• la bomba $32 celebrating día de los muertos at @torochicago 💀🌼 stopped by toro chicago inside @fairmontchicago for their día de los muertos dinner experience, bringing together latin-inspired food, cocktails, colorful décor, and traditions surrounding the holiday. we started with the flamed salmon roll, served with latin-inspired sauces, before moving onto the larger dishes. the 36 oz prime tomahawk was definitely the centerpiece of our dinner 🥩 served with bone marrow butter and finished with a mezcal flambé, the steak was flamed and carved tableside, making for a pretty cool presentation 🔥 we also tried the zarandeado, featuring branzino as the catch of the day, bringing some seafood into the mix alongside the steak. and the tableside experience didn’t stop there. for dessert, we had la bomba, a chocolate half-sphere dramatically dropped onto the table, breaking open to reveal housemade ice cream, chocolate, and cookies 🍫 definitely a fun way to end the meal. brings together flavors inspired by mexico, colombia, brazil, venezuela, and beyond. between the food, tableside presentations, and día de los muertos decorations, it made for a festive evening in downtown chicago 💀🌼 hosted by @torochicago × @fairmontchicago 📍 200 n columbus dr, chicago, il 60601 #kalvineats🇺🇸chicago #ToroChicago #ChefRichardSandoval #FairmontChicago chicago eats • día de los muertos chicago • latin food chicago • chicago restaurants • chicago date night

An excellent restaurant with outstanding food, wonderful ambiance, and exceptional service. We celebrated my husband’s birthday while visiting Chicago, away from our hometown, and the experience was a great success. The staff made us feel welcome and helped make his special day even more memorable. We truly enjoyed every moment and would happily return. Highly recommended!

Terrible service with the bartenders. We were being rushed to order food bc the kitchen was closing and we were barely serviced at the bar and the bartenders weren’t friendly to us
Toro by Chef Richard Sandoval – ChicagoResponded 3 days ago
Hello Leslie, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re sorry your visit was less than amazing. Feeling rushed to order and not getting attentive, friendly service at the bar is not the experience we want any guest to have. Prix fix offering was just OK . Corn empanadas as appetizer were delicious. Short rib entree was average. Churros were disappointing mixed texture and cold! Margarita was excellent. Price was reasonable but the food was not a good reflection of what Toro can offer!

The overall ambiance was just okay. The service was quite choppy and not succinct. The server did not recommend any items even though it was stated that this was the first time eating at Toro for several of the diners.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry your visit to Toro didn’t live up to expectations, especially since it was the first time for several members of your party. A first visit should feel welcoming and well guided, and our team should have taken the time to walk you through the menu and share a few favorites. We also regret that the pacing of service felt uneven. We value your opinion and always look for ways to improve. We hope you will give us another chance to host you- our team is confident that next time we will exceed your expectations!

Made reservations for (2) at 12:45. It was Not busy. Many open tables yet our service was not at the quality we had imagined. Our server was not attentive to us, did not follow up to see how our order was. We did observe she was the only server at the time so we tried to give grace. However, two times she went past us to check in on another 2 tables, making us not feel welcomed or cared for. We quickly ate and asked for the check to leave. Overall, the drinks were good and the food was well. Just disappointed of the service.
Toro by Chef Richard Sandoval – ChicagoResponded 3 days ago
Hello Frank, thank you for sharing and bringing this to our attention. While we are glad the food and drinks hit the mark, we apologize for the lack of attentive service by your server. Please rest assured that we are using this feedback to make improvements where necessary, as customer satisfaction is at the heart of what we do at Toro. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with a significantly improved experience that truly reflects the quality and service we strive to offer.

Poor service. Plates being "auctioned" off at the table. Wrong dishes served. Waiter not attentive at all. Lamb was very tough to even cut through. Very disappointing.
