Tapas Barcelona has a full bar that offers guests various drinks, including Spanish selections of wine. Its atmosphere is ideal for meeting up with an old friend for lunch or having dinner with the family. This restaurant welcomes reservations and provides take-out services.
Brought my 30 something niece for Easter dinner. She’s fairly picky about what she likes, and she lived all that we got. especially dessert :)
The food was awful. The orange/red sauce tasted like it was from a can. It also seemed like they used the same sauce on different dishes but tried to change it up by using spices. The meatball sauce was so salty and we found a hair in the meatball. Never going back.
Great pre-movie dinner. Many gluten free choices.
Amazing food as always and very accommodating to meet expectations. Staff is wonderful and food is very scrumptious.
Does not taste anything like Spanish food
We went on a Saturday evening, so Tapas Barcelona was very busy. It took awhile for the waiter to make it to our table. Along with the noise level (loud!), that's the only downside to our visit. We selected five tapas, each of them were delicious! We ordered two tapas at a time and ordered the remaining dishes during the rest of our visit. The table next to us ordered 4 or 5 tapas and they (and their small tabletop) looked overwhelmed.
The food is delicious and plentiful with a wide variety of options. Service is well paced but not intrusive. Prices food and drink are very affordable. As there aren’t any sound absorbing surfaces, the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation at our table. I will return during the summer when outside seating is available and conversation is possible.
Food was excellent, as was the service.
It was a little noisier than I like, but not terrible.
Table for 2 is way too small & it is hard to order tapas & drinks and have enough room. We ordered 3 tapas each to start but the staff had to bring one at a time because the table was too small. There was barely enough room to fit food and drink on the table. At one point the pepper shaker was knocked off the table. Service was attentive
Get location for authentic tapas experience. Waitstaff is warm and friendly. Service pace is fast but not rushed. Value is exceptional!
I love the waiters, the menu, and the music! And, your bartender makes the best Cosmopolitan cocktail in town.
Pluses: Great food. Interesting variety of selections. Excellent presentation. Attentive but unintrusive service.
Minuses: Crowded at 6:30pm on a Sunday. Very noisy. Muggy and close inside the restaurant. Several ceiling fans in place, but none were in operation.
Verdict: Forget the ambiance. The food is the star here, and it always shines.
Loved this restaurant!! Juan was an amazing waiter!!
Wonderful choice of items. All were very tasty. Service was rather slow to begin with; once ordered things came at a very reasonable rate. Everybody was very warm we could easily talk & hear one another.
The menu isn't the most authentic but satisfied our craving for tapas. For instance, the patatas bravas were good but drowned in sauce. The pan con tomate was more of a bruschetta (they served freezing cold chunky tomato spread on the toast opposed to the nice light rub of tomato on the bread). The dates were good. The artichoke special was not (they didnt use fresh artichokes, these seemed to be jarred ones) with a spoonful of crab salad on top. All over Barcelona fresh artichokes are shaved super thin and fried as a tapa with a bit of salt- they should try something authentic like that. The most egregious part was when we ordered the Crema Catalana and when it was served they put it on the table and said "here is your crem bruelee" These are not the same thing and Catalonians would be very offended by that. For being called Tapas Barcelona they only had a few Catalonian dishes and really strayed to all other parts of the country. This isn't a bad thing, the name is just a bit misleading. Cod is one of the most popular fish in Barcelona but was not on the menu. Overall we'd maybe go back just because there aren't a lot of tapas in the area but I'd challenge the restaurant to step up their game to live up their name.
Awesome. I would have given it 10 stars if I compared to other places that I loved and gave 5 stars. Delicious, quick food at a good price. Others we talked to confirmed that it is a great place to go for delicious food. 5 Tapas were more than enough to satisfy my wife and I. But if you don't have much time to wait for your meal, avoid the paella as we were told that it takes 30 minutes.
Assembly line food service. Our server never came back after he gave us our appetizer round of food. We were never able to order entrees, and ultimately left.
