Music way too loud to have a conversation. Bad choice of music.
Disappointed they wouldn’t allow me to order off the lunch menu as I was wanting a specific item I love.
Adorable spot, great vibe, would suggest more decor on the regular tables since the rest of the restaurant is so lovely
Reserve a table and enjoy. The only note is not to be in a rush. The aren't the fastest, and that's not the point. Have a nice conversation and enjoy the people. Take it all in. Your drinks and food will eventually show up. It's not a race!
Rude host. Slow service.
You’re definitely paying for the experience and aesthetic of the space! Which is beautiful. The food is pretty good, but could find better!
We had a large party of 10. First reservation of the day. The food was excellent but service was not very attentive. They got little things wrong on our order (even though they wrote it down) and didn't seem to care at all. But to even tell someone they mixed up the order we had to wave down the hostess (who was staring into space, and wasn't in a rush to find a server when we told her we needed someone) since no servers were around and hadn't come by for a long time. Additionally, 3 people ordered bloody Mary's...and all three came out different....so not very consistent. Overall the food was very good, the decor and location excellent so I'd go back. But don't expect excellent staff
This is one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. It took 20 minutes to get a bottle of beer and a single, standard cocktail off of the menu. Not to mention this was a weeknight when we were one of the only two tables occupied at the restaurant.
Some places shouldn't even be allowed to get reviewed. Everything here is always perfect. Ambiance, service, food all perfect.
Exceptional service, beautiful server personalities, both kind and warm. The was legendary. A lovely experience.
Service: Made a reservation for 10:30. The upstairs was not opened yet when we arrived 15 min early. So they sat us in the hotel lobby wares. Shortly after we were sat, others were being led upstairs.
Food: Asked for soft boiled eggs, and they were hard.
Was really looking forward to a nice brunch experience. Left a little disappointed.
Love the ambiance & food, but I think our server was too busy & forgot
Esta de muy buen gusto el restaurant y la comida excelente. Felicidades.
A really fantastic space with a variety of seating options and groupings; somewhere you can go for a meal or just cocktails /small bites. It is moderately priced vs overpriced trendy, and something on the menu for everyone meats to vegetarian, elegant to hearty and casual. The only issue was the service was off; they were not prepared for us as a large party, even though it was confirmed online and day of. Not enough place settings, no salt/pepper on the table; and the service to accommodate us as a party of 12 was very slow in the beginning, took a long time to get rounds of drinks and appetizers; it did, improve once our entrees came and the service staff was friendly and accommodating in trying to make everything comfortable since it was a special occasion.
Decent food, but this tea needs more savory items and at least one tea that is not a blend. Currently, there are only 3 tiny finger sandwiches and the rest is dessert. Service is inattentive as we had to wait (standing) for our reserved table and then we sat for over 30 mins. and I finally had to get up and go find a waiter to just get water and submit our order. Similarly, I had to ask someone to get our bill since our waitress had disappeared for an hour. Go for dessert not for the savory items. Nicely appointed dining room with a hip young clientele which is not your typical Michigan Ave. hotel tea scene. However, we will not be back due to the poor service and almost no savory items.
Host was a bit stuck up. Service was slow. Slightly dirty. Food was great.
We had great drinks and appetizers before our fabulous main courses. We did not save room for dessert, hopefully next time.
This is a former factory that has been refurbished into a really cozy place that was lit by candlelight. Very laid back and attentive waiters. I highly recommend the afternoon tea!
Mother, Daughter Day
Quiet and quaint late night spot! Love the ambiance and decor, so stunning
Stopped in for afternoon tea. The setting is beautiful and unique. Service was a bit unfriendly. Was a nice afternoon but did not feel very welcome. The food was festive for the holidays and tea service was very nice even if it was a bit pricey. Our bill for 3 people ended up over $200 with only two of us having a glass of champagne. Really happy to have tried it but not sure if I'll go back.
