About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Great for happy hour
  • Great for outdoor dining
Just one block from Aspen Mountain's base, ZIGZAG defies the expected. We've created more than a restaurant⏤it's the home of chalet casual, where culinary ambition meets mountain mystique. Our philosophy blends Italian chic with mountain edge: take risks, push boundaries, honor technique. At the heart of our kitchen, the town's last wood-burning oven speaks to both heritage and innovation. Each evening unfolds as its own masterpiece, where precision meets playfulness and fine dining finds its edge. Join us at the intersection of bold flavors and alpine allure, as we rewrite the rules of modern mountain cuisine.

The restaurant was not crowded at all, yet our service was poor. We waited 10 minutes for our server to take our drink order. Our food was barely warm when it was served.

I’ve spent my summers in Aspen for the past 25 years, so I’ve dined at many of the town’s restaurants and have a good sense of the level of service and quality that Aspen is known for. Unfortunately, Zig Zag was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. We were really looking forward to dinner, especially since it was our kids’ last night in Aspen, but the evening quickly went downhill. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet we waited over 40 minutes for our drinks because our waitress forgot to put the order in. She didn’t even realize she had forgotten until we asked about them. Throughout the meal, dirty dishes sat on our table so long that I ended up clearing them myself three different times and placing them on an empty table nearby. The food was fair at best and certainly didn’t make up for the poor service. For a $600 dinner for five people, the experience fell far below what you’d expect anywhere, let alone in Aspen, where the standard is exceptionally high. It’s especially disappointing because this was meant to be a memorable final evening in Aspen with our kids. Instead, the poor service overshadowed the entire night. Unless significant improvements are made, I have a hard time seeing this restaurant succeeding in Aspen’s highly competitive dining scene.

Great burger but my margarita pizza was bland and the crust was soggy, you hardly pick it up.

Sitting outside is best. Too noisy inside. I hope that they pay attention to that next winter when you don’t have that option.

Great ambiance! Slow service and food is a bit overpriced for what you get
    ZigZagResponded on June 29, 2026
We're glad you enjoyed the ambiance. We're sorry that the service felt slow and that the portion size and quality did not match your expectations for the price. We appreciate this honest feedback and take it seriously. We hope you will give us another try so we can provide a better experience.