Tapas Barcelona has stepped out up the last couple years and is the best tapas restaurant accessible via Red / Purple line. We always order the goat cheese, and usually the bacon dates. Daily specials are usually quite nice, with yesterday's Pollo con Jamon in white wine sauce an excellent choice.
Food sucked.. and the service was terrible.. not exaggerating at all.
This is our favorite place to go for date night. No need to get dressed up but the food and friendly service make it feel like a fun night out every time. Can't recommend it enough.
The location in Evanston was ideal, with some of our party coming from Milwaukee and others from downtown. Service was terrific, attentive without being overbearing. We ordered at our leisure and each item came out at a good pace. The food was good and we enjoyed the selection. Each course had rich flavors and we finished our meal with creme brûlée and profiteroles, both yummy. We will certainly return.
We sat at the bar for dinner. Not only was the food delicious, the bar tender was a delight to talk to. Very informative about the menu.
I can always count on Tapas Barcelona to have a good time. Every dish tastes wonderful and all the different flavors and textures make a great dinner experience. My friend and I keep going back because it's such a great time.
My waiter was fantastic and the food was great as always
Good food, nice people
Overall, one of our favorite little restaurants. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly, and the food is a great value... plus delish! It gets pretty crowded on a Friday/Saturday night so reservations are key, but well worth the wait if you must.
This dinner exceeded my expectations. Food was extremely tasteful, service was excellent and prices were very reasonable! Would definitely recommend to others.
Had the best cocktail I’ve ever had there called a Trip to Spain.
Most of the Tapa items were very good. Would come here again and recommend to friends.
We loved the service and the overall time it took for our food to come to the table. Definitely a place to recommend and come back!
Good food. Nice that they label gluten free. Food all came out around the same time - would have been nice if this was spaced out more.
Even considering the very good reviews, TB is an underrated find. On our recent visit, the 4 of us had 9 or 10 small plates which on the whole were very good and flavorful, presented well and very reasonably priced. The same can be said of our pitcher of sangria which was only $19. The service was attentive and the ambiance is nice as well.
We live in the Twin Cities and whenever we visit the Chicagoland area we make a point to eat here. The service is amazing, the food delicious. We've never had a thing we didn't love.
This has been a family favorite for well over 10 years. We look forward to our Datiles a la Sevillana each time we come. I love that they have weekly specials with varied menu, so each time you can still have something you've never had before. My kids are now 13 and 16, when they were toddlers they would only choose the pizza options, now they are so adventurous when they order here. Since it's all small plates and we share, they're know they can at least sample it once to see if they like it. Great place!! My daughter and have Celiac Disease so know they have plenty of GF options!
Great food and wonderful server. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. My wife and I travel to Spain frequently and we are blue because we are not sitting on las ramblas, a visit to Barcelona Tapas is a quick fix.
Great as usual!
Tapas Barcelona is warm, inviting, comfortable and pleasant place to hang out with friends over some nice bites and beverages. The staff was friendly and attentive and our food selections were flavorful. And, all at a reasonable price.
Fabulous prices, sangria, and atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic night, quick dinner with the girls, or to celebrate something special!
My wife and I picked up our daughter and her friend from Loyola to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. As she spent a semester in Madrid, we thought she would enjoy some of the food she enjoyed while there. The hostess was very accommodating re-seating us to a better table when we requested and our server (I regret I do not recall his name) was very knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered four small plates and paella and everything was delicious. The meal and a nice bottle of wine was less than $100. Overall, the experience was excellent. We will absolutely return.
I celebrated my birthday there. The personal was very nice, even if the restaurant was very busy, the food came out fast. We had some tapas ( rib eye was absolutely delicious) and we also had Paella Valenciana. On the first paella the rice was a little too al dente but we ordered another paella and we asked for a well done one and it was just perfect.
Definitely we will go back and I also recommend the restaurant!
