The Red Door San Diego is committed to offering our guests sustainable and responsibly sourced farm-to-fork dishes. We proudly serve contemporary Italian and modern European cuisine with the freshest locally grown and handcrafted products available. We also feature delicious and unique ingredients from around the world. Chef/Owner Luciano Cibelli shops daily, personally selecting every item we serve. He bakes fresh breads, rolls, desserts and all of the pasta in house (including a special Gluten Free Bucatini) and he develops his menus in rhythm with the seasonal San Diego harvest. That was an incredible and memorable meal. Chef Luciano is a gem of a human—he frequented our table to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal, and was wonderful at recommending specific dishes to try and share. Our waitress was lovely too. She was working ALL the tables AND the bar, but still found time to chat and be present with us. The short ribs were the most tender and delicious ones I’ve ever had. The seafood fettuccine was lovely, and the various chefs specials (pasta with smoked salmon and mushrooms in a cream sauce) were well-loved too. The cheesecake, lava cake, and banana cream pie will have you dreaming of their dessert menu for weeks after. To die for. Prices were extremely reasonable and portions were massive. All the pasta dishes were at least 2x the usual restaurant helping and everyone was able to make a second meal out of it. Drinks were excellent too. There’s a nice wine list and some interesting cocktails. All in all, this might be my new favorite restaurant in San Diego. Please stop by and give it a try. Be patient with the occasional delay in service, because the food and people are working hard and worth it!

Chef Luciano appeared at our table several times to discuss his specials for the evening, as well as his choice for our wine. He was very attentive and made certain we had a delicious experience. Our waiter Ryan was amazing and also had a great sense of humor. Always a perfect meal at The Red Door.

The flavors were exceptional. We had meatballs that were soft and extremely tasty as was the tomato sauce that covered the meatballs. We also had delicious eggplant and fettuccini. Both cooked to perfection

We are so grateful to have chosen The Red Door for dinner. The food was excellent, fresh and delicious! Service and cocktails were perfect. Service was warm and friendly. Chefs came out to say hello and made our night extra special. Highly recommend!
