Not our first visit by any means, but if there’s a better place to eat fish in East Anglia I’d like to know about it. Grilled herring, brill and lobster, all exceptionally well-cooked and beautifully served. The wait staff were also, as ever, superb. Bravo!

My husband I visited for the first time it was our 25th wedding anniversary and our experience did not disappoint. The service was excellent. Everybody was really friendly and very efficient without being intrusive. We were given a glass of fizz to begin the celebrations , which was really unexpected but very thoughtful. The food was absolutely fantastic ! My husband had scallops and I had crab to start and then both of us had monkfish for main course. I could definitely say that it was the best monk fish that either of us have ever had at any restaurant. I had the rich and indulgent chocolate mousse and my husband had plum galette for dessert which were again both superb. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos because we were visiting for the weekend but had forgotten my phone charger ! The staff very kindly charged it for me while we were eating which was definitely going above and beyond ! We’ve been fortunate enough to eat at several well known Michelin star restaurants and I would definitely say that the food we had at The Suffolk was deserving of a place on one of their menus. I would recommend it to anyone!

A little disappointing on this visit . I am a big fan and have been multiple times but this one was underwhelming . Long wait time , no one asked if more drinks were needed , the monkfish was 6 bites . The biggest disappointment was the Sur-mertini , made with well-ice , it turned into a dilute mess of a drink . On the plus side , the snails were excellent , the herring starter really good and the fish of the day ( sea-bass ) beautifully cooked . We will be back because we want The Suffolk to succeed but a little more attention to detail would be most welcome

Excellent food and service. Restaurant atmosphere is a bit flat due to the lighting and general colour scheme and interior design needs a makeover. We shall return however.

The lunch we had was ok but not up to the usual standard. My wife ordered the lobster bisque which arrived luke warm and with no spoon and had to wait for a spoon. She then ordered the dressed crab with a minimal amount of bread to have with it. My oysters were delicious, but had to ask for Tabasco and were not given a proper oyster fork. The halibut was delicious, but was not hot. The potatoes I had with it were sauteed not boiled as I expecting, so were slightly tasteless. The hispi cabbage was delicious. I was just disappointed as this was our wedding anniversary and the table next to us were not happy with their main course of roast beef, as they told us in conversation.
