The restaurant was poorly staffed, service took a long time. Our booth was dirty. The waitress was kind but had too many tables. The manager was acting as host and he was rude, clearly did not have our reservation. There were dirty, un-bussed tables everywhere, HUGE groups throughout the restaurant. It was freezing inside also. will not go back to this restaurant.
Love love love this place! Great food, outstanding service, great location!
Waiter didnt come.to table for 25 minutes after the order. And he really.wanted to leave. The dishware was dirty. When we asked for plastic silverware and it took five minutes. So our soup was cold. He just didnt attended to us @ all
Great location! Waterfront! Easy to sit outdoors and social distance! The food was fantastic!
Very knowledgeable wait staff. Very satisfied service
Nice but service was not all that good! They obeyed all COVID-19 rules!
Outstanding service, Rob is great! Good group of people.
We were seated outside by a big table with kids whose parents thought it was ok to let them run around & swing on ropes. Our waiter forgot our wine, & water. We got a new waiter when manager noticed. So it got better. Mike was attentive! Thank goodness. I’d love to go back. I felt safe there with social distancing. Beautiful place. Non Covid it would’ve been packed.
We shared in the ambiance of the flying dutchman and crew. The wait staff was great. Although they did not have a hostess, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The Shrimp fettuccini was delicious, while the Seafood platter was bland, the stuffed shrimp was spoiled and the fried oysters were over cooked.
Food was pretty good but not great. Service and atmosphere was very good, but the prices are too high. The fried shrimp was mediocre.
It was great and the server was attentive.
The service was good not great, the experience can improve .
We ate during the day one Saturday. The staff were friendly and polite, the food was good. The venue was almost empty but it is nicely decorated in an oldy world way.
The food and service were great. The drinks are very lite on the alcohol but as the driver I didn't mind otherwise I would skip all signature drinks and order shots or something on the rocks. The patio was well spaced out. The food was seasoned very well and the service was very good.
The staff were friendly and the view was great. They were practicing social distancing but for the price of the food it was not as tasty as I had hoped.
One of our favorite places
My bro and I had a great time at TFD. Despite a rain shower it let up enough for us to sit outside on the boardwalk patio. Brook was very good. She helped us wipe dry the seats and table. She was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food were tremendous. Bro and I had a great time catching up on the last few weeks.
First, there was a fly in my drink - not a gnat but a huge disgusting trash fly. When we spoke to the manager, he brushed it off like it was nothing. Second, the server refused to wear a mask. Third, the food was disgusting. Management was unapologetic and didn’t care about the bad service, cleanliness, or Food. We will never go back to that restaurant again.
We were about the only ones in the restaurant that day for lunch. Food and service was pretty good, but what struck me was how dirty the place was, especially the floors, given how light the business was.
Friendly waitress and go to place for good seafood in Kemah
It was closed
If your old school and want the original Flying Dutchman, this is not that. This is a Landry's and it shows. Our waiter was horrific. Never listened. Was too rushed. Slightly rude in my opinion.
Food was good but the signature coleslaw with shrimp from the real old days is not whats on the menu. So sad.
the clientele is mixed. Well dressed to down right filthy attire. Anything goes here.
Loud boats driving by and people walking the boardwalk. Nothing wrong with any of it but be aware.
The service was horrible made reservations for 715 didn’t get seanting until after 730 minutes the waitress seemed drunk the margarita was horrible never going back
Food was not worth the price. The drinks were good. The restaurant could have been cleaner. We were seated at a table that had food on floor underneath. Our waiter did a good job though.
The catfish ok boy was amazing just light enough to not over fill u! The kids plates are very good sized. And the banana daquari was so good it taste like a banana split with rum! 😍 definitely will go again
It was closed at 8 pm. The website was wrong. There was no signage anywhere saying so. Yet it was long closed when we got there.
Our waitress was phenomenal, although it was past closing time, she was still very attentive while also tending to other tables and closing down the patio area.
The food was amazing but the restaurant was hot. We also had to ask our server to order and our drinks were never refilled.
The menu was limited due to Corona and although the server wanted to accommodate us as best as we could, the food was not worth it.
Great food and service.
We sat outside on the deck. The atmosphere was great. Service was slow but okay. Food is okay and really does not taste "fresh". I only go here for the Atmosphere. Will go back for a glass of wine and maybe an appetizer to just sit by the water.
It was hot in the restaurant, but we were seated by a window so maybe that was the reason. The calamari was a little tough and chewy, but the rest of our food was very good. Our server was excellent and very attentive. Overall a good experience.
I have been there once before on a morning and had enjoyed the small crowd especially with us having a toddler. The entire staff is always very nice and ready to help I look forward to going back again.
Excellent outdoor dining patio on the boardwalk. Watch boats pass as you eat and drink. Great ambience! Great location for a date night!
I wish I could give the Flying Dutchman “0” stars, but it was not an option. I made reservations & was seated fairly quickly, we were given menus & that is where the service stopped. After 10 mins 2 other tables near us were seated, 3 mins they had drinks & one of the tables had placed their order. We were still waiting for someone to take a drink order. Due to COVID 19 there were a lot of empty tables. After almost 20 mins we left with no service. We went next door to Bubba Gumps-had to wait for a table since we didn’t have reservations, but having reservations at the Flying Dutchman didn’t make up for the nonexistent service.
Had reservations for 10 and was seated quickly. The appetizer(gumbo) is maybe the best in the area. The Ultimate Seafood Platter was great, except for the breading on the fish which was good, but not the best(probably just cornmeal would be better). The server was outstanding and was very attentive and helpful. Having dined here for many years, I find that the service and food is always "top of the line". I recommend the Flying Dutchman over most restaurants in the area.
Once you’ve had Pappadeauxs; it’s hard to meet its match. For the price it should be better. The ambience and location is ideal.
Had a great time and we will definitely go back to enjoy again.
We drove all the way to Kemah to eat at the Flying Dutchman after viewing the online menu. When we arrived And saw the menu, the items we wanted were not available. They said the menu online is outdated and wrong and has been that way for a long time. Very disappointing! Slow service, salad without dressing, overcooked fish. Never going back
Longer wait than usual. Ordered drink at inside bar but unneccsarily waited on bartender finishing a drink before being acknowledged. No one attending outside bar. No one served me at my outside table while I had my only drink.
