The Chef's Table - Kuro Kisume
Put yourself in the hands of our master chef and experience our take on Omakase. A creative and intimate journey built on seasonality, drawing on Australia’s rich natural produce from land to sea.
The Chef’s Table seats up to 12 guests. The multi course Omakase menu is priced at $195 per person, with optional beverage pairings available.
The Chef’s Table is a communal dining experience, for exclusive bookings please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Too much waiting around for very little food. Majority of the dishes were average, a couple outstanding.
Fantastic food and presentation from chef and his team, world class. Only marked service down due to not being able to hear chefs descriptions very well. Ambience was ruined by a couple who turned up late and argued for two hours, the lady was very drunk and spilled water on my wife. staff should have stopped serving her.
Amazing food, excellent service. Art on a plate
I expected a lot based on what I’ve heard about the place. It’s expensive but not value for money unfortunately. The room felt very small and noise from the adjacent dining rooms was quite disturbing. The food was acceptable but as I said, I expected a higher quality offering for the not-insubstantial price. Service felt hurried and my request to have a tasting of tap beers was declined, strangely. I am disappointed with my experience, especially after arriving with high expectations.
The food and service at the chef’s table is of a very very high standard.
It’s really hard to be critical when from start to finish you are made to feel extremely special.
No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
Second time visited the chef’s table. Always amazing and awesome fine dining place. Waiting for next visiting for our first anniversary.
Great atmosphere, Great and unique foods,
and Very nice and talented Chef.
A special experience, quality fresh ingredients beautifully prepared and damn delicious!
Great experience and food! Extensive wine/sake list and top notch service. Only comment would be in terms of value for money as menu remains expensive for quantities received and you're in for an expensive meal if you decide to go with wine pairing or and expensive bottle (wine list is very tempting).
Still very worth trying. 4.5 out of 5 all up.
What a vibe.
We had a table in front of the sushi chefs who were as talented as they were charming, we had the tasting menu, the truffle meatball was amazing and the service was great.
The chef’s table provides a very intimate dining experience featuring high quality produce. It was entertaining to see a master at work.
Our initial impression on entering the building was not one of being welcomed by the woman behind the high desk, very officious, not friendly. However, the girl who walked us upstairs was lovely and showed us our seat at the bar, while we waited for our 8.30pm chef's table session. We then were given just a wine list by another waitress who came back to take our order and we asked if there was a cocktail list, she went away and came back with the cocktail list and stood over us impatiently waiting for us to select our drinks. There was quite a list to read, so we asked for a little time to read over. This waitress then did not show up again to take our order, so we needed to ask a waiter could we order a drink. Once we were escorted to the private 12 seat Chef's table we could not be happier. The service was impeccable from the dining staff. The food was sensational, our fav was the octopus! Each course was beautifully presented , and the ingredients used were a taste explosion and even though there was 19 courses we did not leave feeling bloated or full. We selected the wine pairing which matched the dishes, the sommelier was generous, courteous and knowledgeable. The Chef was professional and described each dish. Definitely one of my top meals ever. Just a shame we came across a couple of blunt discourteous staff at the start of the evening. They could certainly learn how to treat diners with respect and happiness from the staff looking after the Chef's Dining Room.
The service and the ambiance is very good, the food is only alright, oysters are terrible(not fresh)
The chef table is worth every cents. Delicious food with beautiful display. Only thing is a bit of noisy from the other part of restaurant.
Hands down the best dining experience and food I’ve had in Australia.
Loved the food experience, however the premium drinks was very expensive. I don’t think it’s worth $160 p/p wouldn’t do that again.
very special experience, outstanding food and service, like no other in Melbourne, very Japanese yet so the best of what is Australian, 'fusion' of the best of the world with the best of Australian, instead of sushi fish you might expect to be sourced from Japan, you get our very own local amazing sustainable produce, exquisite!
Great food, Japanese with a twist of theatre. Set menu covers all levels of adventure. Great drink menu if you choose to go your own way.
Amazimg service and food here. Our chef Yong was fantastic !
Beautiful quality food. The chef talked about what he was serving us and where the protein was from. It's a fusion between the Japanese culture and others. Highly recommended!
In the top ten meals I've eaten...ever. Just amazing. One of those meals where you wake up the next morning and your tongue is still delighting about the tastes from the night before. The service was first class too. Can't recommend this more highly. I'm desperately trying to find a reason to go back asap.
My husband chose Kisume for his birthday dinner and in his words “best meal I have ever had”! The quality of food was exceptional, the speed for each dish was on point and although a shared table felt like it was just you in the room with the chef! Wonderful experience we both enjoyed thoroughly
Top notch food and presentation at the Chef's Table. Money well spent for the high quality and level of creativity served by the Chef.
Great experience for any special occassion.
Simply the best omakase I have ever experienced. The food was to die for. Exquisite. And the chef was fun and entertaining.
Food was good and creative. However , it’s not traditional Japanese dishes. If you expect to have traditional Omakase (chef’s choices), you may be disappointed. Knowing it’s more like creative/fusion dishes as your expectations, you’d enjoy it.
Took my boyfriend here for chef's table, we were very satisfied and happy with the overall experience. The food was amazing, presentation was outstanding and service was considerate and professional. We discussed coming back again and do plan to. Thank you so much for this experience. It made our night
Had a great night with staff being very accomodating and topping it off with some tasty food
Creative dishes with excellent fresh + seasonal ingredients, great interaction with the che fand a fun experience overall
Truly extraordinary. One of the best meals of my life.
Beautiful quiet ambience with outstanding Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend
What an experience! The food was unbelievable. 19 courses of the most spectacular ingredients I have ever had. Definitely a must do.
It was great!
Delightful Omakase experience brought to life by a charming and creative chef.
The food was exceptional as was the service. It was also a surprisingly relaxed and enjoyable to share the table with others and watch the master chef in action. I’d highly recommend.
Had birthday dinner here, was great! first time having omakase
$195 pp is definitely worth it, the chef table downstairs looks really good too, would go back to try
We did the chefs table at Kisume and it was just awesome! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was lovely. The whole experience was stunning. The wagu beef and foie gras was out of this world!!
It was a beautiful experience. Every piece of sushi was lovingly made. I liked the innovative take. Some purists might frown on it, but this makes it special to Melbourne.
Girlfriend found this place on both Social Media and through adverts and such. We went while on a short weekend to Melbourne, and I will say, that the Omakase that they provide is amazing. The food on the night was a 19 course menu, each meal tasting unique from one another. All the food served on the night was prepared and made to eat in front of us. A very friendly as well as a very knowledgeable chef, providing an explanation for each meal prepared for us.
If you are after a fun dining experience with some fantastic Japanese Omakase, this is definitely the place to book and try out. The price for the dining experience was dear but I would say, the experience, the company as well as the great food is worth every cent.
I highly recommend this to those who are interested in a good Omakase experience and want to have a good evening out with partners/friends.
Food was good, however there were simply too many sushi dishes. Something like 13-15 of the total 19 dishes were sushi. Receiving hot or fried dishes were a godsend but then after straight back into the sushi.
Also too much wasabi was used, overpowering the flavors of the dish and it was used on at least half of all meals.
Too much used on singular dishes and overall throughout the night as a whole
