Right in the middle of central Brighton, Warung Tujuh restaurant is a hit with hometown hipsters and daytrippers alike. Tucked away on Pool Valley only minutes from the beach, this bright and colourful restaurant is named after 'warungs', the roadside food stalls in Indonesia, and the owners here have worked hard to recreate a unique and friendly roadside vibe. ’Tujuh’ means the lucky number seven – also the address. Warung Tujuh is ideal for parties and group get-togethers, as this space has a feel-good factor and the food is healthy and wholesome. Authentic Indonesian cuisine is what Warung Tujuh is all about, incorporating flavours from across the thousands of Indonesian islands. The menu includes regional recipes from the islands of Indonesia, and aromatic favourites include the sate - marinated meat, seafood and vegetable skewers served with peanut sauce - and the gule kambing which is lamb stew with coconut milk, chillies, spices and candlenuts.

Booked Warung Tujuh for our anniversary weekend on strength of Trip Advisor reviews. Chose an Indonesian restaurant as hadn't tried such natinality before. Sad to say restaurant is shutting down within the week. We chose a lamb and chicken dish which weren't actually very flavoursome and so really this was a disappointment. Saying this the staff were lovely and friendly and we felt sorry for them having to seek new jobs.

My wife and I discovered this hidden jewel a couple of years ago. We have come back after a hiatus and still find the restaurant providing good food and ambiance for good value. Highly recommended!

Took my friend to this restaurant after reading good reviews, glad that I took the time as we may have easily passed the restaurant by as the exterior is a little shabby and tired looking. We had the set lunch menu which you could have for two or three courses at a comparable price to other restaurants in the area, we both had the sate which was tasty if a little on the small portion size, I had the Nasi Goreng and my friend the noodle version, both were authentic tasting and reminded me of the gorgeous food I had tasted when I visited bali, I was impressed that when my friend asked if her choice was very spicy the waiter said the spices could be adjusted to her tastes and she was very happy with her choice. The ambiance could be improved with more comfortable chairs annd a little more attention to the decor, we ate on the ground floor so the other floors may have been better. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely restaurant didnt realise it was over 3 floors when first arrived so bigger than we thought. Very nice waiters, advised us on dishes really helpful.

It's a very small restaurant, only four or five tables, and not particularly chic, but the food was excellent and the staff very attentive. All the dishes we ordered were of particularly high standard, there was really nothing to fault. The flavours were excellent, the vegetables that came with my dish were perfectly cooked with a little crunch but not too much, the curries were subtle and complex with the spices. If you like Indonesian food, we really recommend you go!

The sate platter was very tasty and we really enjoyed the seabream fillet dish. We also had the beef randang sharing platter: all components were great except the beef was a little dry. Also we'd ordered a jug of pimms, which was fine, until the table next to us received an obviously much larger jug than ours. Staff were friendly and the restaurant itself was quaint. Would still recommend to friends to try as it's very different cuisine to the standard ones you get in the area but undecided if we would go back.
