We ate early at 6pm and had a nice window table. Due to an incident in the kitchen we were told food would be delayed by half an hour, then I was told they had run out of the wine I had asked for. To make up for it some bread and olives were brought out and we were offered 2 free glasses of wine which I thought was a good offering. The wait went by in no time and our starters were brought out. I had a tasty ham hock terrine with half a dozen small biscuits and my wife had a generous portion of smoked mackerel pate, all nicely presented and as said, was very tasty. Next I had the beer battered cod in a nice crisp and light batter and tasty chips in a mini chip basket, a creamy tartare sauce and a small side salad. My wife had a chicken breast with a creamy mushroom sauce and new potatoes. Chicken was tender and tasty, nicely cooked and was complimented by the mushrooms. A side of onion rings we ordered was brought out half way through and these were freshly cooked and in a light batter, all very nice. Service was good, very apologetic and unobtrusive though attentive. Bar staff were friendly and the manager came over to ensure we had a free drink for the inconvenience. Four other couples had turned up by the time we were leaving so that was nice to see. All in all, decent food for the type of restaurant it is, reasonable prices, good service and a good music playlist in the background. A couple of hitches, didn't spoil anything and we would go back. We came away full up and happy with the evening. Thanks!
