High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Never disappoints! One of the very best restaurants in Chicago!!
Awesome. The food was perfect.
It was recommended as “amazing” but we were underwhelmed. Not awful but not “amazing” either. Overhyped.
Fabulous food! Innovative menu and tasted even better than we anticipated! Everything was prepared to perfection. We loved our waiter--he was really friendly and made great suggestions. Overall, a fun night. We can't wait to go back.
The food at tanta is incredible. Every bite was like traveling to Peru and have the most exquisite food. All the plates were delicious, there was NOTHING disappointing. The service was great!!
We went to Tanta in Peru and the Chicago location was just as good. We enjoyed our time, especially on the rooftop!
We very much enjoyed our return to Tanta. It was the first time to Tanta for the couple who accompanied us. They loved it, and we will be back in a few weeks to celebrate our son’s 33rd birthday. The food and service were superb. Our only disappointments were that upstairs seating was booked out by a private party, and the room downstairs is very noisy/conversation challenged.
Great service and ambiance. Food was delicious, though some dishes were too salty for me. Definitely want to go back and try other dishes.
Staff was welcoming and eager to explain different items on the menu
It was wonderful!! Loved everything and every minute!!
We were surprised that Tanta was so highly rated, because we found nothing special about it. We had not tried Peruvian cooking before so it was an experience. The food was good but not outstanding, the service was attentive , the price was high for what we got. I would not go back, but am glad that I tried it.
Farewell to our son
Food seemed very authentic and explained well. Encouraged to share and courses brought out in progression, so did not feel rushed. Will be back
One of my fave places in the city. We made reservation, were seated immediately and the cocktails, ceviche and lomo saltado were good quality, perfect size to split and our service was excellent too.
The food is of high quality, and the bar is fantastic — good upscale Peruvian restaurant. Service is not excellent, longer waiting times and the servers are friendly, but they need to improve the way they take care of customers.
High energy restaurant - popular. Wait staff did an amazing job; very busy time and meeting our needs. Enjoyed. Would recommend. Would return.
Perfection in every dish as always.
We are Peruvian living in The US, and Tanya is our favorite Peruvian restaurant.
The service this time was outstanding. One of my cousins is vegan and they accommodated meals for her.
Thank you Tanta!
Service was slow to start, but very smooth once food orders placed. Food was excellent- empanadas, tomito, broccoli, cebiche. Too noisy for most date nights- almost need to scream to be heard.
Love this place! Family style service, very nice to the kids. Another A+ experience at Tanta
Amazing food, great ambiance, A+ service
we loved this place... the food was terrific and very varied.
Another wonderful evening with great service and exceptional food.
Some miscommunication with the staff led to my order being incorrect but the staff at Tanta more than made up for it! The caipirinhas were amazing and so was the food! Can’t wait to go again!
Jo was an excellent waiter. The thing I didn't like was we were hoping for a relaxed evening and not rushed. We mentioned this to Jo and the minute we ordered the meal, it was out really quickly. Is this a bad thing? Not at all and it really shows the kitchen's response to the current culture in dining. As a Latina, I hate it when my meal is rushed. Any ideas your staff has on this conundrum would be ideal. Thank you overall for an amazing meal.
I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want food that is unlike any other in Chicago!
Food was excellent, the drinks were just okay defiantly could be stepped up their cocktail game. It was very easy to make reservations and we were able to enjoy the rooftop.
Live the food, however, the server wasn’t friendly or very good.
Food was amazing. Exceptional drinks! Atmosphere was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and service. Perfect for date night or a business meeting
Excellent food and great summer rooftop. Took a little while for our entrees to come out after we got our appetizers but overall great place.
It was OK. Overpriced. Bone in my fish. Better places in the city, quite frankly.
The service was outstanding and excellent food!
Rooftop is the best! So are the empanadas:)
food was outstanding
Server not as attentive and helpful as we wished. Seemed to be preoccupied.
An upscale Peruvian restaurant with very solid food. The menu confuses a bit and you need to understand what's an appetizer and what's not. The ceviche (national dish of Peru) is terrific (and there are several variations). I enjoyed the causitas but then again I like potatoes. The pobre was recommended but as not that exciting. Empanadas solid but unspectacular.
I do recommend by entree, lomo saltado. It was a beef stir fry superbly done with good meat and the onions and veggies prepared perfectly.
Great food and drinks. The wait staff was very helpful Due to the weather the patio was closed but looks like a great spot
Fabulous place! The food was amazing. Ambiance very nice. Pretty good cocktails... but the food itself is superb.
Except for a small snafu with a new hostess every minute spent and Tanta celebrating my spouse's birthday was perfect. Our server, Oscar, was friendly and professional. He made sure we understood the menu and made some suggestions based on our taste. The entire front of the house staff (new hostess exception), have been well trained. Attentive but not overbearing. We skipped the first course and went straight to the entrees and were glad we did. Both the seafood skillet and the special of the day, Picante de Costilla (beef short rib stew) were hearty and delicious. The kitchen staff pulled off having each type of seafood cooked perfectly and that is not easy to do. The short rib was fall off the bone tender. For cocktails I recommend the Pisco Sour or slightly sweeter La Rusa. The dessert menu is very unusual. We had the Manzanas Borraches. A kind of apple crumble with quinoa in the crumble and served with quinoa ice cream. Jury is still out on the desserts but I can’t speak highly enough about everything we experienced at Tanta.
Amazing Peruvian food
Really enjoyed the ceviche however we were a little disappointed with the other dishes.
Service was ok although would have liked our drinks (cocktails) to have arrived before our starters. Pleased we have been but wouldn’t necessarily return.
