High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Enjoyed it a lot!!!!!
We loved the relax atmosphere at the rooftop! We set at the bar, and really enjoyed the food, drinks and music!
We order ceviche, yuquitas, beef empanada and a beef skewer. We will come back!
We loved Tanta! The rooftop patio is simply gorgeous & the ambiance was great! The cocktails were delicious and the food was very fresh & authentic. We will definitely be back!
Guess I was expecting much more out of this place, but it turned out to be just okay and not that great.
The seafood dishes (Ceviche) were really good, yet aside from that, portions were really small, overpriced, and dishes like the Pork Fried Rice I think I could have easily have made on my own.
While it was worth to try, I don't think I'd return again. Can get a much better value elsewhere in terms of taste and quantity of food for what you'd pay here.
Server was brutal. Food was ok I guess. For a city that has so many places I would never go back or recommend!
Great overall experience.
Food was amazing and ambiance was great. Management was terrible. Some of our food and the food for the table around us never was received. Meals were so "paced" out that we spent 20 minutes waiting for the next course between courses.
Wow! Everything about this place is fantastic. The rooftop area is a great atmosphere and every single thing we ordered was delicious!
Service was horrendous and food was cold. I would never go back.
Food was good and seemed authentic, however service was quite poor. Servers very slow and not really interested. Our wine was served in water glasses as ‘ all the other wine glasses were dirty.’ Quite noisy.
Very slow service.
Food was spectacular. Had the Adobo (braised pork), the Beef tenderloin Stir Fry, and Pork Fried Rice. Flavors were incredible!
This is our favorite restaurant. The menu is dynamic and filled with vibrant flavors.
We sampled a few dishes from each category of small plates on the menu, and each one was excellent. The food came out of the kitchen at a comfortable pace, and we never had to wait for a drink refill. Overall an outstanding experience for about $70/person.
Wonderful food and service. I will definitely go back!
My birthday was awesome thanks to the incredible staff and experience thank you !!!
Great food and ambiance
The environment was cozy and sleek, the staff was very knowledgeable, kind and fun. The menu was very creative and enticing. All the dishes we had for our group and individual entrees were fantastic...and the drinks! So fresh and flavorful. I can't wait to go back and try more!
All the food was really good, but the beef tenderloin was INCREDIBLE! An absolute must. Can't talk highly enough about it. David was our server and he was very friendly, informative and attentive. Came here for our anniversary and had a great experience.
Every part of the experience here was perfect! Our reservation was for 4 but we ended up being 5 and they seated us at a table immediately, even earlier than our reservation was scheduled for! They were so nice! And the food was just sublime, expertly prepared and delicious!
Great food, great ambience
Interesting kiTchen, peruvian mixed with asian influences but very tasty. Restaurant is very noisy, difficult to talk.
Chef @gastonacurio’s @tantachicago lives up to his reputation. While not the same home cooked spirit as Tanta Lima, the food is excellent. #Peru #peruvianfood #causas #tiraditos #pulpo #empanadas #anticuchos #lomosaltado #chicago #latinfood 4.8 of 5 as the #piscosour was just ok
Took business guests there and had a wonderful time. Wonderful food and service. Manager asked us to move so they could accommodate a larger party. We got a very comfortable booth and he comped our drinks - not a bad trade!
The food was amazing! The dining experience was enhanced by great service. The menu was explained well by Alvaro.
Excellent , the server was busy with too many tables. The menu needs explaining it’s in spanish and us gringo are nor familiar with their local dishes and drinks
Very good food, with a ton of flavor. It is loud and hard to hear in there. We did feel as though service was rushed, as the food came twice prior to us having drinks.
