicago, I had high expectations about Swift and Sons based on reviews. I had the bone in filet, I have never been so disappointed with the quality of the steak. It had a rubber texture like I’ve never experienced anywhere, it was prepared properly temperature wise, but tasted like rubber, extremely disappointed. Salad was great and fresh as were the sides, but the steak ruined the experience.

My experience at Swift and sons was disappointing. I almost never write an unfavorable review, but I was so disappointed for a restaurant whose charges should require better. I will start with a complement that the Beef Wellington was excellent, yet, even though for two, I am not sure the size demanded a $110.00 a la carte price. Move on to the rest of the food which was good, but presented and described (on the menu, by the waitstaff and on the bill) incorrectly, or inappropriately. Start with the wedge with lemon vinaigrette. When specifically asked about any other dressing choices (i.e. blue cheese) I was informed that it was served with a blue cheese dressing on the wedge, then dressed with the lemon vinaigrette. Served, scant blue cheese taste, strong lemon flavor, not what was explained . When asked regarding the 1/2 roasted chicken entree, it was on the menu and described as a 1/2 chicken with a thigh presse. (presse?). What arrived was an airline cut chicken breast, white meat, and a small rectangle of dark meat served as a flat slice, presumably, the rest of their " 1/2 chicken", which was misleading. When asked if the fries were natural cut, I was told they were "regular fries" when they arrived, they were, in fact, natural cut. That is what I preferred, but the staff could not answer a simple food question. Finally, for the drinks. I requested a bloody mary mix as specifically NOT spicy, it was brought VERY spicy. When the drink was returned and questioned, I was told, there is only one premade mix and I was given that, again poor accommodation. The drink charge was left on the bill, until I requested it to be removed. The wine by the glass, I ordered 2 glasses of Susana Balbo Malbec, in writing on the menu $14.00/glass, however on the check it rang up as $15.00/glass. By this time I was diner weary and let it go just to bring the evening to a close, but for an establishment where dinner for 4 was over $400.00, that is rather negligent.

Amazing, loved it and will go back. All the food was great and they even gave us an anniversary dessert for free. Service was outstanding too.

Went for a Birthday celebration the environment was warming the waitress was very attentive and everyone else,will go back because me and Husband also friends really enjoyed ourselves;Food was amazing as well.

I have been to Swift and Sons about twice a year since they opened, and it never fails to disappoint. Although beef is a specialty, the sea food is exceptional, especially the oyster appetizer. The "flight" of three types of Wagyu beef (about 5 ounces each, if memory serves) is a very good value. I don't recall seeing it on the menu, so it might have to be a special request. The service is excellent, and the wait-staff provide candid comments on menu selections and are willing to accomodate requests for individual patrons to modify menu choices. The wine selections are reasonably priced.

The two dishes I had were perfect. The oysters with tartare was an amazing dish and I could return just for that but the deconstructed lamb was also amazing. Congratulations to the chef. This is not just an ordinary steakhouse. Bravo and well done.

Went there with my wife during a citytrip. Our Dry-aged Ripeye and Bone-in Filet Mignon were absolutely fabulous! Never had a piece of meat from the grill done so perfect! It‘s worth every single dollar! The service was outstanding, matched the high standard of this Steakhouse! Go there and enjoy! Thanks to all of the Swift & Sons Team!

Our experience at Swift and Son's was "professional". All of the staff knew their job and did it well but nobody was particularly personable. It was also quite noisy and didn't have the ambience of a high end steakhouse, although it did have the price tag. My crab cake was fresh and tasty and the filet was perfectly cooked. The sides were just a bit too much butter for my taste. The wine was good but more expensive than it needed to be. Overall, the experience didn't match the price.

Anniversary dinner and it was perfect. Everything from walking in and being sat early (per our request), to these small details many places skip over (wiping the table between courses). It was perfect. We're wil take the train again, from Milwaukee, just to eat here.

Food and food service excellent. Bar service was poor, unable to have a cocktail prior to seating even though arrived 30 minutes early. Once seated, ordered a salty dog, no salt on rim of glass; laughable knowing they promote having mixologists on staff.

For the cost, each aspect of operation should be on equal excellence.

Was expecting much more....the service and ambiance were wonderful, but the food was extremely lacking in my opinion. If I were invited out or someone else really wanted to go I would go back but I am not picking it on my own.

This was my second time at Swift & Sons and the food was just mediocre, I ordered the boneless rib-eye and split it with my friend and we both thought it was very salty. The salad was just eh and so were the desserts. I do like the atmosphere and sitting at the bar enjoying a cocktail before dinner, the service was very good. Will I go back....possibly but not for steak.

We were celebrating friend’s’ birthdays and had a wonderful evening with fine wine and decadent food. The Beef Wellington was superb! Our server was knowledgeable and made a personal connection with our table. They brought warm chocolate chip cookie alamode for the birthdays and I couldn’t stop eating it! Ha

This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service. Filet are very good, Burgers are fabulous! Rib eye nothing special. Appetizers we had were delicious, pirogi, salad. All in all its really a great place.

Our waiter was fun but classy. He had a great mix of presenting the fine dining experience and being personable. The food was fantastic and came out just as we asked. Our only complaint was that we had a reservation but still got out into a corner table with almost no lighting. Other than that, it was fabulous.

Our second time at Swift and Sons. Dinner for most of our party was exceptional, but one of our party got a med well versus medium ribeye. It was still very good, but kept rating to 4 versus 5. Service was a bit slower than we remembered, but it was Big10 weekend. We will be back!

The bone-in filet was done perfectly and melt in your mouth tender and delicious. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Every detail is top notch. Pricey but worth it. Gets noisy but still able to carry a conversation.

The best food - such a great spot for happy hour. Our server got a little impatient with us by the end and it was clear he wanted us to leave the table, although there were plenty other open ones around and no one waiting on a Wednesday evening.

We were very disappointed in the quality of the steaks. They were over cooked (they did not charge us for one) and the taste was underwhelming.
