Service was unacceptable it took over 45 minutes to order appetizers and then another 30 minutes later the appetizers arrived. And then 30 minutes later the food was ordered and then 30 minutes later the food finally came. Arrived early for our reservation and was seated immediately which was awesome, but it went downhill fast from there. The restaurant was NOT that busy multiple tables were empty, the waitress was nowhere to be seen, we were there for over 3 hours for a simple dinner and the waitress only came by to check on us 3 times the whole night and was never apologetic for the delays we encountered! I’ll never go back there again!!

Meatloaf was old and literally as hard as charcoal, our waitress was slow inattentive offered me a refill of tea when we were completely done with dinner, it took an hour and 15 minutes to receive our meal. The rest of our stay was fine.

We went to High Tea and it was lovely! They are just getting back into it but the food was super yummy and the staff was wonderful. I would love to see local tea selections for future from perhaps Tucson Tea Company, Scented Leaf, or the like.

Verry dated property and needs upgrades compared to other properties in Tucson. Too many wine choices by the glass making the choices old in the bottle. Had to return mine and replaced with cocktail. Lounge singer Corey specter was good

Wonderful restaurant with exceptional nighttime views of Tucson & Mountains. Lovely place to go for sunsets. Wait staff is great. Fun atmosphere , friendly people because of how the restaurant is set up. Easy to talk to others, but only if you want. Nice upscale bar menu with great wine selection.

Took awhile for drink service. Oysters had flies on them and on table outside. Gratuity was automatically added which was 50!

Ambiance and service were good. The food quality was pretty average. First time I have been disappointed here in many years. since we were the only ones having lunch that day, it was not because a matter of being too busy. more like they didn't care in the kitchen.

What a beautiful location overlooking the lights of the city. The food was great. The service was perfect. I could not have asked for a better dinner experience. We asked for a table outside and response by text was prompt and helpful. My family will definitely be returning.

We attended the High Tea at Westward Look in the Santa Catalina Ballroom, and it was quite different from the other high teas that we’ve been to. Overall, we did have a pleasant experience, but there were a few things that could be improved. The price was very reasonable, however, I would rather pay a little more for a traditional high tea that we all know and love.

FAQs

For atmosphere and live music, Friday or Saturday evenings are the best picks, guests enjoy the band nights and city-light views. For a quieter visit with easier seating and faster service, choose a weekday (Tuesday–Thursday) at lunch or early dinner. For holiday brunches or special teas, check event dates and book early.

The Lookout Bar & Grill is open daily with set service windows: Breakfast 6:00 AM–10:00 AM, Lunch 11:00 AM–5:00 PM, Dinner 5:00 PM–10:00 PM. There’s also a Happy Hour Monday–Friday from 4:00 PM–6:00 PM. For special events (holiday brunches, teas, chef dinners) hours can change, so call or check event details before you go.

Yes, many guests bring children and families to The Lookout for brunches, holiday events and casual meals. Reviews mention family-friendly events (Santa visits, Easter and Thanksgiving buffets), relaxed patio seating and menu options kids enjoy. For younger children consider an earlier seating or letting staff know you’re bringing kids to ensure a comfortable table.

There can be waits during busy events, yes. Guests describe sold-out dance nights, holiday buffets and full tea events; valet and parking delays were also reported. For popular nights (live music weekends, holiday brunches, special teas), make reservations early and arrive on time. If you prefer to avoid waits, choose weekday lunches or midweek dinners.

Yes, the Lookout frequently operates special holiday services and events (guests reported Thanksgiving dinner/buffet, Easter brunch, Mother’s Day and New Year’s Eve chef dinners). Holiday hours and menus can differ from regular hours, so check event listings or call the restaurant/resort for specific holiday times and reservation requirements.

Portion sizes vary by offering. Main entrées (steaks, salmon, pasta, burgers) are typical American restaurant portions and many guests describe mains as generous and satisfying. Specialty events like High Tea serve dainty, tea-style portions (guests called those “small” or “dainty” and contrasted them with full entrees). If you want a heartier meal, order a main or add sides; for tea events expect smaller, delicate servings.

The restaurant lists Business Casual as the dress code. Guests typically dress smart-casual for dinner and special events; if you’re attending a holiday or chef’s dinner, you may want to dress a touch more formally. When in doubt, business casual is appropriate.

Yes, many guests describe the dining areas as accessible, airy and family-friendly. Families and children attend events (Santa visits, holiday brunches) and guests report relaxed, accommodating service for groups. If you need specific accessibility or family seating (booths, patio), call ahead so the team can reserve suitable seating and note any needs.

It depends on your goal. For a lively night with live music and a view, visit Friday or Saturday evenings (live music 7–9 PM). For a quieter meal or a relaxed lunch, midweek and weekday lunch are best. For sunset views and the patio experience, plan for dinner reservations around sunset. For holiday brunches or special events, book early, those fill quickly.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings (live music), holiday events (Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, New Year’s) and special dance or chef dinner nights. Quietest: Weekday lunches and midweek evenings outside of special events. If you prefer a calm meal, aim for weekday lunch or an early dinner on a weekday.

Yes, guests often recommend dining on the patio for sunset and city-light views, and many reviews praise outdoor fire pits and patio seating. The outdoor area is a favorite for evening dining and photos; if you want a patio table, request it when you make your reservation.

Yes, The Lookout Bar & Grill is a popular choice for date night thanks to its city-light views, cozy patio seating and regular live music. Guests frequently mention the sunset patio and outdoor fire pits as highlights. Expect a casual but polished vibe (business casual dress), a full bar, and nightly dinner service; book a reservation and ask for patio or window seating for the best atmosphere. Note: live music on weekends can be lively, so call ahead if you prefer a quieter table.

Overall the ambience is warm, relaxed and focused on the desert views, many guests highlight spectacular city lights and sunset patio seating. Live music adds a festive vibe on weekend nights, although some guests find it loud for conversation. The tone ranges from casual dining to special-event elegance (holiday buffets, chef dinners), so it’s good for both date nights and family meals depending on the night.

Yes, it’s best to phone ahead for seating, dietary needs or event questions. Guests have reported occasional reservation and parking confusion, so calling to confirm your reservation, request patio or window seating, or note dietary restrictions is recommended. For larger groups or holiday/event bookings, contact the resort’s events team to confirm logistics.

The restaurant itself does not advertise a dedicated private dining room, but the Westward Look resort regularly hosts private events in larger spaces (Catalina and Sonoran ballrooms) that guests use for High Tea, dance parties and special dinners. For private parties or ballroom events, contact the resort’s events team to discuss availability and catering options.
