The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.

The setting is beautiful and the decor is romantic. Love the charm and the food was delicious
Two couples lovely relaxed dinner during restaurant week
Wonderful seerrvie and wonderful meals! We always love the historic charm and ambience at the Elkridgee Furnace Inn, and Chef Dan Wecker always has a variety of interesting new dishes to try. We'll be back!
The food, the service, the atmosphere: it never disappoints!
The restaurant week menu is fabulous!
Fantastic food and spectacular service. We have not been out to a restaurant for several weeks because of the COVID issues but truly felt safe and truly enjoyed our experience. Made our reservation to return before we departed.
Always the best!
Always an enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. Gourmet food in an historic setting. First class food and service in a cozy, relaxed setting
Overall, we had a really good meal and evening. The servers were attentive, food was good, and one of the chefs personally helped us choose a great wine.
The only service issue that had an impact on the entire evening was when we were led to a room full of two tops with one table placed for four right next to the fireplace. Given the draft coming in, asked if we could sit at the table for four by the fireplace and were told no. When we left two hours later, nobody else had been seated at that table. It may seem like a small thing, but having to put your coat on during dinner for a nice evening takes away from the experience. Being cold is distracting.
I would recommend this restaurant far more temperate evening.
Fantastic food and service!
Conversion of an historic home and tavern to a restaurant, maintaining the historic architecture and interior features. The ambiance is that of a very nice home and completely unpretentious. Background music is familiar material, mostly instrumental, with a healthy dose of progressive jazz. Diners may actually speak in a normal tone and hear each other.
Spirits and wine of good quality and in abundance. The servers don't need to write down "Bombay martini dry, straight up with lots of olives." They just know.
Food is all locally sourced, organic and fresh. The restaurant makes its own cheeses, sausage and even ice cream. Baking all in house. They even grow their own mushrooms! Beyond delicious. All meals prepared to order.
The menu is ample, comprehensive, and mercifully devoid of trendy nonsense. These are classic preparations with a bit of a twist, here and there, reflecting availability of local flavors and the chef's encyclopedic knowledge of what just works.
Staff is attentive but not hovering, knowledgeable on the food, courteous. Although "fine dining," and priced accordingly, I certainly have paid more for less elsewhere, but never in an historic building.
Although located in a forested wilderness in the Patapsco preserve, the restaurant is just a few minutes from BWI airport and a wonderful alternative to dining in one of the hotels and eateries near BWI.
If you don't eat here at least once, you will be missing a "once in a lifetime" experience.
As always, it was a wonderful evening of amazing food, excellent wine, and attentive service. The new winter menu is packed with 'top shelf' choices; the Smoked Duck Bolognese and the Bison filet were amazing--prepared to perfection and wonderfully presented.
Food is delightful, presentation is spot on; ambience is wonderful; service is exceptional! Perfect place for special occasions or romantic dinner for two.
Food was great, service was very slow and choppy. Was hard to get refills on beverages. I’d go back, may have just been an off night for servers.
This would be our second time celebrating our anniversary here. We came many years ago and this was our 23rd anniversary. Beautiful place and staff was very warm and welcoming as always. We were in the fireplace room room which ironically is where we got married at another place, we were married in front of the fireplace. Thank you for making our 23rd anniversary so special.
Amazing neighborhood gem! Exquisite service and food!
This is my third visit to the Elkridge Furnace Inn. I have yet to have a disappointing experience there. The food and the service was exceptional. The staff is very attentive! The atmosphere in the historic house is pleasant with soft music throughout. This is one of those special places that I’m happy to take friends and family to. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful evening and the staff was very friendly. The food was delicious.
Everything was perfect as always. Hands down my favorite place to bring friends for a quiet Sunday morning.
Beautiful gem of a location! Gorgeous Inn with delicious Farm to Table fare. Service could have easily stepped up one more star, but it was a great meal with good service. Definitely recommend! Great for romance - we were able to take our two younger children and they loved it as well. Great spot!
Quality of the food was very good but the service was slow. Went on New Years Eve and it wasn't crowded but it was still at least 20 minutes between courses. Took over 2 hours for a three course meal.
The chef came to our table to discuss my gluten free issue. His recommendations and descriptions helped all four of us make our selections.
We love that we can royally serve our gluten free guests Betty. Thanks for sharing the New Year Celebration with us!
Delicious meal. Beautiful atmosphere. Thank you for a lovely evening.
We left after 20 minutes of sitting at a table without drinks or anyone coming to explain why. The staff seemed overwhelmed and in a bad mood. No one at the door to check you in as multiple staff passed us at the front door and did not acknowledge that we were waiting. We did not have a good feeling and left.