My friend and I dined here to celebrate my birthday. We made a reservation on OpenTable and got a great table by the window so this contributed to our lower noise level. The restaurant has high ceilings so the acoustics inside reflect that. We had heard raves about the ceviches and they did not disappoint. We tried four of the five available and they were all delicious and different. The food really captures the Japanese immigrant influence of Peru with subtle flavors. These ceviches are not like Mexican ceviches in which the seafood is marinated over extended periods of time. These have substantially sized fish chunks and are marinated to order so you get the flavors from the sauces and accompaniments but you also get to taste the freshness of the fish. Then, we tried the clásico, which is whipped potato with king crab and quail. It was delicious and reminiscent of Peruvian street food. The beef empanada was delicious; it was slightly spicy and had extremely tender beef which the chef later explained was sous vide for 5+ hours. We had the beef heart skewers and the sauce was tangy and bright. This was the same sauce used on the shrimp in the Arroz Tinto dish and it was very delicious in contrast to the squid ink rice. The brightness of the sauce gave good contrast to the briny earthiness of the rice. We each had cocktails and our favorite was the one with the lavender sprig. We capped our meal off with espresso and my sneaky friend had the kitchen bring out a little bit of a cookie and ice cream with a little candle. I absolutely loved my visit and I will return with other friends visiting from out of town or perhaps to check out the rooftop.
It was ok. Staff very nice. Excellent service but the paella was awful. $50 and tastes bad, looks bad, smells bad and a small portion. We did not eat it. Should be removed from the menu. The Pisco Sours were good as well as the Cerviche. Plantain chips and dipping sauce was good. Nice outdoor second floor patio. Many millennials. Fun atmosphere.
The drinks and food are excellent! It has become one of my favorite places in Chicago!
The food was interesting and delicious and our service was outstanding. It takes a small plates/tasting approach so it was great fun to try and share new items. It was a little loud up on the roof deck, but it was a beautiful evening outdoors. Highly recommended.
Great food & unique and creative food and drink menu. Will come back.
It’s been our second time not being able to get the ceviche choices on the sampler
We felt that the food was just ok, based on the fact that the restaurant was highly rated.
We did not like the cold potato appetizer with crab salad on top, and the main course, beef tenderloin stir fry, was not as tender as expected, and had minimal sauce. I've had much better at a Hibachi restaurant.
Absolutely terrible service! I was shocked. We made a reservation for 6 people and the hostess wanted to seat us in the sun. We asked them if they could move one of the umbrellas over the table and they said they couldn’t (we saw them move umbrellas for another table not even 10 mins later) so we waited to sit inside instead. Our waitress didn’t bring us water after the first two times we asked. We ordered our food after waiting forever to order it, and proceeded to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. In fact they messed up one of the orders and brought out the wrong item and my friend had to wait another 10-15 mins after us for her food. We were there for like 3 hours. Finally at the end, the manager came out to apologize and to comp entrees and drinks which was nice, but sitting on the rooftop was terrible service. I used to tell everyone how much I loved Tanta. We will never come back and I’ll never recommend this to a friend again.
Went for lunch at the rooftop Service was very slow and it was very noisy. Food was ok but I have been in better Peruvian places.
Nice for the kids.
I was celebrating my wife’s bday and asked for dessert to sing the HB and when the dessert finally came it didn’t even have a candle - first time in a restaurant that I ask for dessert to sing happy birthday and I don’t get a candle.
Overall it was an Ok experience.
Food was good in general, bartenders were ok, pretty expensive for the experience but ok. There are better places in that range of price.
Like always it was great. 2 complaints tho... one has nothing to do with them tho.. well sorta.. First, one of the main reasons we had gone was to order “Leche de Tigre” I even told my wife “instead of ordering one at the time since I know we are going to order another lets just order 2 right from the start, a whole one for you a whole one for me!” When the waiter gets to our table and we order “2 Leche de Tigres please” he tells us “I’m sorry we don’t have Leche de Tigre today.... “ Nooooo 😢. The other complain is that the food was so good, that we overate and had a hard time sleeping at night. See I told you it was not their fault but sort of. None the less the experience was great except for the main main reason we had gone for, “Leche de Tigre” and we didn’t get to eat it.
Our waiter was si joyful and fun. His enthusiasm for the food really added to our night!!
