The Waiters and bartenders were great but the food and the drinks were pretty average. Love the ambience but not sure I would recommend it. I don’t like when restaurants have pictures of dishes or drinks they no longer serve on their menu.

Villon is the go to destination when it's theatre night 🎭 Staff is always superior (our hostess for the evening was lovely, our server James W was attentive and unobtrusive). Food is always unique and delicious. The ambiance in the property is always charming. Unfortunately, stepping out into the Market Street scene can be challenging. It's important we support our local businesses! Here's to a city administration that can help keep Market Street comfortable and safe!

What a delightful spot! Terrific bar, excellent and knowledgeable servers, beautiful presentation. So happy to have another option near the Opera House. The three-course menu is more than ample. We started with the artichoke soup - velvety and fantastic, and the asparagus/parmesan custard - a truly brilliant dish. Those were preceded by terrific cocktails and a delightful amuse bouche from the chef. However, the main courses were less successful - the pork katsu was a huge portion, but not a ton of flavor in either the pork or the bland slaw accompanying it. The sea bream was also not terribly rewarding, surrounded by bitter broccolini and bitter slices of kumquats, while the rice "cakes" were actually leaden gnocchi-like orbs. Flavor profile there was bitter, mixed with bland. The third in our party ordered the chicken which looked terrific and which he enjoyed - I'll try that next time. And all was forgiven with dessert - the chocolate "custard" was really squares of something akin to fondant, slathered in whipped honey with crumbles of coffee granite. We should have stopped at half but unfortunately we couldn't, both of us ate our enormous portions. My partner ordered the baked Alaska (a small cheat, as it did not arrive flaming, but instead covered with a well-set brulee'd meringue) - but the flavors were also outstanding. Getting here from Civic Center (and back to the Opera House) is a challenge, we suggest NOT walking down McAllister from City Hall, but instead navigate the walkway between the Asian Art Museum and the library, then a short cross over to McAllister and the entrance. That way you avoid what appears to be the corner where a throng of drug users congregate. You may still be accosted by a raving maniac in the plaza (we were) - just keep walking. OR, you can drive up to the entrance where they have valet parking, a good option!

Excellent meal, good service - consistently an excellent meal, with subtle flavoring and complex but delicious dishes. The food generally is light, which is ideal before a show at one of the nearby theatres. The service was good, though seemed a little rushed. Ambiance is fine, a nice setting but crowded dining room. Would definitely go again.
