A nod to the contiguous Dawson Brothers Fireplace Plant of late 19th century Chicago, The Dawson's interior design draws inspiration from the history of the neighborhood and the industrial innovation of that era and offers an artfully stripped-down aesthetic, highlighting natural and reclaimed materials in unexpected ways throughout the establishment.

Great patio and awesome food! Little pricey, but everything was excellent!
Service started out a little slow because the waiter had several large parties. Could have used more wait staff. But he picked up the pace, gave a great recommendation on a cocktail and finished strong. Food was great!!
The service was not very great this time. Took a really long time to get beverages/food. Overall, it's a great place to get drinks/food. Little pricey.
Clean and vibrant environment, food was amazing!
Another great experience at The Dawson. Love the GTO cocktail & the chicken fried lobster. The patio is beautiful. Everything about this place is a good time.
I learned about The Dawson from channel 2 news 2 Saturday's ago. I thought it would be fun to experience the "adult" camping. It met all my expectations. However, I would say the bug juice was very strong....
Thanks for a great experience.
The food was outstanding. The restaurant and decor are very beautiful. Loud atmosphere.
Love everything about this place! Will be back on my next visit to Chicago.
Excellent experience all around. From the host greeting and friendly staff, great patio, and professional service. Appetizers were so good that we never even got to the main dishes this time. I highly recommend the Dawson.
The steak was amazing!!!
Great Crafted Cocktails. (wish they had more choice) Solid menu.
My husband and I came to The Dawson for an anniversary dinner, and it was everything we imagined and more. We know the food was great, but the service was outstanding. We were greeted with a free bottle of champagne, and a "happy anniversary." Everything about our night was exceptional.
We were celebrating my birthday at the Dawson, our favorite place for special occasions....we had our wedding reception there so it’s always a fun trip down memory lane when we visit. Food was amazing as usual. Drinks were on point. Sitting outside is so pleasant at the Dawson, and our server even brought us some birthday drinks. All around awesome place. And please try the fish tacos. Wowza
Our waiter was awesome and the service was excellent!
I’ve been to the Dawson a few times before, but only for brunch and once in the winter for dinner. All of my previous visits were so-so on the food aspect (stellar service each time though). This time, it was summer. Our party of 6 sat on the patio, which was beautiful and quiet and covered with vines and potted plants. The summer food and drinks were outstanding. Tuna ceviche was fresh and delicious and served with housemade corn tortilla chips. The burrata with fresh greens and pickled strawberries was wonderfully balanced. I had the Dawson salad with their chicken fried lobster on top for my entree - very good and very filling without being heavy. We had a LOT of their cocktails- and each was better than the last! The GTO was the crowd favorite drink. Will definitely be back this summer.
Decided to go to The Dawson based on the menu, offering Branzino dish and also meat dishes, that would satisfy the range of tastes of our party. We ate inside and enjoyed the comfortable booth. The appetizers were very tasty - Octopus and the meatballs.
Very relaxing atmosphere.
Food is great but it staff is let us angry
Celebrated a dear friends birthday, Everything was EXCELLENT. From the location to parking, the patio tables the lighting, even the bathroom wallpaper. All of our dishes were amazingly fresh and flavorful. Such a lovely find with wonderful service. Our server Johnathan was the best!
We ate outside on a gorgeous summer evening. I'd say that this is a fabulous place for a girl's night out or a bachelorette party stop - they have these fantastic drinks served in a disco ball. Probably not somewhere I'd go for a real foodie experience since the menu was sort of limited and didn't make nice accompaniments. But it is a blast and great variety on the menu.
Don’t come here to eat. Drinks are okay but the food was terrible.
Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday. Will definitely be back!
Great food, fun atmosphere, great service
My boyfriend took me here to celebrate my birthday. We’ve been before but it was winter and the outdoor patio was closed. We loved it so much that we are now thinking it would be a great place to host corporate private events with our companies.
Food is always delish! Ambiance was spectacular. I mentioned that the noise level was moderate but we didn’t really notice it at our individual table. We love the drinks here. They are really great quality. I just can’t say enough great things. We are the grilled cauliflower, Red fish tacos to share and split the delish burger ....
Five of us met on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. We started with cocktails, which were all good. Mine was a bourbon concoction, whose name I do not remember, but I do remember loving it! On to brunch, we split a bacon flight and cinnamon roll. Plus our meals! Truly the bacon flight and sweet roll were the best ever! Everyone was happy with their meals and I thought the Brussels Sprout Hash was excellent. The only hitch was the service, which was spotty. Our server did not check back with us often enough and we had a very hard time hearing him. The restaurant was not banging loud, yet we really had difficulty hearing what he was saying. Fortunately we were able to flag down hostesses and bus people. I would definitely go again!
Beautiful outdoor area, and good food. Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind enjoying the patio. Would definitely return!
I scanned the reviews before reserving a table at The Dawson and will join in those commenting on the noise level. It is very loud inside the restaurant; just be prepared.
We had a reservation and the table inside was ready for us, but we waited about 45 minutes for a table outside (the hosts said that they don't take reservations for the patio.) We were glad that we did. While still "energetic" it was not oppressively loud. If the weather is good, try to sit outside. We all enjoyed our meals and the staff was attentive but not intrusive.
We had s really good time and our servers were attentive.
We sat inside which was fine but I think it would've been nicer outside or upstairs.
Food was fine, nothing great for a vegetarian.
The service was incredibly slow that day. We saw our waiter maybe 3 times, so it was frustrating.
The Dawson is the place to be on a Saturday Night!
Loud, raucous and wonderful food.
Service with a smile and always professional!!!
We love The Dawson, and this trip was as good as all the others. We tried the chicken-fried lobster for the first time, and it was fantastic! The sausages were outstanding as always and the cocktails are interesting and delicious.
Service was incredible! They knew we were there for an anniversary and welcomed us with some complementary champagne. The food was a bit on the pricy side, but we were pretty price inelastic given the occasion.
Had an awesome time, with wonderful food and unique drinks on Father’s Day. The outdoor patio was nice and the music was so so great!
We had been to Dawson before and thought the food was excellent and had a nice atmosphere. Came back on Father's Day and unfortunately had horrible service. It is hard on a holiday but our waitress Monica would just disappear. took forever to get drinks, food. etc.
Father's day. My husband loves blues music so the live band was an awesome touch.
The location and ambiance of the place is great...can’t say the same about the food/drinks. The food was definitely pre-made and reheated when ordered. It was stale, salty, and lacked the sophistication required for the outrageous prices charged. Might go back for the nice patio, but won’t order anything off the menu.
Father’s Day brunch here! Diverse menu selection and something for everyone. The Boston crime pie was great!
Great atmosphere and awesome patio! The food was good however I did not think it was worth the price. We ordered two apps which were nothing special. The main issue I had was the service was slow all night and after spending alot of money they told us we had leave because the patio was closed. A 15 min warning would have been nice instead of having us just end our night abruptly.
Repeat customer. Parents in town for weekend, sat outside on the patio. Food matches Atmosphere. Great summer spot
