First time here since it has been taken over by new management. I had the fish and chips. The fish was very overcooked, the food took a long time to arrive and we were charged over £1.50 for 1 slice of bread and butter! On the plus side, the waiting staff were friendly when we could catch their eye and were always very polite.

We visited on a quiet Monday. It's deservedly the Dining Pub of the year - good food & friendly service.

We love this pub. Good wines & very well kept real ales. Couple that to the historic cosy charm, good staff with a friendly welcome & very good food. I had the lobster last time & it was really good. If your taste is a cosy pub with loads of charm & no muzak or fruit machines then you will love this pub as well. Along with the Red Lion Freshwater this rates as one of the best on the island.

First time on the Isle of Wight and heard from a local that food at the New Inn was good. Booked online at short notice easily. Found the pub easily and enjoyed a fantastic meal.

The food was very good indeed and the service was excellent. Good value compared to what you might get for a similar price in other pubs. However, my husband and I would have preferred more vegetarian options: two starters and one main choice simply doesn't cut it. The board said they could make many options vegetarian but I am not sure how this would have worked given every dish has meat or fish as the centre of the dish. It's a shame because I would love to go back but am transitioning to a full veggie diet and can't see there would be much point. However, if you're a meat and fish eater it's a very, very good place to eat and I would recommend it to you.
