Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.
The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Fabulous place! The food was amazing. Ambiance very nice. Pretty good cocktails... but the food itself is superb.
Except for a small snafu with a new hostess every minute spent and Tanta celebrating my spouse's birthday was perfect. Our server, Oscar, was friendly and professional. He made sure we understood the menu and made some suggestions based on our taste. The entire front of the house staff (new hostess exception), have been well trained. Attentive but not overbearing. We skipped the first course and went straight to the entrees and were glad we did. Both the seafood skillet and the special of the day, Picante de Costilla (beef short rib stew) were hearty and delicious. The kitchen staff pulled off having each type of seafood cooked perfectly and that is not easy to do. The short rib was fall off the bone tender. For cocktails I recommend the Pisco Sour or slightly sweeter La Rusa. The dessert menu is very unusual. We had the Manzanas Borraches. A kind of apple crumble with quinoa in the crumble and served with quinoa ice cream. Jury is still out on the desserts but I can’t speak highly enough about everything we experienced at Tanta.
Really enjoyed the ceviche however we were a little disappointed with the other dishes.
Service was ok although would have liked our drinks (cocktails) to have arrived before our starters. Pleased we have been but wouldn’t necessarily return.
Best Peruvian restaurant in Chicago! Start with the octopus anticucho and some ceviche. Dining here makes me want to visit Lima!
Went on Fathers Day. Food was great, server was attentive. Drinks were pretty solid. Overall it was a good experience. Will definitely be back

And the craft cocktails are just the best! Pisco sour, of course, fantastic and so well made by the talented bartenders! Also, their Caipirinha was great....enjoyed just watching all the drinks being created!

We dined on the roof top one one of the very few warm nights we have had. It was delightful and the service was good. Great cocktails. The unusual menu was a bit daunting. We tried to be open to the experience but found some of it too strange for our taste. Cold whipped potatoes with toppings didn't didn't cut it Since we aren't big on fish the menu was limited. We would go back and try the Asian dishes.

Authentic Peruvian food and it was outstanding. Our waiter explained the menu and even shared some of the history and culture of Peru, which was very interesting. We shared our plates and enjoyed everything we ordered.
Accommodating staff. When busy, it was hard to find our server to get a drink. Table wasn't clean or have place settings before we were seated. Nice casual vibe in place to be in jeans or dressed up. Pisco sour was delicious but other drinks were weak.
Really delicious. The ceviche sampler was amazing and fresh. Drinks were very good. Setting is hip works for casual date or smaller groups. Good variety in menu. Only issue is that it tasted a bit salty but nothing a beverage couldn't overcome.
The pisco sour was perfect. The ceviche sampler was also very good, though basic and not special. The other things, campesina, solterito caprese, salmon tanta just didn't pop with flavor as I'd hoped. Nothing was terrible, but with Gaston's name on the marquee, and having eaten a lot of Peruvian food, I expected better.
I have been to Tanta a few years ago and loved the food, going this time around was a bit disappointing. The quality of the dishes have gone downwards. I had a crab Causa. It looked and tasted totally different than before. It didnt look like real Causa and didn't taste that great. The portion seem to be a lot smaller than before as well. The tiradito de pulpo is no longer on the menu either. The only octopus dish I was able to find was the grilled kebab (anticucho).
While the rest of the dishes were tasty, the portions are very small and the prices too high for what you get. We paid about $20-$25 for only 2 kebabs (anticuchos). Each kebab only had 2 pieces. The prices for all the small appetizer plates were about the same. This is definitely not a place to come in if you are hungry and in a budget. During my visit, we were only 2 light eaters... yet it took about 5 dishes to not feel hungry.
There are better places in Chicago at a more reasonable price were you can get the same type of dishes and good quality.
Now, not all was negative. If you would like to try this place there were 2 things that stood out: the drinks and the grilled octopus kebabs. Just don't be sticker shocked!

Came for our anniversary and had a reservation but opted to sit at the bar. Was very cozy and bar tender was great. Food was outstanding with the wagging beef and scallops nigiri, wagyu beef and quail egg nigiri and two empanadas (braised beef check and hockey stew). Everything was fantastic.

Food was fresh and very tasty. My wife had the quinoa salad which was excellent. I had the three ceviche sampler and loved it. The sauce was delicious.

Friends from different parts of the world being in Chicago at the same tome was the reason for our reservation ... and my love of Peru and Peruvian food. The staff were fantastic as our group few. We were not disappointed with the food. We will all return. Oh and the Pisco sours were great
I am really upset about my visit to Tanta. First of all as a Peruvian I thought I will have the best Pisco Sour every and what was my surprise it really didn’t taste good. Then my son ordered Tallarín saltado with chicken and they brought a seafood tallarin. They changed it. My husband ordered a Lomo Saltado medium and he got a burned meat. Mine was good I ordered A lo pobre. Very well done and it was really good.
I hope as a great Peruvian restaurant you have to make a very good Pisco Sour
Really loved Tanta. Everything was unique and very fresh. A great variety to choose from. Excellent service, cocktails, and wine selections as well.
Tanta is the perfect location if you want to explore Peruvian food. The dishes are fantastic, lots of great seafood and wonderful balance of spices and flavors. The cocktails are unique and I loved the overall experience.

This place is okay. The food is good but not exceptional. We kept looking for our server, so I can't give the service a high rating. He was nice when he finally showed up. Overall, there are better options out there.

We hadn't been to Tanta for several years and were delighted to discover that it was as good as ever. The food is excellent and the menu is nicely organized to allow sampling of a number of different dishes. When busy the restaurant is extremely noisy, making conversation difficult, but as the crowd dissipates the noise level drops to more reasonable levels. Probably because the restaurant was so busy, our service was quite slow.
