It was our first time there and it was an overall great experience! Due to it being our first time there we didn't know what we were booking when we selected the table type. We were seated in a very small section facing a wall. Next time we will book the bar! The drinks were amazing!

Our first visit. Hospitality & service were wonderful. Music provided by EQNX Jazztet was fabulous. Space is small, so it might get loud when full. Reservations are encouraged.

Teddy Roe's has been for some time, one of my most favorite speakeasy spots in Albuquerque. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is commendable and the music playlist is spot on. However, on a recent visit I couldn't help but notice that the quality of the cocktails and food aren't quite what they used to be. Our party of four found the cocktails to be rather mediocre. The special food item on the menu was poke. I wish I could recommend it, but it was more akin to ceviche that was overwhelmingly acidic and lacked any kind of balance. Vinegar with onions and some unidentifiable chopped food product is the best way I can describe it. New bartenders and chef, perhaps? I don't know. I just hope they'll work to restore the quality and attention to detail in their food and beverage program that they had when they first opened.

FAQs

Portions tend to be small-to-moderate but satisfying, the menu is limited and thoughtfully composed. Several guests said plates were flavorful and, in some cases, “more than we could finish, ” while others describe the menu as small with shareable appetizers and hearty specials. Plan to order a couple of snacks or an entrée to share alongside cocktails if you want a fuller meal.

It depends on your goal: go on a weeknight (e.g., Tuesday) for a quieter, more conversational evening; come on Friday/Saturday or live-music nights for a lively speakeasy experience with jazz. Guests say early weeknights are calmer, while weekends and special events draw crowds. Reservations are recommended for preferred seating or private rooms.

The ambience is classic speakeasy, dimly lit, cozy, and music-forward. Guests frequently praise the sultry, nostalgic decor, live jazz or piano, theatrical cocktails, and polished service that transport you to another era. It’s intimate and warm, perfect for conversation, but can get lively and a bit loud on music nights or when the room fills up.

Yes, guests describe private-room options. The Champagne Room and other small private spaces have been used for birthdays and anniversaries (groups of around six), often with a dedicated bartender and a Bluetooth speaker for music. These rooms offer a more intimate, celebratory experience, call to reserve and confirm amenities.

Yes, Teddy Roe’s is a popular date-night spot. Guests repeatedly praise the intimate, dimly lit speakeasy vibe, live jazz, and expertly crafted cocktails that make it feel special. Expect cozy seating, attentive service, and theatrical presentation of drinks. It’s ideal for a romantic evening or a low-key anniversary celebration; consider reserving a table or the Champagne Room for a more private experience.

Busiest: weekend evenings and live-music nights, expect a lively crowd and fuller dining room. Quietest: weekday nights, especially early in the week (guests note Tuesday tends to be slower). For a calm, conversation-friendly visit, choose a weeknight; for an energetic music-focused evening, aim for weekend jazz nights or advertised special events.

It depends on what you want: choose a weekday (especially early in the week) for a quieter, intimate experience; choose Friday or Saturday, or nights with live jazz, for the most energetic atmosphere. If you want a private celebration, reserve the Champagne Room on a less-busy night for a more controlled experience.

Business casual is the stated dress code. Guests often dress up for date nights and special occasions, and the speakeasy vibe leans toward smart, polished attire, think neat, evening-ready clothing rather than casual daytime wear.

Partly, the space is intimate and can feel tight, so accessibility and family comfort vary. Guests report cozy booths, bar seats, and private rooms, but also mention narrow walkways, a large center post, and cramped spots that can make movement tricky. Families and small groups do celebrate there, but if mobility or stroller access is a concern, call ahead to discuss seating and request a more accessible table.

Yes, staff are accommodating when possible. Guests report that Teddy Roe’s has handled special requests like private-room setups, Bluetooth music streaming, custom cocktail guidance, and even off-menu coffee. If you have dietary needs, a seating preference, or a celebration request, call ahead to confirm details (and note some guests experienced difficulty reaching staff by phone, so allow extra time).
