Food was good. Service was not. It was a Monday night, so who would have thought that we would need to look for our waitress, not once, but twice? She was friendly enough, but not very attentive.

Great food but very poor service. Seemed like they only had two servers for the entire restaurant. Took forever to get drinks and main dish was very slow. Great food, however

I would not go back to this place on the weekends. The kitchen is not prepared to handle full capacity patrons. Our order took over an hour to showed up in our table. I ordered the catch of the day which was Halibut and they served me Salmon. Neither The manager nor our server said anything about it...did i mentioned that Salmon was not in the menu...!!! The burger was just ok, the hush puppies a disaster! The rice just ok as well. The only dish worth mentioning as good was the chicken and the drinks are very good. The noise level was so bad that you could not hear the person seating in front of you. Acoustically this place needs a lot of help. I would recommend this place weekday for breakfast and maybe lunch. I will not recommend this place at all for dinner. But if you go be prepared to be disappointed...

We hadn’t been since the remodel a few years back. We loved the live music our waitress was excellent. She really seemed attentive when we requested some specific dietary requirements for my husband. Will definitely go back and thought the prices were pretty reasonable: I recommend giving it a try

I've been to The Roxy several times for drinks and appetizers and really enjoyed it. My dad was in town from NYC so my husband and I thought we would take my dad there and try their dinner menu. The dinner menu is limited which is fine but it is really limited if you have a gluten intolerance which my husband does. We found our waitress to be somewhat unprofessional. My dad ordered the hushpuppies as an appetizer and did not like them. He mentioned to the server that he didn't like them and asked that she take the plate away. She rolled her eyes. He didn't ask her to have them re-done or to them removed from the bill so her eye rolling wasn't warranted. The server also seemed to be rushing us which was not appreciated especially given we had an early reservation and the restaurant wasn't crowded. All and all it was not an enjoyable evening and I should have picked another place for my dad's first dinner in Encinitas. PS-My husband had a reaction to the steak he ate so it must have had some cross contamination with gluten.

The food was very good. I recommend the charcuterie board. The mussels were a little too spicy, but good. The entertainment was okay but too much noise to allow conversation at the table. Go for the entertainment and food NOT for a conversation during diner.

FAQs

Yes, The Roxy is a great pick for date night. The restored 1920s ambiance, classic cocktails and live music six nights a week create a lively, romantic setting. The menu focuses on shareable plates and elevated comfort food, so you can order a few small plates and a cocktail to linger over. Dress is casual, and the mood balances relaxed and festive, ideal for a fun, music-forward evening out in Encinitas.

Portions vary by dish, there are both share plates and hearty mains. The menu explicitly lists share plates (like Ahi Carpaccio and Potato Fritters) meant for sharing, plus substantial entrées such as 8oz burgers (The Roxy Burger, Wrangler Western Cheeseburger) and entrees like Steak Frites and Short Rib Ragu. Expect family-style plates for starters and full-sized mains for entrees, so you can mix sharing plates and individual dishes.

Family-friendly: yes, guests mention enjoying Sunday brunch with family, and the menu includes brunch-friendly options (waffles, eggs, burgers) that work well for groups and families. Accessible seating: not specified in the provided information, so call ahead if you need accessible seating or accommodations to be sure.

For a lively music-driven night out, visit during evening hours when live music plays six nights a week; for a relaxed, family-friendly option, weekend brunch (including Sunday) is popular and features live music. If you prefer something quieter, aim for midweek lunch or earlier dinner times on Tue–Wed when hours are shorter.

The Roxy offers a restored 1920s downtown Encinitas vibe with classic cocktails, live music and a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere. It balances energetic nights with live music and relaxed daytime brunches, guests describe it as a lovely spot and praise the live music.

Casual dress, The Roxy lists its dress code as Casual Dress, so come comfortable but presentable for a relaxed, music-friendly evening or weekend brunch.

The listing doesn’t detail a formal policy for advance requests, but the restaurant is casual and community-focused, for seating preferences, accessibility needs, dietary requests or special occasions, it’s best to call ahead so staff can confirm accommodations. There’s no private-dining option, so large-group logistics should be discussed in advance.

Yes, families do dine at The Roxy, and guests mention enjoying Sunday brunch with family. The brunch menu includes kid-accessible items (waffles, eggs, breakfast sandwich, fruit cup), though there’s no explicit kids menu listed. For younger children, an earlier seating is a good idea.

Busiest: evenings with live music and weekend brunches (guests note a popular Sunday brunch). Quietest: likely weekday lunches and early week evenings (Tue–Wed) when hours are shorter. If you want a livelier night, pick a live-music evening; for a calmer meal, aim for midweek daytime.

It depends on your goal: go on the weekend (especially Sunday) for a lively brunch with live music and a family-friendly vibe; go on an evening any night with live music for a date-night energy. If you prefer quieter dining, midweek (Tue–Wed) is your best bet.
