Great service, Food was good.
Definitely take the early seating it’s quieter and you can see the grounds better and take your time eating. Food was great. Had the beet salad with goat cheese and the short rib.
Food was delicious and flavors were excellent
Beautiful setting and refreshing mix of jazz/American songbook standards create lovely ambiance. The dining room is a charming atrium looking out on the woods and beyond. Fresh baked bread and butter were delicious. We started by sharing the fois gras which was incredible! My husband’s martini was perfect. The menu was varied and enticing. I had the Dover sole and husband had the short ribs. Both were sooo good. The portion of sole was generous but I wish there had been more vegetables, especially at that price. There was a good selection of wines by the glass. We shared the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was good but not remarkable. A memorable dinner that was rather extravagant. Prices are high. A special occasion dinner.
Fantastic experience, the food was amazing
Great selection of fine dining choices. Beautiful building and grounds. Staff exceeded expectations.
A few work colleagues enjoying time away and this was such a perfect meal. The beautiful location, ambiance, food, drinks, and service were impeccable.
Much of the recorded music is truly dreadful !! 😱 Jazz and other discordant noise.
My second visit. Service rather brusque. First visit much better.
my partner does not eat pork for religious reasons. We specifically indicated that to the waiter. After several bites of his entree he discovered a piece of bacon. No apologies. No comps. No nothing. Really expected more. Dishes were under seasoned. I’ve been to some of the best Michelin
restaurants and this place has no reason to be this rude or stuffy. Highly overrated in my opinion
It was my wife a
Great experience. Food was delicious
A most enjoyable experience with excellent food and service.
A great meal to celebrate my husbands birthday. Thank you!
Goldstone is a wonderful place. Great service, as always. Only small issue, both entrees were over cooked so had to recook the steak. Which they did gladly and to perfection.
Beautiful place to visit during the day but, would not eat here again. Our waiter, Stuart, was not very competent as a server. Multiple mistakes made. He was inattentive, forgetful, and uninformed. Didn't pour us water, or refill it. My date asked for a lemon and he forgot it. My date ordered the sole, which was very tasty, but he suggested a side of caviar and didn't say it was a $15 upcharge for 1/2 a teaspoon of it. When he served our food, my date was served last and she had the hottest plate. Big no no. I had leftovers from my meal and he forgot to bring them to me. I had to remind him after I had paid the bill. I usually leave a 20-22% to but felt the 15% I left him was too much.
Very disappointed in the food. The squab and venison dishes were very bland. In fact, most of the food was not seasoned very well, if at all. We had high expectations and, insomuch as the food is concerned, they were not met. As a point of comparison, we dined at the Ashby Inn before Christmas and it was far and away a better experience and the food there was exceptional.
We were seated in their gorgeous atrium dining area. We had two servers that were very attentive and professional. The Dover Sole and Beef Tenderloin were fantastic as was the Creme Brulee.
Had a great dinner experience. Food was excellent, and our server, Heath, was very friendly and attentive.
Outstanding tasting menu, one of the best meals we’ve ever had in Virginia!
Anniversary
Our meals were barely warm and the fish was the special cod. After a long wait we were told that the wine was not in the inventory and it took more time to locate the second choice. The waitress was inattentive and we were the only customers in the restaurant. That stop was on our special list to begin a vacation and we were totally disappointed with the experience in spite of a very costly tab for the meal. Mike & Eileen Giglio
My husband and I were looking forward to dinner at The Goodstone to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted warmly and the person acknowledged our anniversary upon arrival but then nothing was done to recognize our special occasion otherwise. We were freezing the entire meal, even with our coats on and had very long waits for service and about a full hour between our starter and entree. The food was cooked very well and tasted lovely, but did not impress. My almost $50 entree indicated it came with fingerling potatoes and barely had 1/2 of one fingerling potato on the plate. We would have loved to enjoy dessert, but between the time we had already spent waiting for food, the fact we were so cold and the dessert list did not seem enticing, so we just asked for our check. It is a lovely venue with a lot of potential but did not impress us on our first visit.
