We were celebrating an 80th birthday. We found the service incredibly slow. The staff were pleasant but just not around. It didn’t seem to be busy, though there was a wedding party in another area of the hotel. The food wasn’t very exciting at all. We chose from the à la carte menu as there wasn’t much of a choice from the other set menu. Unfortunately, we all said the same thing, the food was very mediocre. We end up going back to the venue due to the hotel itself being lovely but without the good service that it always used to have, it becomes a little less special.

The Kingsway is far from what it used to be, a busy lunchtime venue with a much better choice of food. On this visit it was quiet and menu choice limited to keep it under £30 for 3 courses I suppose. We would happily pay more to return to the previous choice of courses. It is a lovely place to eat, tablecloths, good service and a view. I wonder if they are hoping to run the lunch time service down so they no longer open for weekday lunch. A shame as we have enjoyed dining there for many years but each time we go recently the experience is less than it used to be.

The food was very tasty. It was served quickly with little waiting time. The waitress and the waiter were polite and made the experience most enjoyable . The view over the Humber was beautiful.

Unfortunately Melba toast which is usually provided on the tables was missing. Could have done with side vegetables with the duck, those provided on the plate were a bit sparse.

This visit was acceptable. Better than the last visit a month or so ago when we were shown to our table which they suddenly realised was set for breakfast and we sat there at the table while they stripped it and set it up for dinner only to miss the correct cutlery, no Melba toast or water until we asked for it . No apology , it was uncomfortable. As stated this visit was better but the place has lost the finesse it once possessed and is becoming just another Cleethorpes run of the mill eatery . It's a shame as we did love it here . This last visit was nicer but was strange how things were still missed, my wife's water kept being topped up and my own empty glass ignored. If you going to do it , do it right as I don't want it to become another restaurant that becomes a thing of the past and I went want to want to return .

A good choice of menus including a Centenary one to commemorate 100 years of the Kingsway Hotel. Hot plates, always a bonus, excellent food, polite staff. A pleasant experience.
