I prefer the lunch menu to the dinner offerings, and would have preferred to go with one of my favorite White Dog lunch entrees. My guests and I all chose the steak special, which, at $49, seemed steeply-priced. We shared an oyster appetizer, and the West Coast oysters were TINY. The calamari was excellent. The service was great, and I love the ambience. So, a mixed review.
Decor is adorable and I loved my burger with truffle fries

I made the reservation for a party of seven. Four people canceled last minute because of the weather. Changing from 7 to 3 was not a problem at all for the hostess. Very nice.
Had a great dinner with friends at White Dog. The food was excellent and the services was great. We stuck around talking after dinner over coffee and they never rushed us out.
It is consistently a great place to have dinner. The bar atmosphere is cool and plan to try sitting at the bar the next time my husband and I go back.
Went here for my birthday. It was s really nice night. The waiter (Justin?) did an awesome job. He was very attentive and engaging. The food was well done. Desserts weren’t our favorites but we’re still well made and presented well.
The kitchen blew it twice yesterday when I met a friend at The White Dog Haverford for lunch. I ordered a Cesar salad with chicken. The chicken was tough and very dry. I asked to have the chicken removed from my salad and stated that I was fine to just eat the lettuce. The manager insisted on preparing me a fresh salad( without the chicken). My friend continued to eat her lunch. Over 10 minutes passed as I sat there. Another salad was eventually presented to me. It did not look appetizing in the least. It was almost all small pieces of lettuce, all white or noticeably lacking any green color, and smothered in grated cheese. I could not eat it, and thought, why spend $15 on something that taste so poorly? I stopped eating it, and when our server later returned to check on us, I asked him to remove my entree. Time passed again. The manager ( who was very warm and kind) presented me with another plate of greens, a side dish containing dressing, and a side dish with grated cheese. I think she wanted me to prepare my salad to my liking. But by this point, my friend and & I had been at The White Dog for 90 minutes, and I had no further interest in lunch ( and my friend had to get going). I declined the 3rd salad. What happened? Our reservation was for 11:45. The restaurant was not particularly busy ( it did get busy eventually), but the kitchen blew it twice, on the same customer ( me) who just wanted a good salad!
I always try to find an excuse to come to this place. Some times I don't but still go. That's how much I like White Dog! :)
Excellent as always. Can bring anyone here and know they will appreciate it.
Nice lunch. Reasonably priced. Avocado BLT was good. Bread was the best part. Friend had mushroom soup and mac n cheese. Everything was good, but nothing outstanding. Smaller than Wayne location. Adorable dog theme. Lunch for 2 was $35.
Great place. Worth coming back
Always enjoy lunch at White Dog in Haverford! I always have the cream of mushroom soup. I also tried the blackened shrimp tacos, which were yummy!
Not sure what the hype is all about. Went to the Haverford location.
The mussels were served luke warm, the service and attention was sub par and the prices are high.
While the chocolate mousse was great it’s not enough to warrant a return visit.
Pajama brunch on New Years Day was another triumph! The staff had an extra pep in their step as they strutted around in their Pjs and I haven’t ever had bad food or service yet. This is the best way to start the year and I only have 360ish days until I get to so it again!
New Years Eve. Traditionally, for my wife and me, an evening of disappointment when frequenting a restaurant, even restaurants of high distinction. Not so last evening. From the greeting by the hostesses to the last bite of dessert, White Dog Haverford was excellent! Our server showed enthusiasm and a high level of expertise in guiding us through our dinner. The kitchen staff put out an excellent meal, not too rushed and not too slow. The cost did not reflect the fact that this was a “high demand” evening. It was the same as usual. All in all, a great dining experience on New Year’s Eve. Where do I reserve for next year????😄
This is my second visit to this location. Fabulous food and atmosphere.
Had a great dinner with lively atmosphere for new year's eve. Would definitely go again for a special occasion.
We had a wonderful family dinner on New Year’s Eve!
This was our 2nd year doing so and it’s become a tradition!
Always a great time!
Wonderful and delicious. Perfect spot for our Birthdays gathering. Beautifully prepared food. Exciting, comfortable and fun. Wonderful service and caring. Special touches for the celebrants greatly appreciated. Our favorite White Dog!
