Took awhile to finally get a reservation and now know why. My wife and I got the $48 each tasty menu which gave us a sample of most of the menu items that we wanted. Can’t wait to go back.
Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow. Get the tasting menu. Wow.
Always great and tasty!
Amazing food as always. Great service. Outstanding all around
Zahav came highly recommended by plenty of friends, so we decided to make a reservation (which was only possible two months in advance!) and commit to the long drive. It was well worth it. Loved the food and experience. My only real criticism is that it's a lot louder than I expected. That said, we shared a slew of delish small plates, and I enjoyed a really a nice fruity yet dry white wine to complement the meal. Will probably return sometime in the summer for a warm weather experience.
simply unique experience! weloved it and we'll definitely be back asap
I think it is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. On the few occasions I've been able to get a reservation I have enjoyed very much. I recommend Zahav for any occasion.
Every bite of our meal was delicious, and courses were extremely well-paced so that we could enjoy each course without any rush onto the next. The offerings are perfect for sharing, so between the four of us we got to sample a great many dishes. Can’t wait to return to Zahav!
Great experience! Awesome food!
The meal was extraordinary, unique, fun. We had the tasting menu, and were brought so many delightful and unique dishes, that though small, were quite filling. One of my best dining experiences ever.
Really enjoyed our delicious meal. I would definitely go back.
Awesome. Amazing food—melt in your mouth. Best food ever!!
Celebrate my husband birthday. Food was amazing. We did the taste of Zahav so much food and worth it.
After consistent hype from nearly everyone we know in Philly, and a serious scheduling conflict with any available reservations for several months, my husband and I finally got our shot at Zahav (and it's legendary lamb). We arrived early enough in the evening that the Chef's tasting (with the lamb) was still available and so with no hesitation we chose that over other menu options (a very modest price of ~$12 over the self-selected tasting menu (no lamb)). We ordered drinks and within minutes our table began to overflow with tasty treats of all varieties. Aspects of the meal are a sumptuous blur, but some of the highlight starters were the roasted tomato and carrot salad and the tahini hummus with to-die-for, fresh, still oven warm pita. Seemingly magically our empty plates disappeared and were replaced with new flavors and experiences, including a baked cheese that was so good we had to ask what it was twice because our taste buds overwhelmed any input to our brains from the ears the first time. Then came the lamb...tender and moist, rich, and full of flavor. It was offset with a baked rice that on it's own seemed dry and uninspired, but combined with the lamb it became a heavenly concoction that managed to maintain bits of crunchy texture while lovingly lapping up the juice/sauce/magic of the lamb and flavoring it with a new set of spices. When I told my husband that I was getting full, he looked at me with despair as he knew that he couldn't finish the generous portion of the main course alone. I asked for it to go and the only remnant I found the next day was the lovingly washed to-go container in the recycling bin. Lest you think this entire review is about the lamb (it's really good), the desserts arrived and with one bite of the Malabi Custard my husband and I both savored the experience for minutes; wordlessly acknowledging our good fortune. My husband also raved about the pear sorbet with celery shaved ice, but my mind and mouth belong to that custard.
Fantastic food, as always. Definitely on the pricey side, but a great spot for a treat/fancy night out. The food and service are unbeatable.
The most incredible food, and even better service. Cannot recommend enough
This was by far the best meal I have ever had. We went for my boyfriends birthday and they printed out a special menu that had happy birthday on it. We did the chefs tasting menu and it was sooo worth it. Everything that came out was fantastic and our sever peter was great!
Amazing food and service, so far the best restaurant around Philadelphia!
Amazing overall experience atmosphere, music and menu. Great dinner!
