Service was a little slow, especially at the bar, but overall we enjoyed our brunch.
the look is beautiful but the service and food were only OK. We had a large beautiful table. It took a long time to get the order and the food showed up before we had spoons, silverware for some, etc. then it took some time to get it. The pacing was also off with entrees delivered when we didn't have room. They were nice enough but didn't feel well taken care of as a diner.
The Allis is easily my go-to favorite spot to do nearly everything — eat, sip a matcha latte or a cocktail, read, work, write and catch up — in in Chicago.
Went for the afternoon tea. Was wonderful. Loved the environment.
The Allis is the MOST beautiful place I have ever dined. I was smitten and can’t wait to go back!
Nevin is the awesomest! Love the cozy setting and relaxing lighting.
Our service was terrible. Food was great. Drinks were great.
I love the Allis, but this was my first time going early in the morning (7:30am). My experience was strange. I had a reservation but there was no host/hostess. I wandered over to the desk where I informed the desk attendant that I had a reservation. She looked confused then told me to sit anywhere. My waiter was competent but not super friendly or attentive. Soon the dining area filled with businessmen with suitcases. Not a great vibe. I realize that it is a club and hotel, so they were likely checking out. But they lingered around for most of my breakfast really killing the vibe. I still really like The Allis, but I wouldn’t recommend going there for an early morning breakfast and coffee on a weekday. You’re better off running to a Starbucks where at least you expect a less-than-luxury experience.
I have eaten lunch and dinner here now and the food is fine but I feel like people go for the ambiance and because it's Soho House. But overall, I'm not in a hurry to go back.
Loved the interior. Service was great and food was excellent. Perfect evening! Can't wait to go back again.
Our server/ service was wonderful! We also loved the decor.
Gorgeous inside. A great mix of Industrial and Luxe. Cozy but dressed up feel. Delish food - I literally did not have a morcel on my plate left! Great cocktails! Also, did not feel stuck up at all (given the hype about this place). Would definitely come back!
I reserved a table for a group of 10. Although when I arrived a few minutes early with only 2 other colleagues, they sat us on the 2nd floor and did not concern themselves that the entire party had not yet arrived. We were all the way at the back table and some of our drinks took a while to arrive. Wasn't sure if it was the fault of the waitress or the bar. We did not share everything we ordered but I enjoyed the OLIVES & ALMONDS, TUNA CRUDO, Midwest Meat & Cheese Selection, and fries. I stuck with the Montepulciano the entire night and felt it was tasty, dry, smooth, and not too expensive enough to order 3 glasses.
Creative menu, good service, convenient valet parking, youthfully modern ambiance
Beautiful afternoon tea set up! Tea was great along with the ambiance, set up, and seating. In my opinion, there are too many desserts on the tower of food they provide you. I’d prefer a couple more salty options. Service was ok in my opinion - everyone was friendly and accommodating, but it was hard to get their attention when you needed them. This is really special for anyone who enjoys an expensive tea party experience - it’s really nice for a birthday or bachelorette party!
When I arrived, I waited at what I thought was the host station. After waiting a min or two, I was referred to another station, just to the right. From there, I was directed to a 3rd station before taken to my table. Confusing! The place is gorgeous, industrial, lofty and very chic. The service was excellent; we had a very attentive server. The food and drinks were just ok and surprisingly expensive for two people. We each got a toast breakfast - one Hollandaise and the other an avocado/egg and each had two drinks. Before tip, we spent over $100. The avocado toast was hard, so hard in fact it required a knife to eat. The Bloody Mary was basic, small and clearly just a mix.
Service was non-existent for not being packed and they had little to no knowledge about the menu. The food was good but the price you pay for the amount of food was a joke. The atmosphere was very cute, casual and comfy like someone's living room. I just wished the service was a little bit better. 2.5 hours and not once did they come by to ask us if we needed a refill for our hot tea, during afternoon tea service! Don’t waste your time here.
Brunch here is amazing and so are the late night cocktails
Soho House is a nice place for a drink (and for a Cowshed pedicure). The Allis used to have wonderful pizza but now it's got a limited menu and a shortage of servers. The roast cauliflower is ridiculous! A whole cauliflower roasted only on the outside with very little flavor. We waited half an hour for a drink. Disappointing - bring back the pizza! And hire some more staff.
