Everything was OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food, service and atmosphere were top notch as usual!
Service was top notch and the menu offered a great selection. Both meals that we ordered were solid, and good, but not outstanding. I had a hanger steak which was a bit underdone for my taste and it was slightly bland. Had a martini which had very little alcohol... but was iced perfectly. Would we go back, definitely. Love the vibe and the view.
The food was excellent, the location is wonderful. The service was good. Immediate reception with a great attitude, our server was very kind.
However, the serving and ordering were very time-consuming. Greeted by our Server, brought waters, took orders for a very long time to receive. We finally were able to order some appetizers and then our food. We ordered the Mimosa souvenir glass and we were disappointed as it took forever to get a refill... yet we seated next to a table that our server brought out CARAFES for them. In my opinion, someone should be walking around more often to see if we needed a refill. our other drinks took very long to fill.
Again, overall was good.
Lydia, I definitely appreciate your feedback. I want to apologize that our service was slow. We hope you give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves!
The staff at this location are phenomenal! From the chief to the GM to the waiter to the bus staff - almost every one of them go above and beyond.
This was our fourth visit to Union Kitchen. It had been a while since we last visited and after our dinner we wondered why we hadn't been back sooner. We invited friends from another part of town and they loved it! The hostess sat us at a table with views of several tv's (the Astros and college football was on). Only negative of our entire experience is the chairs. They are so uncomfortable! Please consider getting new chairs. The backs are awkward and the seats are hard. Our server was excellent and she had a shadow so they were both extra attentive. We started with lobster potstickers and my fave fried asparagus with crab and shrimp. Both excellent and enough to feed 4 of us with some left over. For dinner we had 4 different entrees - chicken lightly pan fried with capers, mushrooms, artichokes and a light cream sauce with fettuccine. It was so good. Other entrees were the lobster grilled cheese served with tomato soup, the shrimp and grits and the demari (seafood like stew). Not one complaint. Everything was served hot, seasoned well and so tasty. We will be back to try other items as we had a hard time choosing what to order. Oh and thank you for the birthday beignets!
Outside on the patio was perfect. It is a great place to lunch on the water with umbrella shade. Will go again.
We went for our anniversary. The staff was so enthusiastic.
Our Server was very integral in what we ordered for appetizers and entree's. The GM (or Manager) was very proud of his smoked old fashioned and came over to get my opinion and walked me through their process.
After all of that, as we were handed the check, we were also handed a card that was hand signed from the staff.
We loved it and thank you for making it special for us!
Derek was my server and he was wonderful. Making delicious recommendations! I will be visiting again 👍🏼
We sat on the patio and we had 4 different shareable items. They were all very good. We wanted 5, but one wasn't available. Still we enjoyed the others.
Service was good, but they were very busy. Even with that, our server stopped by each time she passed our table.
Just wish I had room for dessert.
We used Open Table to make an outdoor reservation for 2 15 minutes befit our arrival. We were seated promptly and requested the table be cleaned. It was Cleaned immediately and our knowledgeable waitress was attentive. We ordered 2 appetizers to share: fried asparagus with garlic shrimp and sausage balls wrapped in bacon, both delicious. We shared a chopped salad and it arrived already split. We chose the red house bottle of wine on promotion “ wine Wednesday”, very good! We look forward to our next visit!
I would definitely go again! The service and food were amazing!
I had high expectations from this place since I live in Houston and have been to the location in the Heights and it’s been good. The service was awful. We sat in the sun first of all and to move to a more shaded spot because for one it’s hot and two my friend is pregnant and we didn’t want her to get over heated. We bought the souvenir mimosa cup because we wanted a fair share of mimosas and we couldn’t get service or drinks, we didn’t get silverware, our plates were so empty when we got our food. At their prices they definitely skimp you on food. The food isn’t great but it’s not horrible. Best thing we had were some Nutella donut things. We never got to move sections and when it was time to leave they were like oh we never moved you and tried to make up for it by giving us dessert when we were just ready to leave. We had to ask for our check 3 times. Mind you this place was not very busy. I had fun because we were with our friends but I definitely would not go back or recommend it to my friends.
Made reservations ahead of time since it was a Saturday night & Covid. At check-in we inquired to sit outside since the weather was amazing. The gentleman seating us snarkily told us that there were no tables available & that we should have booked a table specifically for outside. He lead us to our table in the dinning room. Once seated we scanned the QR code for the menu - 8 menus to navigate. Luckily there was a wine & cocktail menu but nothing for the beer or spirits. Upon ordering our cocktails we were told the bar was out of Jack Daniels so my husband had to walk over to the bar to see the spirits because the waitress was not familiar with the offerings. Our friends had to also get up 2 times to figure out their spirits for cocktails as the bourbon they requested was also not available. We attempted to order the Voodoo Balls as an appetizer and was told that the item was not available. Our food was fair at best. I ordered the scallops, which were good but the risotto was puffy rice. Very disappointed and I can honestly say that I would not return.
A total lackluster experience. A cute place, in a nice location with a great view of the lake. The server took about 10 minutes to greet us, and after she took our cocktail order, it took another 10 minutes to receive those. Thankfully the server came back around and asked if she could bring us waters, which she did fairly quickly. The server seemed like she didn’t want to be there, and that she was bothered by having to serve us. We had asked if there was a happy hour going on, which said abruptly said “No,” not that we had missed it, or that it was at the bar. Just “no.” Which left me confused because according tot he social media pages (FB & Instagram), there was a daily happy hour. I didn’t argue with her, so I ordered a Midnight Manhattan, which was a regular ol’ Manhattan, nothing special about it (no coffee infused liquor or soaked cherry). My sister ordered a Blackberry Basil Paloma which had claimed to have fresh squeezed grapefruit (which taste more like off the shelf pink grapefruit juice and super high in sugar) and there no basil whatsoever. Overall a truly disappointing experience, and will mostly never go back.
