This is my 3rd time dining at the grill but this year is very disappointing as the food quality has deteriorated so much and is nothing like what it was under Tom Botoon I will not visit again sorry

From the moment we walked through the beautiful doors and the reception area of the Dorchester and presented ourselves at The Grill by Tom Booton's restaurant it was like entering a different world The entire luncheon experience was impeccable from start to finish. The restaurant itself was beautiful with lots of space and perfect lighting, ladies even had the option of having a small stool sat by them to put their handbags on (if you know, you know). The entire 3 course menu was a pure delight being both a feast for the eyes as well as our taste buds. The service team were so friendly and professional and always smiling, nothing was too much trouble for them which made our afternoon even more special with our friends over from the USA. We started off our very leisurely lunch with a variety of cocktails, I chose a 'White Russian' and our friends selected an 'Old Fashioned' which were simply delicious from the restaurant bar. What made this afternoon even more special was we were all invited on a Kitchen tour at the Dorchester. Escalators taking us going down many floors, state of the art kitchens, and a wine cellar anyone would die for, just an incredible experience, We all enjoyed the most perfect afternoon and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank David, Joy and Alex our Headwaiters, Roksa our Sommelier and Freddie our incredibly talented chef and his team for giving us all an afternoon we will certainly never forget.

FAQs

Family‑friendly: yes, guests do bring family members and celebrate birthdays here, and parties including teens are commonly mentioned. The dining room is spacious and thoughtfully arranged (some small comforts like handbag stools were noted). Accessibility specifics aren’t stated in the available information, so if you have mobility needs or require particular seating, call ahead and the team, praised for being very attentive, will likely help accommodate you.

If you want a lively, celebratory vibe, choose a weekend (many guests enjoy weekend lunches and dinners). For a quieter, more intimate experience, pick a weekday, Tuesday to Thursday provide the calmest atmosphere. Sunday lunch can also be special thanks to longer service hours if you prefer a leisurely midday meal.

Busiest: weekend lunches and dinner services tend to be the liveliest, especially when guests celebrate special occasions. Quietest: weekday lunches or early weekday evenings are typically calmer, offering a more relaxed experience. Because the restaurant is popular for memorable meals, booking ahead for peak times is recommended.

Yes, The Grill at The Dorchester is an excellent pick for date night. The room is polished and theatrical (striking chandeliers, Bentley leather banquettes and an open kitchen), the service is frequently described as exceptionally attentive, and dishes are presented with flair. Many guests celebrate birthdays and special occasions here, so expect a refined, romantic atmosphere and thoughtful floor service, ideal for an elegant evening out in Mayfair.

Portions tend toward refined, well‑balanced plates rather than oversized portions. The Grill’s description highlights flavour‑packed small plates alongside classic dishes presented anew, and guests often enjoy a three‑course set menu (noted as good value). Expect thoughtful, restaurant‑style portions designed for multi‑course dining, if you prefer larger portions, consider ordering a few shared plates or starters and mains.

The Grill at The Dorchester serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on a regular weekly schedule. Breakfast: Mon–Fri 08:00–10:30, Sat–Sun 08:00–11:00. Lunch: Mon–Sat 12:00–14:15, Sun 12:00–15:00. Yes, the team at The Grill is frequently praised for being attentive and accommodating, so making requests (dietary needs, seating preference, celebrating an occasion) before arrival is encouraged. Call the restaurant or include notes when booking; staff go out of their way to ensure special occasions feel memorable, according to many guests.

Families do dine here and guests often celebrate with children or teens, but there’s no mention of a dedicated kids’ menu. The Grill focuses on refined British dishes and multi‑course dining, so if you’re coming with younger children consider an early seating or call ahead to discuss menu flexibility. The team’s warm service means they often accommodate family needs where possible.

For a lively, celebratory experience, aim for weekend lunches or evening dinners, guests frequently celebrate special occasions at these times. If you prefer a quieter meal, try a weekday lunch or an early week evening when service is still polished but the room tends to be calmer. Booking ahead is recommended for popular weekend slots and special dates.

The restaurant recommends Smart Casual dress. Guests often treat visits as special occasions, so dressing neatly and smartly is appropriate, think smart shirts, dresses or smart trousers. If you’re unsure for a particular event, a quick call to the restaurant can clarify expectations for that service period.

The ambience is polished, playful and proudly London, theatrical but warm. The room combines classic, elegant décor (chandeliers and leather banquettes) with an energetic open kitchen and attentive floor service. Guests consistently praise the welcoming, professional staff and describe the overall experience as delightful and memorable, making it suited for special occasions or an elevated everyday meal.