We went her for a quiet birthday celebration, and we were very impressed. From the service, to the food to the ambiance. Definitely worth the hour plus drive from DC. We can't wait to come back and also stay at the inn.
Celebrated my husband's birthday at The Goodstone Inn. It was our first time dining there and we weren't disappointed. Meal was excellent from the goat cheese salad and short ribs that he enjoyed to my escargot and beef tenderloin - buttery tender. Visually engaging, the ambiance of the setting particularly with autumn color was extremely pleasant. Service professional, friendly and caring. We chose a Viognier from Barboursville - chilled, crisp and delicious. Dessert was divine from his apple torte to my chocolate mousse. The drive via Foxcroft Road out of Middleburg is windy but once you reach the restaurant, it's magical. Highly recommend and during this COVID challenge, there is plenty of distancing and masks worn until you are seated. Lovely outing and husband was thrilled so all good.
Wanted to spend the day in Virginia’s Hunt Country (Middleburg)and looked online at Trip Advisor for an upscale place for dinner. Chose Goodstone and my wife and I loved it. Everything was great but their appetizer special of risotto with white truffles was spectacular! Will be recommending to others and returning ourselves.
Beautiful setting. Service was pretty good with one exception. Food was good - but for the price, not as good I’d expect.
It was a beautiful lunch on a beautiful day!
Loved the atmospheric and the food
Excellent food, wine and service. Very accommodating to our requests.
Delicious food , wonderful service, but very premium price. We paid $150 for a salad, two servings of fish, and a glass of bourbon.
Food and service was excellent. Very accommodating especially with wine selection. Dishes are large and a great value.
Delectable dinner paired nicely with live piano music. Food and drinks were delicious!
This was not what we expected at all. We ate in the bistro and the room has little to no ambiance. The menu is sparse, but we knew that going in. I had a salad to start and it did not have any dressing on it. Literally none. My husband had the snails and they were not cooked well. We both had steak and they did not ask us how we would like it cooked. The steaks were fine, but nothing special. The frites with the steak frites were big, thick pub fries, which is atypical for frites. We had high expectations about Goodstone Bistro and sadly were left disappointed.
We ate at The Bistro at Goodstone tonight, and the food left much to be desired. We ordered the Ny Strip Steak and Fritz ($30/plate). My husband’s steak was ordered “medium”, and mine was ordered “medium well”. Our steaks came out burnt. To a crisp. I was disappointed that the server thought they were ok to serve, and even more disappointed that the kitchen staff would send them out that way. They never should have left the kitchen. After we finished eating, the table right next to ours had the same problem with their steaks. The man at that table actually said, “I can’t eat this” and sent his back.
In addition to the burnt steaks, I asked for mushrooms on mine. While I assume the crispy brown things on my steak were mushrooms, there were only about 5 small pieces and they, too, were burn and unrecognizable.
The French onion soup, however, was yummy.
Our bill included one French onion soup, two steak entrees, and nothing else. The bill was $76 before tip. I could have gone to Outback Steakhouse and had the same steak, cooked correctly, for under $20. Basically the wilted roses that were on the table behind us sum up our experience.
The food was fantastic. Ingredients were locally sourced if not grown at their farm. You could taste the difference. Service was excellent. The only thing I'd ask is for more wine varieties.
Our experience at the Bistro on Sunday afternoon was blessing for my wife and myself. And, we viewed the experience so well that we have called in today in order to obtain (2) $100 gift certificates to pass along to our friends when appropriate. They get what the forget about me I love you experience is all about.
Lovely casual dining. Very intimate. Good wines and good food. A true find.
What a lovely place! Live piano music and beautiful place. The food was delicious and the service outstanding!
The Bistro offers the perfect combination of warm ambiance, great food, and flawless execution in an environment that invites you to just drop in and grab a burger - or the escargot. The wine list will blow your socks off without blowing your casual dining budget. This is a still somewhat undiscovered Middleburg gem because locals don't realize the Goodstone has a neighborhood dining option. So next time you can't squeeze your way into the Oyster Bar, come here instead.
