Welcome to The Fallen Trident.
Have a drink. Make a toast.

I appreciate the effort to bring an authentic tiki bar experience to Santa Clarita, but the Fallen Trident is neither an authentic tiki bar nor is it an experience. While the menu runs deep with passable tropical cocktails, the glassware, theme, and vibe completely miss the mark. Lost is the classic mid-century artistry and any nod to Polynesian culture. Instead, the Fallen Trident attempts, and fails, to craft its own mythology based on a loose understanding of the stories of the Kracken. The decor is dark, poorly planed, heavily reliant on the use of fishing nets, and about as thematically interesting as a first-year Disney intern could produce. Looking past the sunken disaster that floods the interior of the space, the food does not improve on the wreckage. The menu is divided into sections such as Grog, The Shallows, and The Depths which the diner is to interpret at drinks, appetizers, and mains. Each section has a cargo load full of similarly punned offerings that lean deep into the theme in an attempt to be cleaver, but come across as forced and trite. It’s as if the owners got the Medieval Times playbook and asked, “How can we make this worse?” We got the Peppercorn Filet and the Pineapple Fried Rice with Coconut Shrimp. Both were varying degrees of terrible. The filet was presented more in the form of medallions with fried rice and a brown “peppercorn” sauce. This interpretation of the classic steak au poivre bordered on inedible. The chef’s choice to infuse lemongrass into the dish overpowered any sense of the expected peppercorn flavor suggested by the name, but was also an amateurish choice to pair with red meat. The flavors simply do not go together. The Pineapple Fried Rice was slightly better, but the coconut shrimp was simply the shrimp appetizer plated in a pineapple round and shoved into the rice. There was no sweetness. No acid. No depth of flavor. Just dry fried shrimp with dry fried rice. Pretentious and underwhelming.

The drinks are delicious, and so are the appetizers. The food menu has odd choices, such as having shishito peppers as the only vegetable that comes the filet mignon instead of something like broccoli or asparagus - I dont know anybody that wants to sit and eat a whole bunch of peppers, at least not when given other options. While I do understand that this is sort of a niche place, and you pay a premium for an atmosphere/experience, I still find that everything is decently overpriced. It's shouldn't cost $40-$50 per person with just 1 drink and 1 food item.

Overall vibes and ambiance is great along with the service of the wait staff. Food and drinks came out quite quick which was great! Had the crab Rangoon and deviled eggs. Both were ok, though I did feel it was quite overpriced with the small amount you get. Drinks were great though, strong and very tasty with good presentation. Overall will eventually come back on another date night and nice to see something like this in SCV.

See for yourself: Food overpriced and not that appetizing. Coconut Shrimp, did not look like or taste like any coconut shrimp I have ever had before, did not even look like shrimp.. When opened up they looked like pressed together shrimp inside of breading with really no coconut or flavor. Pinnapple rice had no pinnaple in the rice, just a pinnapple ring that held the rice. Rangoons, small, (the size of my thumbnail) overcooked and had no flavor.