We are so sorry this happened Solstice. Last-minute covid precautions had our hostess and a couple servers out and our manager is out due to health challenges with his mom. We've been challenged for sure as our guests counts keep growing. Hope you'll try us again under better circumstances.
We take my parents to this restaurant every year for Christmas and it’s always a lovely evening. The staff was wonderful and the food superb.
Great food and service. Our favorite place to eat.
The food and wine selection was fantastic. Should have ordered a starter because the entrees took quite a while on a busy night.
A local gem! Creating and fresh. Great people. A perennial favorite.
This has become our favorite restaurant for a great meal. Brunch is a favorite, but any meal we have had there is outstanding, And don't miss the killer desserts!
We started the evening with a ton of enthusiasm as we settled in and reviewed a really interesting and innovative menu. We ordered a couple of drinks and assembled a charcuterie board with many of the house made meats, cheeses and pickles.
Our table was in a cute room upstairs next to the fireplace with couples at the four other tables. It felt like we were in a nice groove then gaps occurred. The wait staff evaporated for 15 min. Not a problem as the appetizer were filling. We finally ordered dinner-I chose the shrimp and scallops Coquille St. Jacques and my wife married a vegetable tart and salad from the appetizer menu. All very nicely done. My dish had sides of garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini in perfect proportions. In the meantime, we polished off the wine, the water and our plates feeling well satisfied as the rest of the diners wrapped up their meals and headed out. Then we wait. And wait. No dessert. No bill. No no one. Staff walk by the room but none enter. A little awkward being abandoned in our room. After 15 minutes, we get up, and head to the front to pay our bill. Huge bummer. I was ready to tell all my foodie friends about the Elkridge Furnace Inn but I’m a bit torn at this point. Some of the things I was so excited about lost their luster. The endive was a bit tough… the drinks we a bit watery… the speck a bit tough. I so wanted to provide a raving review.
Amazing food and service.
My girlfriend and I will go there every time we fly out BWI. We really enjoyed the whole experience.
Glad we are your go to place in the Baltimore area, Darren! Cheers!
The food was amazing and the Inn created a wonderful, homey feel. It did take quite a while (1 hr) for our food for four people to come out but overall, a lovely experience!
From growing, picking, creating and serving, we love when guests find our food amazing! Glad you felt at home and can't wait for your next visit! Thanks for sharing this time with us.
First time diners. We were initially seated in a small room next to a table of four who were extremely loud. One of them apologized to us, saying they were hard of hearing; they quieted for a moment but soon resumed very loud conversation. We asked to be seated elsewhere, and were accommodated, a table we were very happy with. Very much appreciated the courtesy with which we were treated. Owner ? Manager ? later came by to ask about new table, very much appreciated. I had the "stacked" Caeser Salad. Did not care much for it: restaurant trying too hard to be different. Would have preferred more traditional version. Veal scallopine was OK but not great; thought it came with masked potatoes; but seemed to be ?grits?. Companion had the garden salad and shrimp and scallops dinner and was very happy with both. Would be willing to give Elkridge Furnace Inn another try.
We appreciate your review, Steve. Of course we can't predict other diners in our intimate spaces, so thanks for your patience and understanding. Regarding our Caesar, we use heirloom lettuces picked right from our own organic gardens and greenhouse and do understand that this makes our presentation unconventional. Our menu changes fairly frequently to be seasonal, so our veal presentation changes as well. Hope you will try us again!
Sadly we expected much better everything. The waiter was knowledgeable however we only saw him for the drink order food order and to collect the check. A busboy took care of everything else while he was attentive he only was employed for a month. The food was below average at best. I ordered a $45 ribeye supposed to be 16oz it was 11oz of fat, my wife had lamb shank that was less than fall of the bone as advertised. It was necessary to cut the shank off the bone and gamie is an understatement. There was a wedding going on and we wonder if we actually had the attention we deserved because of the wedding.
Thank your for your frank remarks Scott -- appreciate your taking the time to review your experience. We have had our challenges with staffing due to covid protocols. However, we have both servers and assistants that work hard as a team playing zone where needed. Our kitchen is split into two areas with two staffs: one for our catered events; the other just for restaurant. I will pass on your concerns to the Team.
Fantastic place, drove by this place many times ...finally decided to try. Upscale date night with an intimate and historic setting. Friendly and professional staff, great food for a fair price.
The food was delicious, but the portions and price point do not add up. The $14 salad was really a garnish.
Absolutely phenomenal meal with really great staff
Great food, great atmosphere.
Never have had a bad meal at this establishment. Our go to place for a for a nice relaxing dinner. Great food and friendly owner and staff.