People are great
Service is a touch slow
Hard to get a water glass filled
Got my salad and entree at the same time. Not sure if that’s the kitchen or the wait staff. It was a busy night but hard to get things out of the kitchen as dinner took over 2 hours for a burger and salad.
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance is beautiful.
Love this place. Have been going there on Xmas day for years.
We went for Xmas brunch and it was amazing! Best French toast ever, ambiance was great and they didn’t over Christmas music us!
Breakfast at the Allis was very good and a great place to catch up with friends and family. The only area that needs improvement would be the attitude of the entire staff- no one smiled the entire time. At best I could say service was aloof and not welcoming.
The food was ok, the service was very poor, one waitress was very rude, the service needs to be improved.
Host was detached and couldn’t be bothered... he seemed put out that we were there. I think our waitress must have finished her shift mid-way through our tea service. Another server delivered the check. The food on tea-stacks was meh; the scones were so hard that when I pressed them with my knife, they broke into lots of tiny pieces.
Seated 35 min after our reserved time. The hostess was no where to be seen for 10min, who left for another 10min after checking in the guest in front of us. He also stared at us from the second floor as if we should look for his cue rather than helping us find where to go. The line grew to ~16people waiting. Thankfully the service was decent once seated.
Overall: reservation has no meaning. Terrible hostess service. Food and service is good once you’re finally seated, if they help you.
As always the Allis is amazing and one of my fave spots. Nevin is fantastic as always and so is the rest of the staff.
See you all soon!
Upon checking in with hostess, we were asked to wait and see if our table was ready... the restaurant had 3 other tables taken once we were sitted.
We were able to see in details the menu, by the time the server greeted us, we had memorize it.
Our beverage order was taken (finally) and 7 minutes later, our server came back to take or breakfast order. The beverage arrive a minute before our food (waited around 15 minutes for an oj and an americano).
Table only had on roll up and of course it took me 10 minutes to get a napkin.
Overall, service is super slow and staff lacks of f&b sequence of service. I guess my expectations were pretty high compared to other Soho House I’ve been too. This is by far the worst service I have experienced in Chicago. French toast super soggy and the bread on the egg sandwich super hard. I also mentioned on the reservation that I was having breakfast (Dec 24) with a date, which your staff help me alot by being able to laugh about your services.
Overall I’ll say the guy/manager was nice and I appreciate it
Had an afternoon tea reservation for 11 @ 4pm. We were seated an hour late which given the holidays we understood. However, it then took another hour to get any food. Thus we were at the restaurant for 2 hours without anything to eat. Note this was a set menu for tea so should not have been difficult. Staff was overwhelmed and not attuned to their clientele. Would not recommend this restaurant for larger parties.
Overall good experience. They had a repair guy drilling concrete pillars in the restaurant during lunch hour. It was loud that you had to stop conversation.
Great restaurant at SOHO house. Surprised they would do repair work at lunch hour in a restaurant. Completely bizarre!!!!’
Sorry, they missed the mark for us on a Friday, December 21 co-worker lunch before holiday break. We arrived at 11:30 and didn't get our bill and out to 1:45! Service was extremely slow. Plus they sat us in the lobby where work-men proceeded to drill into the concrete wall while we were dining! They did compensate by offering us each a free dessert which only added to the extremely long dining time. I cannot recommend as a quick lunch destination during work. Food though was very good and loved the combination lunch options provided.
great atmosphere, great food (with gluten free options), and drinks were bomb as well; would definitely recommend.
I loved the atmosphere and menu at this restaurant. Our server was personable and gave honest feedback about the menu. The only thing was that we were there two hours. This was a business lunch and we were told that the ticket never went into the kitchen so we literally waited an hour for entrees. Kind of awkward when you are trying to make conversation that long and people had to get back to work. They comped a round of drinks but it just left a sour taste in my mouth. Food was good, not great but will definitely be back to try again. Love the wine list and atmosphere.
