Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.
The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. The food was awesome. The dessert was spectacular 😋
Food was excellent. Great flavors and presentation. Will definitely go back.
Food was awesome and cocktails were great too. Server was great in the beginning, but unfortunately became rude towards the end of dinner. We got the impression that she just wanted to go home- we were her last table. Would return hoping for a better service experience.
Pizza was amazing! I recommend the breadsticks
Now my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. Fantastic food and service.
Great service and food. Drinks are on the pricey side but well worth it.
This was my first visit to Tanta. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the food. The portions were large enough to share and everything we ate tasted great. Don't go there if you want a salad, they don't serve one. Also, the amount of wine they serve is kind of skimpy.
Disappointed with service. Had to find waiter myself for everything.
First time at Tanta, and we would not rush back. Food was flavorful, not much on presentation. Service was slow and seemed disorganized. Waiter was nice, but the serving process there just did not seem to have its act together. Too many other good places to go to keep this on the list for revisiting.
This was my first time going after years of wanting to try it. It did NOT disappoint! The entire meal was amazing - my favorite bite was for SURE the "Pobre" - it was incredible. We also had the criollo cebiche (amazing) and the toreado (also incredible). Don't skip the empanadas - all three were amazing, my favorite was the chicken which I did not expect to like! The drinks were all super yummy too. Overall - I can't wait to go back, and that doesn't happen often!
Vanessa our server was rude, and doesn’t have customer service skills, when a customer says the drink doesn’t taste as always (specially if the customer (me) has been at Tanta several times, and is Peruvian), don’t argue, just offer a new drink. The food tasted off, and I had a piece of shell that I bite from the arroz con mariscos. I’ll wait a couple of months to see if it gets better, as the other times I was there were truly amazing, food and service.
Service was very good our server was super helpful suggesting different options. Food was delicious!!!
Wonderful experience at Tanta! We started off with delicious Pisco Sours during happy hour at the bar. Next, we moved to our table and selected a variety of dishes from across different sections of their creative Peruvian/Asian menu. We shared everything, so all four of us had an opportunity to sample each delicious preparation. Highly recommended!
Great Peruvian tapas restaurant in River North. Unique drink menu. Nice rooftop terrace for summer outdoor dining. Come with a group so you can try more of the offerings!
A wonderful experience, very unique Peruvian food with a wide range of options. Especially liked seafood/fish/cebiches appetizers. Yuca(?) chips are incredibly good. A very nice selection of cocktails, we didn't order wine but the menu apparently has a wide selection. Beer selection was OK but relatively narrow. The organic quinoa salad with beets, baby arugula and a lot of flavours was a pleasant surprise. The traditional beef tenderloin stir-fry with red onions and rustic potatoes was very good, meat is quite tender and all ingredients played together quite well. Additional rice for this dish was in this setting completely unnatural to my taste, I left it untouched.
A modern design and look, friendly atmosphere and waiting staff (I think many are actually of Peruvian decent which makes it even more authentic) and chef who comes to talk to patrons, explains the concept behind this restaurant makes this place even more attractive to spend time in
We went for restaurant week. The food was ok; a but disappointing for what I know of Peruvian food. Portions were very small ( even for small plates). The ambiance was ok; way too noisy to have meaningful conversation.
Unique flavors and fun atmosphere !
My favourite restaurant!!!!!!!
This was our second visit to Tanta, this time for lunch rather than dinner. Again, we enjoyed excellent food, and good service. My wife chose from the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu, and I chose the tuna ceviche and chicarones. We will be back.
Unable to handle their business. Long wait between courses and to clear plates. Food not well prepared. Got sick that night and believe it was due to undercooked food . Will not go back.
The seafood entry for restaurant week is awesome. Love the seasoning. Will be there again.
Wow, Everything about our experience at Tanta was amazing. We were enthusiastically welcomed, our server was knowledgable about the menu, but also invited the chef to visit our table and go through a few items of the evening, the drinks, Pisco Sour and mezcal cocktails were very flavorful, refreshing and balanced (not sweet) and the food was off the charts great. The dishes were interesting, fresh, and flavors combined well together. We had a few of their traditional dishes and tried some of their most popular dishes as well. And don't pass on dessert. We really enjoyed a desert with toasted quinoa as well as one with a raspberry sorbet. We'll be back.
The food and atmosphere were great but service took too long.
Met friends for brunch, service helpful and attentive but allowed us to visit without rushing us. Seafood dishes were excellent, cocktails creative and desserts yummy, and good variety. We will go again
Ceviche was very good, and the seafood chaufa was excellent as well. The waitress recommended some good cocktails for us, and food came out at appropriate intervals. The empanada was not anything special, but inexpensive.
It was good
Perks: really unique, delicious flavors, LARGE portions, great service, and a fairly extensive cocktail list.
Cons: some overpowering garnishes, like the mussel dish tasted mostly of pico de gallo, and server assistants over eager to refill water and whisk away plates due to the restaurant's slow start.
Overall, really great experience! I highly recommend giving Peruvian cuisine a shot.
This was my third visit to Tanta. This time we went for Restaurant Wee. The food never disappoints, but I thought it was slightly less flavorful this time than last time. The meat dish was wonderfully tender, but the flavor was mostly just salty.
Really good food and nice staff there! The cilantro rice with seafood in restaurant week menu was soooo good.
Came for restaurant week and all the food we had was fantastic, as were the cocktails. Will definitely be returning.
I 10/10 recommend Tanta for dinner! Their food is authentic Peruvian and is incredible. Great service and ambiance.
It was wonderful. The food is delicious, the experience is awesome. Has to be one of my top spots in Chicago! Will be back for more!
Great food and good service. Menu is creative and diverse but the offerings are relatively pricey.
Excellent food and creative vibe! Dined with friends and had a lovely time. Thanks for well done culinary effort and service!
I would recommend ordering off of the regular menu as the restaurant week menu for dinner was rather uninspiring and not a very good value for what was received. The mussels were terrible. The drinks are very good!
Great food and drink.
The entrees were too over priced. The seafood with rice was way too salty. The ambiance and drinks were good. The empanadas were also very good, but the food was not worth the price.
