We went for a dance theme night. The crowd was great and the food was good, however the service was overwhelmed by the crowd. They provided freindly and accurate service, but we're slowed down by the volume of customers. ***** IMPORTANT ***** The restaurant did not have our reservation. They said this venue at the Rose did not use Opera Table. I even showed them the confirmation and the reservation in the application.

Do not make a reservation on here and expect them to honor it. Once you get there they will tell you they don't take any reservations

First and most importantly the new Rose at Dumfries needs major help. We have been there several times and have encountered a severely under trained staff. This past Friday was no exception. We got to the Sports Bar at our reserved time. They had NO IDEA what Open Table was or that people used it to book there. We had no reserved table waiting for us! Only able to get a table because we were there so early. The service was extremely slow, our waitress had no idea of the beers served( “ they have not printed a list yet”). We ordered nachos with ground beef. The server was irritated as we had to make him go back for salsa and guacamole which were supposed to come with. We didn’t dare ask him for the sour cream. The nachos came not with ground beef but a COLD shredded beef. We asked our waiter- her reply” that’s what you get”. We are returning this coming Friday to hear the band. We will eat beforehand and will get there early enough to place our own hand made “ reserved” signs on the tables needed. Wish us luck!

FAQs

The Rose, Playbook Sports Bar & Grill is open daily from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM. That makes it a good daytime spot for lunch, evening dinners, and late-night games or live shows. If you’re planning a holiday visit, it’s still a good idea to call ahead.

If you want the live-music, high-energy experience, go on Friday or Saturday nights when free shows draw a crowd. For a quieter visit and faster service, choose weekday evenings or arrive early before entertainment starts. Guests have reported busy theme nights where service got slowed by high volume, so timing matters if you prefer speed and a calmer atmosphere.

You can try calling ahead for seating or special requests, but don’t rely on online reservations through some apps. Guests reported that a reservation made through OpenTable wasn’t honored and staff said they didn’t use that system. To ensure your request is met, call the venue directly before arrival.

Lively and sports-focused, think game-day energy with TVs, upbeat crowds and regular live entertainment on weekends. Guests reported a great crowd during themed dance nights and free shows on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect a casual, upbeat atmosphere that can get noisy and busy during peak entertainment times.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday nights during free live entertainment and themed events. Quietest: weekday afternoons and early evenings before shows begin. Guests said weekend shows produced a packed crowd and stressed service, so choose weekdays or early arrival for a calmer experience.

There’s no mention of a formal waiting list; guests report walk-in crowding during theme nights and live shows and that reservations via some booking apps weren’t honored. Expect possible waits during Friday/Saturday entertainment, arriving early or calling ahead is recommended for peak nights.

Generally yes for casual family meals, the menu centers on approachable comfort foods like wings, nachos, burgers and ribs, and daytime hours make it family-accessible. However, weekend nights feature loud live entertainment and a busy crowd, which may not suit very young children. Call ahead to check seating and timing if you’re bringing kids.

The venue lists itself as open daily from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM, which suggests regular daily operations including holidays. Because holiday hours can vary, it’s a good idea to call ahead to confirm specific public-holiday openings or special hours.

Yes, for a casual, lively date night this is a solid pick, especially if you enjoy sports, live music and a fun crowd. The Playbook Sports Bar + Grill offers a sports-bar menu (wings, nachos, burgers, ribs) and free live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, making it lively and entertaining. Note guests report busy, noisy nights and occasional slow service, so consider an earlier seating or a weeknight if you prefer a quieter evening.

Portions are presented as generous, sports-bar style fare meant to satisfy big appetites. The owner’s description highlights wings, nachos, burgers and ribs and says options “take even the biggest appetites to the goal line.” If you need exact portion sizes or want to share appetizers, call ahead, the menu details aren’t published here.

If you want live entertainment and a party atmosphere, Friday or Saturday is best, the venue features free shows those nights. If you prefer a quieter meal and faster service, pick a weekday or arrive early before the weekend entertainment starts.

Business casual is the stated dress code. That fits the casual sports-bar vibe while keeping things tidy for evening entertainment and resort guests.
