It's been a couple of years since I've been to Vintage House. I always remembered it being a great experience with incredible service and food. Worth the higher pricing. The meal last night didn't deliver what I had hoped. It wasn't a busy night and the waitstaff was very pleasant but she was covering all tables, it seemed, so it was slow. The food took a really long time, though we were enjoying the conversation (but we noticed). The vegetables came out lukewarm. The flavor of everything was fine just not what I expect from $45-50 plates. There are a lot of good restaurants in Hickory now so Vintage House needs to be at a different level to drive the clientele that it takes to support the cost.

We love going to Vintage House for my birthday! On Wednesdays they also have 1/2 price bottles of wine and it’s a great time to try a nicer wine! The food was wonderful!

First time visiting The Vintage House in Hickory. We celebrated an anniversary and enjoyed multiple courses including wine, appetizers, salads, main courses, desserts, and champagne. Everything from the Moscato to the crab cakes and calamari to the papparadelli and filet, to the profiteroles were spectacular. And our waitress was professional, informative, and thorough. We recommend it highly.

The yeast bread, the salad, and the crab stuffed trout were excellent. I have not had better food anywhere.

We enjoy being able to make reservations. The area where we sat was quiet and easy to hear the conversation at our table. Prices were fairly high but overall nice experience.

FAQs

Yes, Vintage House is a popular choice for date night and special occasions. Guests consistently praise the romantic, historic setting, white-tablecloth service, attentive staff, and carefully plated courses. Expect an intimate, casual‑elegant atmosphere ideal for anniversaries or quiet dinners; note some areas near the bar can be louder, so request a quiet nook or booth when booking. Reservations are recommended for prime seating.

Portions are generally moderate to generous for a fine‑dining bistro, many guests say entrees are satisfying though some feel portions are smaller than expected for the price. A number of guests took food home, while others noted smaller plated sides on occasion. If you’re planning to share or are especially hungry, consider starting with a hearty appetizer or asking your server about portion size.

Dinner service is offered most evenings. According to the restaurant, hours are Monday–Thursday 5:00 pm–9:00 pm, and Friday–Saturday 5:00 pm–10:00 pm. Guests frequently mention evening and special‑event service, so check with the restaurant for holiday hours or special menus.

For a quieter, more relaxed experience pick an earlier dinner or a weekday midweek seating; guests frequently report early seatings are peaceful. If you want specials and a lively vibe, Wednesdays have half‑price bottles of wine. Avoid major holiday nights, prom, or Valentine’s if you prefer a low‑noise table, those evenings can be busy and louder.

The Vintage House is laid out like a historic home with multiple small dining rooms, booths, and a bar area, you’ll find intimate nooks, half‑circle booths, upstairs and downstairs dining rooms, and a cozy bar. Some guests prefer booths or first‑floor rooms for privacy; note the bar area can be livelier and tables near it may be noisier.

Warm, classic, and romantic, guests describe a charming historic house atmosphere with white‑tablecloth service, dim lighting, and an emphasis on conversation. Many guests call it elegant yet unpretentious, perfect for date night or celebrations. A few guests noted occasional loud tables or chilly rooms, so request a preferred table when you book.

Smart casual is the recommended dress code. The restaurant lists 'Smart Casual, ' and guests typically dine in polished, date‑night attire, think dresses, collared shirts, or nice tops. The atmosphere leans toward elevated dining, so dressing a bit up is appropriate.

Guests commonly pay with credit cards, several reviews mention card charges and receipts. A few guests noted a 3% credit card fee being added on some bills, so if you prefer cash or want clarification about fees, call the restaurant ahead of your visit to confirm accepted payment methods and any surcharges.

Yes, staff routinely accommodate celebration requests and special touches. Guests mention bringing cakes ahead of time, complimentary surprise desserts for birthdays, and the kitchen preparing allergy‑friendly or special desserts. Call ahead to request seating, celebrate an occasion, or discuss allergies so the team can prepare and ensure a smooth experience.

Moderately, families and birthday parties do dine here, and guests sometimes bring teens. Vintage House is focused more on fine‑dining plates than a kids’ menu, so it’s best for older children who can enjoy a quieter, upscale setting. For younger kids consider an early seating and call ahead to discuss menu flexibility.

The restaurant accepts reservations and can be very busy on holidays, prom nights, and special events; guests report long waits or slow service on some busy evenings. Reservations are recommended, and during peak times you may encounter delays even with a booking, if time is tight, call ahead the day of your reservation to confirm timing and request a preferred table.

Busiest: holidays (Valentine’s, New Year’s, Mother’s Day), prom nights, and weekend evenings, guests report sold‑out or very busy service then. Quietest: earlier weekday seatings and some midweek nights; early 5:00–6:30 pm reservations are often calmer. Wednesdays can be lively due to wine specials, so pick your night based on whether you want a quieter or more festive experience.

For deals and a fun evening, Wednesday is a standout, guests mention half‑price bottles of wine on that night. For a quieter, intimate experience pick a weekday early seating (Mon–Thu early). Weekends are lovely but busier, so reserve ahead if you plan a Saturday date or holiday celebration.

Sometimes, guests report the Vintage House runs special holiday menus/events (Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day), so the restaurant does open for select holidays. Holiday hours vary, so call the restaurant or check their announcements before booking for a specific public holiday.

Yes, guests reference a patio and pleasant views that add to the experience, so outdoor seating or a patio area appears to be available. If outdoor dining is important, call ahead to confirm availability, weather policies, and whether patio seating can be requested with your reservation.