Especially after a two month wait, having a somewhat pleasant server should be the bare minimum. Our waitress turned our first night at Zahav into a disappointment. She didn’t listen, seemed annoyed by our presence, and was withdrawn. The food, the bus staff, and food runners were amazing and lovely! I wish one of them had been our main server. Considering how far out you make the reservation it would not be worth the gamble of going back. You might as well just go to any Stephen Starr restaurant in that case. One main issue was we wanted to order al a carte, but our waitress kept insisting we do the tasting. We only wanted three of the small plates, but she kept saying you have to do four and “that’s not how it works”. At the end of the meal my date asked if we could see the dessert and wine list. Instead of her saying yes, she said “well are you finished eating?” I said I’m still nibbling, but wanted to decide on wine or an after dinner drink. She said she’d bring the menus when we were done. When the bus staff came to clear our plates, we asked if they could let the waitress know we’re ready for our bill. The waitress came over surprised we wanted to leave, and she was actually much more pleasant and charming this time. If she’d put on this personality throughout our meal, I’d have had a great time. She offered us the dessert and wine choices, but we said no thank you. Then she told us two desserts were already included in the price of the tasting. We took them to go. I do think the tasting is a great price, but we didn’t want all of it. Maybe we’ll try it again after we’ve exhausted the other options in Philly.
We have been trying to get a weekend reservation for Zahav for the last last two years without success. We finally decided to take a weekday one which meant some creative planning with the kid’s extra curricular, catching the train in to the city, etc. It was absolutely worth it!! Our server Wolf was friendly, informative and attentive. In fact every staff member there was on top of their game. We ended up choosing the Chef’s tasting menu and while it’s supposedly small plates it’s a LOT of food. Can’t wait to go again and try other things on the menu.
amazing food and great experience will definitely be coming back!
Went and ordered the tasting menu. Each thing that came out was more delicious than the last when I didn’t even know that was possible! The service was incredible and made us feel extremely cared for. I can say without a doubt this was the best meal of my life.
Delicious, well seasoned small plates, meant for sharing. Exquisite pita and hummus to start. Unique flavors and combinations. Uneven pace of course presentation. Lively, energetic atmosphere, not a place for relaxed conversation.
Exquisite, exceptional and extraordinary ....from the service to the food to the ambience. Everybody goes out of their way to make us feel our experience is special. We’ve been to Zahav many many times before, and each visit is just as memorable. Outstanding and deservedly in the list of top 10 restaurants in US. Thank you to all at Zahav!!
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked it here. However it wasn’t as *amazing* as I thought it’d be, given all the hype. I tried their signature drink, the lemonana - that was very good, I love fresh mint. Their halloumi, fried cauliflower, and hummus were alll delish. My biggest let down was the eggplant entree. Honestly couldn’t eat it at all. I ate the chickpeas off the top and with the rice but the main part of the dish was not good.
The waitress was also a bit rude/ had an attitude? Don’t know what to think of that..
By far the best hummus I have ever consumed; it’s buttery, savory, creamy and just overall delicious. If you can get a reservation, go to Zahav because it is one of the best dining experiences you can have in the Philadelphia area.
Delicious, wonderful experience. Highly recommend
My first time there and was Such a a great experience. Well worth the price. Michael Solomonov was there which was even more exciting to watch him running around. A+++
Amazing dining experience. We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu and the Wine Pairing. Everything was very flavorful and paired well with the wines.
Michael was an incredible host and his lamb dish developed with Momofuko was mouth watering. Really warm server with great sense of humor made it an all star night.
Excellent as always!
Amazing experience with a unique take on cuisine. Everything was delicious - worth your while to enjoy the 'Taste of Zahav' menu.
Lovely! Loved our waitress and the food and the atmosphere. Try the Dark Maid cocktail! Yum!
Zahav was one of the best food experience we had. Went there for a casual dinner and never expected to receive such great quality food. It's a total gem and must must visit for the food, ambience and it's authenticity. Not to miss their Veal Kababs and Malabi Custard.
New Year’s Eve
It's the best restaurant in Philadelphia for a reason — Zahav's food, service, and entire atmosphere are simply perfect.
I'm not a "foodie" but I appreciate good food, great service, a well mixed drink and an environment that supports a comfortable table. I was with my wife and two of our adult children and we each enjoyed a warm, unhurried evening on a cold, rainy night. The music was pleasingly eclectic, a little too loud early on and eventually just right.
Massaya red wine recommendation (Lebanese Cabernet blend) was awesome! The tasting with branzino and flank steak entrees were a hit for us. It was a great way to kick off the New Years Eve celebration!