We were eating brunch on Saturday morning. The food was okay, not as good as before the pandemic. The waitress was distracted so she kept forgetting to get us items. She kept apologizing which I didn’t appreciate. This is one of our favorite restaurants so we will definitely be back, hopefully with a better waitress next time.
Food was delicious. Service was very slow! We literally waited over 20 something minutes for our drinks. My husband finally went and inquired about our drinks. They finally brought them out and apologized. Told us they would be very vigilant in taking care of us the rest of the meal. They did not. The food was delicious. Service was lackluster.
Freddie our server was outstanding. Our food was perfect. The only complaint was we made a reservation through open table for outside seating and when we got there we were told “oh you shouldn’t have been able to make one for outside we book those a week in advance”. There were empty tables outside the entire time we ate.
Food was great, service was hit or miss. The management was amazing but everyone seems to be running around like The building is on fire. Several times we watched the hostess nearly knock people over because she was walking so fast. We sat right next to the kitchen and there was a lot of commotion in that area. we will for sure be back, mostly because of the Management's service and the food.
Every time we are here both the food and staff are wonderful!
Nina is a great waitress. Anthony is the BEST GM. Rob is a hoot!
Had not been to Union Kitchen in a while. It was great. Loved the Fish and Chips. My husband enjoyed his burger as well. All in all, great.
The food and service were fantastic. We sat on the patio overlooking the water. The noise level was very high such that my partner and I had difficulty hearing each other. Otherwise, a great experience.
Hostesses were nice and attentive. Seated immediately with reservation. Appetizers were good. Over priced entrees for quantity. Waitress admitted she never offered us the free bread which would have been excellently paired with the entrees we ordered. When we did ask about the bread we found out they were sold out when the restaurant was open for another 2 hours after the completion of our meal. We are likely to never return.
Everything was awesome. Food, service, ambiance, all of it! Highly recommend eating here.
Rob, the manager, is truly passionate about his work in food service and made our experience even better. Highly recommend this venue of Union Kitchen... great food and atmosphere and service.
Overall good experience. I took a long time to get food out. But we did have a large group. But overall good experience
Requested a lake view table, got seated around the corner with lake hardly in sight. They first attempted to seat us on the patio that did not include a lake view at all. Then got seated directly under a speaker which was blasting music to the point we had to yell to understand each other. Not to mention the sun was shining directly on us with no covering at all. Kindly asked to have the music turned down and didn’t hear back. Our server was very kind and food was great. Would come back but would not want to be seated where we did.
Nay, I want to apologize that we did not get you the table you desired. On your next visit please give me a call at 832-653-7278 or you can email me at gm.cypress@theunionkitchen and I will personally make sure we get you that table. Welcomed greetings from hostess wonderful wait staff. Great service and the food was great! Cooked fresh served hot and delicious! Steaks cooked to order, fish batter perfect, all the sides were wonderful! Very happy experience!
Wow this was a great place. The food was amazing and service was top notch. The only complaint was we were seated by the door going to patio and every time the door was opened the wind blew in and heat blew in. It was just distracting So not much to complain about. The baked goat cheese with bacon relish served with pita was so delicious that could have been my entree. The filet medallions were so tender they literally melted in your mouth. Almost no chewing needed. Go there it is great!
Service was poor, food was terrible and drinks were warm. I’ve been to the memorial city location many times and it was great, I don’t know why people rave about this location. Maybe it was an “off” night for them but it wasn’t even busy. Manager didn’t bother coming over to acknowledge the experience.

Met some friends there for dinner. The service was great! Food was great as well. The manager was awesome and checked on us several times. Our waiter was good and very attentive.
We went to The Union Kitchen per an online suggestion for our 21st anniversary. David took excellent care of us and made sure we knew our drink choices and how good they were. He went on to deliver exceptional service and when we mentioned why we were there.
He said he had something for us and returned with a beautiful offering of champagne and beignets to toast our special day. He made the night perfect. We will be back!
We were invited back and the restaurant did really step up to made our dinner a wonderful experience. The food was very good and the service was exceptional. The GM shows that he cares about the customers and that is very appreciated. We shall return.

Love this place
the voodoo balls were delicious and the ambiance was nice. We were able to social distance and sit outside with a lovely view of the lake.
We had a new waitress and she did a wonderful job meeting our needs. The Voodoo Balls appetizer was delicious as usual. I enjoyed my split Texas Cobb salad but was not crazy about the Caprese Chicken Sandwich (also split) as it did not seem to have much flavor. My martini was perfect and great job on the blue cheese olives! My niece had the lobster grilled cheese and loved it! I will keep coming back for more!
Sara, Thank you for the great review! My name is Anthony Messina. I am the General Manager of The Union Kitchen Towne Lake. Please let me know the next time you are in I would love to get your opinion. Sincerely, Anthony Messina
Sat at bar, good experience.
I love eating here. It was a rainy day and there weren’t many people there, but our service was a little slow though. It took 30 mins to get a drink anytime we ordered one. I know that servers are staying home more due to unemployment benefits, but this was the one thing that really bugged me and my family.
Wonderful and up beat experience! Great service by a manager! Very funny!