Absolutely fantastic. Probably the best service we’ve ever had at any restaurant ever! No joke!
White Dog usually has the BEST burgers and fries but this time was disappointing. The burgers, while tasting delicious, were sloppily places on the buns so it was-very awkward, messy dinner. Also, the fries - usually to die for- were not crisp. But I’ll be back to test it again!
I have always loved White Dog Cafe. It used to have wonderful food. But the restaurant in Haverford is poor. Maybe all of them have deteriorated. I had the kale salad which consisted on no kale, a huge bowl of arugala, no kale, no raisins, no apples, and only a few almond slices and the dressing was watery and bland. The mushroom soup, which had previously been wonderful had no flavor, and the flat bread with onions, goat cheese, and balsamic was so sweet that two bites was all you could eat. The manager stopped over at our table and she was so amped up, she was practically yelling with a huge smile on her face. When she asked about our food, I tried to explain about the salad but she completely ignored me and told me I couldn't be right. White Dog...what a shame.
Perfect for a nice date night out! It’s a little loud so not quiet romantic, but great atmosphere and food!
You came recommended by friends who joined us for dinner. 6 people all together. We enjoyed the variety on the menu and we all were pretty happy with the food, the service and the overall experience. Great Stuff! Well worth a return visit!
Always a great time and wonderful food!
The White Dog has healthy & delicious food. The wait staff are fabulous. It you are a dog lover, the interior decor has beautiful paintings of different dog breeds. I am a frequent diner and feel very lucky to have such a great restaurant close to home. It's a very popular happy hour spot, so get there early!
Service wasn’t professional and not very attentive. Our drink order was ignored with asking three times before receiving. We were dining at 2pm so wasn’t because it was busy. The pork cutlet Reuben was only edible if you ate one component at a time. Some of the pork fried to shoe leather. The short rib sandwich on the other hand was great and dessert was delicious. Surprised at WD being not as great as usual.
They were extremely accommodating after we went to the wrong location. Good food, and cocktails!
Food was great!
Our server John was just terrific
Only issue was our table which had an unimpeded view of the bustle of the kitchen- would have preferred not to have this
The duck was incredible! and the desserts were memorable, too!!
My daughter and I arrived for a 5pm reservation on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was virtually empty. We ordered promptly as the restaurant began to fill. Our server was excellent but it took over an hour to receive our small portions of pasta. It was clearly not the fault of the server but it was far too long to wait.
The food was fresh and delicious. The service was deficient. They seemed to be using a multi-server team for each table, meaning you rarely saw the same server twice. We had to wait far too long for coffee and for a refill. They took forever to bring the toast that was supposed to come with the omelette. Service needs to improve.
Seven of us had Sunday Brunch at White Dog in Haverford, and we had a great time! We added someone to our reservation at the last minute and the restaurant was able to accommodate us - much appreciated. We had a round table in the back dining room that fit us perfectly. We'd never been to "this" White Dog, and were pleased to see that it carries through the best traditions of the Center City location - a series of small eclectic dining rooms with funky (but tasteful) decor that make you feel like you're in a bistro somewhere. The variety of dishes was excellent - some lunch, some breakfast, some definitely brunch-y. The bottomless Mimosas were great. The breakfast sandwich was particularly good - a slightly-spicy chicken sausage, eggs and some veggies with sauce on an excellent brioche bun. We gobbled up two orders of the top notch donuts as a first course and thus had no room for dessert, but the staff was happy to let us linger over coffee. Our waitress was great. Overall, a lovely morning, thanks to White Dog!
Reunion of coworkers
We were there for Sunday Brunch and were glad that we came early as the cafe filled up soon after. Mini servings of delicious breakfast cakes were served while we were awaiting our meal. Everyone enjoyed their waffles, pancake with apple compote, and omelets. Our wait person returned often to refill the coffee cups. All in all, everyone thought it was a great choice.
I am not happy drinking out of Mason jars. The music and the music level leave a lot to be desired.
Our waiter was excellent (Riely)
Our server was amazing and full of knowledge. She helped with any question and managed a food allergy with ease and made our dining experience worry free!