What a lovely setting!!! Decor was spectacular and service matched! Want to look into staying here also. Definitely going back! Food was delicious too!
I went to the Allis for Afternoon Tea and I’ve never had anything like this before so I think the experience of it was well worth it. Pricing wise, not worth $80+ for some sweets and tea but like I said the ambiance and the experience of just being there was definitely worth it as a date place
Great food and service and very welcoming to out of town guests. Best chocolate chip cookie ever!
Service was very good. The hotel is lovely.
For the price, the food was meh. I am a baker so I am probably judging harder than most, but I was unimpressed with the food. It was average.
We went for a friend's bachelorette having our first high tea experience, and it was great! This is such a beautiful place and they made everything so nice.
We ordered the breakfast sandwich and avocado during a slower Saturday afternoon. The food here was simple, flavorful and well executed. Our server was the downfall of the experience. We were first sat out of a few tables around us. All other tables were greeted and water was delivered yet, we still weren’t greeted. When we were finally greeted we were greeted with “are you ready?” This does not strike a great first impression.
I would try it again not basing my complete judgement on one server alone since the food was worth the several extra minutes of waiting.
YOUR HOST NEEDS TO BE MORE ATTENTIVE ~ TO GUESTS ~ AND THEIR NEEDS ~
YOUR TABLES AND CHAIRS NEED CLEANING ~
THE FOOD WASN'T HOT ~
THE CORTADO WAS THE BEST YOU SERVED ~
I WILL NOT BE BACK ~
Saturday “brunch” with my daughter. She lives in Chicago and the Allis is a favorite of hers. My first time and I LOVED my entire experience. Beautiful mimosa. Brioche French toast was best ever! Also had broiled tomatoes which I loved. Service very good. I will be sure to dine at The Allis next trip to Chicago!!!
One of the best bloody marys in the city. Great lox and baked goods too. Great tea service and cocktails. Cool ambiance
Had one of the best cocktails I have ever had. Disappointed when we got there the menu was completely different then what is posted on the app. Finished drinks and went to pizza place next door. Would definitely go back for drinks again
Overall experience was great, but our waiter was quite unattentive and very slow to respond.
The most disappointing part is the service. Our waitress was just horrible and not attentive at all. We as a party of three stayed there for 1.5 hours. No one checked on us for the first 10 minutes, and that’s the only time she checked on us. No one came to explain the menu or what we should be mindful of. At the end, she just disappeared even if we just needed the check to get the hell out of there.
We won’t go there anymore. We went there at 2:30pm on September 3 if more details were helpful.
Came here on a Saturday night with 3 friends and we had a wonderful time!
The food was good but the best part about the experience really is the ambience and not the food.
It was great, been going here a while and it was nice to reconnect with the classic candelit aura of the place. I appreciate how not-too-quiet but softly vibrant the place is. Will definitely return
Food was good. Slow service. Burger is excellent. Chicken sub par. Great drinks. Great atmosphere.
Fun ambiance and decor. Have been here for tea and lunch. Would recommend both, especially their tea. Had a delicious watermelon gazpacho, that I could have consumed a quart of were that possible!
We’ve been there many times. This time we got sat and no one came to to great us. We went inside to ask for our server got moved inside for a new server and than got a new server 4 times. We just stayed for a drink and left.
I was very disappointed with this place. I came here for afternoon tea, the pastry is delicious but the service is terrible. I made a reservation for my birthday. Although we were seated right away, we waited for 15 minutes until we finally got attention from our waiter. We ordered afternoon tea, which requires no cooking or very little preparation, we still waited 45 minutes from when we were seated until we actually got our food. Our server was not friendly. He poured water all over our table and was not attentive. This is a very beautiful place with delicious food, but the bad service ruined it for me. Not recommended.
The Allis was a wonderful spot for afternoon tea- all of the desserts were delicious, the tea was lovely, and the servers were kind.
A bit too loud for a meeting, but great food, service and decor.
