What was once a rowdy sailor’s drinking den has been transformed into a civilised gastro pub complete with a separate and impressive function and convention facility that can cater for up to 200 guests. This iconic South Bank hotel was constructed in 1864 and has developed a reputation as a lamb lover’s paradise. Our classic pub style menu boasts mouth watering dishes for all dining tastes. With three distinct dining areas plus function rooms, The Ship Inn is the perfect location for casual dining, lazy alfresco lunches, functions and events. We don’t have poker machines, we don’t have TV’s and we don’t have TAB. We are a true gastro pub with a traditional atmosphere in a prime South Bank location. We both ordered the prawn pasta... at $44 it was slightly overpriced, But it did taste fantastic.

Had an amazing time, sharing a night of amazing food with my fiancé, mum and 3 yr old. Although it was wet, we sat outside and the heating was amazing. After dinner we had a wonderful time taking a stroll over the bridge, and checking out Southbank.

The outdoor tables provide a relaxed, comfortable setting with excellent service. We’d like more gluten-free options (gfo) on the menu but the food was delicious - as it was a few months earlier.

Very well taken care of as a larger group on Friday night for a farewell. Meals came out together, food hot with nice flavours. Friendly and engaging staff that are very welcoming.

I drive a mini-bus for a GC retirement village, and often take my group to the Ship-Inn on our excursion days. Everyone loves coming to this venue after their ferry ride and walk through Southbank. The staff is friendly and very accomodating, and it's good to see that over the last couple of years we still see the same faces - it seems, that they enjoy their job! Being a large group of 18-20 people, we mostly get a long table outside; on occasions our orders were taken outside, but it was often easier fro everyone to go to the bar, and order and pay at the same time. The food is always lovely, my personal favourite is the Chicken Bao Buns. And here, I'd just like to leave one suggestion/constructive criticism: it would be great for the menu to include a few more smaller meals, ie. Senior Meals/Portions. For one, elderlies often don't eat that much, and also it would make it more affordable for people on a pension.

We dined outside, hotel has more of a restaurant feel than a pub, so nice atmosphere friendly service from the wait staff, would recommend as a cut above pub food

Great place to meet up with friends, good menu, reasonable prices, all meals had good serving sizes, were well presented, well cooked and from all accounts tasted great. Wide selection of well priced drinks. Can sit indoors or outdoors.
